  1. Deadman's parts are real A-10 parts he's purchased. How he plans to make them all work, I have no idea, but it will be a real challenge for him. If you want some ideas for beginner, check Y2kiah's and Oakes thread. Lotta good stuff there.
  2. I never had any problem with my set. But some say they do. So it doesnt affect everyone.
  3. I prefer boxed too. Im not however going to wait an extra month so I can have a piece of carboard.
  4. I assume you mean FFB (Force feedback?) Windows can recognize any number of joysticks even if they are all the same. It is simply a Human Interface Device. BS will allow several axis from different devices to be assigned to the same thing as far as I know. At least it works for buttons.
  5. So what happened to the airbrake guage? I noticed it gone in A-10C pics but its there in the A version. How do you know what position your airbrakes are in unless your just supposed to look out the window at your wing tips?
  6. Burn your download to dvd. Get some thin cardboard and fold into a box and glue. Pretty easy. For added effect, print out a color copy of your favorite Warthog pic and glue to the front. Waallaa
  7. Not likely any different impact then DX9 or 10. Ragdoll physics as the name implies is a bunch of physics (math) calculations. This would be more affected by the computational hardware (i.e. how fast your graphics card is) rather than a function of DX.
  8. Actually Ive been trying to figure that out too. Depending on how it was wired, Ive used resistors before. But the joysticks Ive seen are all prewired with diodes. Im not sure about the reasoning behind it.
  9. I dont know if its even possible. The only multi-monitor setup in FC2 is the regular camera view. Unless its possible to assign other cameras to different screens. Would be nice to have the 2 F-15 displays output on seperate monitors.

  10. Wow winning bid was $113. I should put mine up for sale on ebay.
  11. Im 99.999% sure that any double offer is imaginary. Neither ED nor TM have even hinted to this as a possibility.
  12. you can find a lot of replacement parts at places like Digikey.com including hat switches and buttons. Im sure TM has some replacements too.
  13. Thats interesting. Im quite surprised cause they custom made mine at no additional charge and the service was very good.
  14. True. But if they are just arbitrairily putting dates out it would make more sense to postpone 2 weeks and not 3 days. Just seems odd to postpone 3 days if you havent the first clue when its supposed to be in.
  15. Wowsers. For that price you can buy a complete hotas. Not WH of course but that is expensive. Better off just ripping apart a cheap joystick. If your a little tech savy and dont mind soldering, there are plenty of do it yourself threads on creating usb joysticks. A $5 microcontroller and some diodes and wiring are really all thats needed hardware wise and there are several examples of programming out there. The catch though is you would have to program the chip yourself and a programmer is like $100. But if you have one you could program any number of chips.
  16. Maybe. Im wondering why they bothered to postpone it only 3 days when the last email was for Sept. 27 unless they have some kind of source information. If some sites say they geting it Oct 20 and others Oct 31, it is possible that TM is shipping in limited quantities in several production runs on different days rather than shipping all their product at once.
  17. So with those kind of water graphics, is water still computed as being present even on dry land like in BS or did ED fix that?
  18. Because thats what ragdoll physics is. You are talking about having some AI and infantry animations. I agree we need some infantry animations and reactions. I disagree that waisting cpu cycles to compute thousands of math problems to decide which way a persons leg is gonna fold underneath him as he falls down is necessary.
  19. no point of arguing this. Noone can be proved right or wrong with todays current implementation and we all know that something like this would never even be attempted.
  20. You dont. You only render at that detail at low altitude like you guys did in DCSWH.
  21. Im still using a core 2 extreme machine. I intend to hold off on upgrades till this time next year when the Sandy Bridge enthusiast chip comes out. "Next is Sandy Bridge 'E' (Enthusiast or Extreme, take your pick) 'Patsburg' platform, which features a huge new LGA2011 socket to replace LGA1366 in Q3 next year (although right now that seems dubiously convenient given the year of launch). The larger socket is to accommodate the new four channel DDR3 memory controller this platform will offer, as well as the first outing for PCI Express 3 - of which we'll get 32 lanes bolted into the CPU itself. The lanes can be split between 2x16 and 4x8 for multi-GPU, but again, there's no details about CrossFire or SLI support at this early stage." http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010/04/21/intel-sandy-bridge-details-of-the-next-gen/1
  22. Sometime ago I atually found the company that made those pots. I dont remember their name now but when I inquired, they had zero stock and would only sell in very large quantities on a made to order basis.
  23. Actually on the Abrams comment, many times Ive had to consistently fire 3 vihkers to kill them. Seems like on some missions it is more armored than on others.
  24. A joystick can operate with USB1 without bogging down the bandwith. The computer simply polls the joystick periodically and a few bytes are sent back and forth. The bandwith used is practically nothing compared to other devices like a memory stick or a printer.
  25. Its a little different trying to read how to do it in a book and quite different to see how it is done in a training session as they explain it.
