/agree What would be nice tho I know it wont happen is to find out the function assignments in the pit like what you see in the export and main_panel files so I could start programming my export/sioc files. That'll never happen tho till its released. I love the waiting game.

Have you tried turning off Windows User Account Control before installing and running?

I like that grass is being implemented but it needs a lot of work imo. From pics it shows up for only about 30ft around you. Second it looks more like sporadic weeds that are randomly placed rather than grass. I think the grass should be much shorter and much fuller and extend out to about 150ft around you. Just my opinion of what would actually make it look good. Right now it looks kind of out of place, but Im sure this isnt exactly the top priority of the ED team either.

AIM-9 will be in DCS:A-10C. Dunno how good it is but as far as Im concerned with what Ive seen in the FC2 version, its mostly a joke. Pump a few flares and your home free.

I purchased simped pedals. I would suggest NOT buying the cougar version as you have to use TM cougar to interface it. It is not compatible with a standard gameport. I purchased their usb version and its awesome. nough said. They sell pedals with and without brakes and they sell a brakes addon (which is the cheapest of their products). The F-16 usb unit with brakes runs 280euros (about $400 US.)

LMAO. good luck. A ripped out old one will run you several thousands if its in any decent shape.

simpit extrnal buttons toggles, switches & dials ---> .lua. HOW?
sweinhart3 replied to pappavis's topic in Home Cockpits
The hardware is available in a few different forms. You can stick with something simple like a USB-keys device, but there are some fundamental shortcomings with it. It would likely be the easiest and simplest solution as the device takes your switches and generates a keystroke. The downside is that this works great for push button or momentary switches but not so good for on-off switches. Myself and a few other people are using hardware you can purchase from Opencockpits.com. The programming interface is already created but you will have to generate your own scripts to translate between their hardware and the sim. It can be a bit intimidating, at least it was for me, but there are a couple examples you can download from people here that have done some work that can get you started. So far Ive managed my caution panel and cockpit indicators and shortly Ill have a servo flaps guage that Ill have successfully linked to the sim. The last option is of course to design your own hardware and software and Mike's Flight Deck books are great to get you started there. I started to go this route but the amount of wiring required to make a proper circuit board is horrendous unless you wanna get into etching and drilling your own boards. The advantage there though is that you know exactly what your building, how to program for it and customize it to exactly the way you want. But it requires the most work too. There are a few excellent threads that can get you started here. As already mentioned, Oakes is probably one of the best to start with. I believe there is some stuff on interfacing with the Output.Lua file and some stuff about SIOC which is the software interface that comes with the Opencockpit solutions. -
oooo. someone good looking for once.:D

I have one but I took it apart and would have to be sure I could put it back together first.

actually I have dodge missles on more than one occasion with just a few meters of sideways movement. Doesnt always work but its far better than sitting there hoping you dont get hit. Nice thing about it is I managed to keep my vhiker on target while dodging his missle. Not likely the best avoidance technique though.

Great shots. Keep em coming. On the Senaki shots, the edges of the concrete are all blurred next to the grass. Is that supposed to represent loose gravel?

I seriously doubt the entire plane is worth a billion dollars. Those kind of prices are reserved for planes like the F-22 and is why we arent building any more of them. I would guess more along the lines of 50-100million for the entire plane.

I know their website says the 26th but my order status still says the 15th. things that make you go "hmmmmmmmmmm"

64bit allows for more efficient use of computer resources and utilization of much greater amounts of memory.

New DCS:Ka-50 and FC2.0 sound engine
sweinhart3 replied to Distiler's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Well if that were true, then you would need to model some kind of cockpit jolt or vibration to make it realistic. -
New DCS:Ka-50 and FC2.0 sound engine
sweinhart3 replied to Distiler's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I could see that, but what Im talking about is when your flying around and all of a sudden your spinning in circles because the back half of your chopper is blown to bits and there was no sound indication of ever having been hit or when you see shots in front of you hit your chopper and your shkval dies and no sound. Until I modified sound files, that happened more than once. I can appreciate the dev's attempt to realistically model frequency cutoff when your wearing a helmet, but Im not sure how the sound issue got missed. I think that more realistically, the higher frequency sounds would be attenuated, not muted. Edit: Im not trying to point any fingers so lets not go there. -
New DCS:Ka-50 and FC2.0 sound engine
sweinhart3 replied to Distiler's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Ahem, not hearing yourself get hit by 30mm rounds or a stinger up your ass is hardly realistic. Just because something is in a simulator, doesn't mean thats how it is in real life. -
Finally Smooth Flying with these Graphic Settings
sweinhart3 replied to toby23's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Im not rich. I cant upgrade my pc right now either. But nothing says you cant start saving up. Its just a matter of how bad you want something. Money can always be made. Maybe you have to make a few sacrifices but then it all comes down to what are your priorities. I dont think I will be abe to do a major pc refresh till this time next year. -

Not sure about multi-monitor setups but single fullscreen fps improved significantly with 1.02 patch. -

What if you found 2 games? Could you afford one then? :megalol: -
nice. I need one lol

Ive had situtations and Im not sure why it does it, but if you are say locked to a moving target and it moves out of the gimbal limits of the shkval or for whatever reason breaks its focus point, (this seems to happen a lot when Im trying to focus the shkval on something in the distance without firing the ranging laser), it will start moving by itself in some random direction to a corner in its limits. If you have turn to target selected when this happens while pressing the cage button, you'll spin your aircraft. Dont know if this is a bug or how the real thing works as far as the shkval behaviour, but Ive never had a problem with the chopper spinning in this scenario unless I was playing around and kept the cage button depressed while using HMS and looking around. There were other times Ive had spinning chopper problem but was unable to figure out the cause.

Dont forget STDs. Serial Target Data streams

Well I dunno about you, but having to land at 120knots can be nerve racking when most people barely push 75mph in their car. Many of those WW2 pilots you mentioned also died during their landing attempts so I wouldnt agree with 2 weeks training being adequate. Most of the WW2 vets went to war with only a few weeks training and a gun they barely learned to fire.

What exactly does bloom do? I thought it was just a blurring effect for lights. I dont see anything wrong with the pics that suggest the HDR is no good. Thanks for the great pics. I must say Im extremely impressed with how much ED keeps their fans in the progress loop on a regular basis. Keep up the great work.
