Crap. Here I was thinking open conversation and planning on the forums would be overlooked as simply "ridiculous non-sense". We may have to change tactics here boys, onward to MySpace (Anyone know if they share information, sorry answer questions on that platform??)
-
Well, I have heard reports that GlowingAMRAAM was located in a bunker, north of Tiblisi. A strike at this location could cripple ED's SC PR Campai.............I can't I love his videos too much. We may have to settle for a strike against the Cat in the Hat (I'm horrible I know), just can't promise a location at this time. We may have to move this strike discussion to a more secure location. I have seen deletions of OFF TOPIC posts increase in recent days. Sorry guys, just trying to break the argument with a slight bit of stupid humor.

With the slow down in updates they mentioned, hopefully it allows them better results and maybe (I said maybe) add a few things we aren't expecting. Luckily, I am taking the approach of "We get the update when THEY think it is ready.", saves a lot of the frustration. Plus side, I don't get my hopes up for anything outside of the Two Weeks™.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Any chance we can get the office building ED uses placed in the Caucasus map? I have a server idea.....The White Knights for the Defense of ED vs those whinny complaining non-patient children......I mean seriously, let's move the discussion from the forums to the game. What could go wrong? If not, anyone want to mod the static warehouses with ED's logo on the roof?
-
And there ya have it. Glossed over with word salad. Regretful, but not surprising. Anyway, I'll stop complaining and move over to the patiently waiting line till more details are released.

I don't think anyone is saying only share information here. I know I am not anyway. However, one would think that the primary source of information should be ED's webpage/forums. I get it, you guys can't control the narrative over on Hoggit. If misinformation starts to spread over there, you can only combat it with posts. While here, clearly spelled out rules, "Our way, or the highway". I say that with respect, really I'm totally cool with the rules this forums has, but rules spell it pretty clearly. Now, with respect to your statement of being one of the best in terms of talk with the community and communication............well you might be halfway right. I have only been a apart of a few other communities centered around gaming and I do think ED is pretty good, maybe the best at TALKING, not so much communicating. Yep, gonna bring it up again, the 13th-14th was in no way the best communication, even the lead up to the Friday before Newsletter. "Any news about the SC release next week?", "More news in the newsletter." Meanwhile, no news in the newsletter about SC release, only dev updates. "WINK WINK, Newsletter" .All we got all day of the 14th, "We will have an announcement soon" , "We'll be with you later today.", "Answers are coming, please be patient." , "Does this feel like a normal release guys, no. We will have more information soon (Oh look another hoggit one)." , "We are going to make an announcement tomorrow.", "Kate wants to give the information herself." You guys are great at talking, but not very forth coming with any information. It was pretty flipping evident what was not going to happen, but ED would say it, would end the BS post about the 15th release. If you think that is being the best, clearly we can end this conversation right now, cause it ain't going anywhere productive. Now before the patient waiting heros of fandom start, I DO NOT think you guys have to make every post, giving breakdowns of when this dev is going to the bathroom, when he is working on the LSO station. That is dumb, and it is very off point for what I'm asking/saying. This release felt wrong. It felt wrong the week before. Nothing went the way previous releases have went. NOTHING. Honestly, you know what might have stopped a lot of the BS posts the past week. on the 13th "Guys we aren't going to be releasing this week, some bugs popped up in testing that demand fixing before we release. We are working on getting some info together for you guys, but it may take a few days. We as disappointed as you are. More info to come!" That is how you start being the best, stop being reactive and get proactive. I may be completely wrong. I may be a fool. But how can a post like that convey the wrong message. Yes, you guys give us info, details, insights about different point of views that are very important. But you can also be very wishy washy. I'm am only asking for continued improvement in communication, not a re-write of the rules or procedures. But if ya'll feel like you're one of the best, then there is no need to listen to fools I suppose. Can we also stop with the, "Spent time with family", "Had to have some time with the family", "Played a little of this or that" posts. I think we all get that you have a life outside of this, and I don't think anyone is demanding you devote 100% of your time to ED. If they are I'm sorry you have to put up with that crap. But to keep throwing that up in posts makes you sound condescending and gives the feeling you don't give a damn what we say and are posting to shut us up. May not be what your trying to do, but it just isn't a good look.

Here here. +1

And I think you are 100% right on that. Some will never be pleased and some will see more into things. I would like to think that they would be really really few in number, but I know better. I think that is what makes it hard. How do you give enough information to satisfy your regular, relatively logical (I've seen the simpit section, some of are indeed crazy and helpless) users, but not let it get taken wild. Which is why, for the most part, I have stayed away from the argument over what exactly they are telling us and focused more on the timing.
-
100%. I don't really care for that line of thinking either. I do think we will be getting a great product, as long as they release before 2021, after that, we should get the pitchforks ready. Just saying.
-
Honestly, man I completely agree. I believe things will get better. What is happening in the world doesn't help matters any either. On the plus side, I can't think of another community that is as "world wide" as we are here. As such, communication is even more important, but at the same time even more difficult. I don't mean to bash on ED or our Community Managers, they are doing the best with what they have at that moment, I get that. I'm just stating my opinion, and we all know what those are like. Like I said in my original post, I'll still be here, I'll still buy and I'll still fly.

Thank you kindly sir. @pimp What I want is to see them change course. I want to see that they have learned from their mistakes. I fully believe Kate, Wags, Newy, 9L, and Nick Grey when they said they saw they problem with the 16 release and were determined to ensure it didn't happen again. I think that pushing the SC back on the 15th was a shinny example of this effort. That still doesn't excuse the fact for the complete lapse in communication, or the wish washy posts on the 13-14th. Given the fact that they are still posting details on other sites instead of their own, which in my eyes, is a huge problem. That needs to spoken loudly and often until we see a true change in way they communicate with us. I'm not asking for daily details of what everyone at ED is doing cause that would be stupid. However, timelines (god I'm going to regret saying that) need to be given (as they usually are), and when something isn't making the cut, getting notice of it the day of "release" is not smart. It creates the illusion that ED was being deliberately shady, which I don't believe they were. All in all, the best way to combat unrealistic expectations is with good quality information about what is going on and posted in a central location that everyone can easily find.

While I don't agree with a lot of what Raytheon said, as he clearly doesn't understand the EA model ED uses. I find it interesting the response you gave. I struggle to find where any of that could be considered offensive. Clearly misinformed, yes, but not offensive. That misinformation is from two parts, 1. Raytheon himself not doing his homework on exactly what he was buying. 2. ED, and their communication issues. I'm not talking about production delays or bugs popping up. I think anyone can clearly understand those issues, current times not withstanding. I just talking communication in general. As someone above mentioned 175 some odd pages and NineLine is answering "detailed" questions over on Hoggit. Not here. Not on your own website. And a normal user had to be the one to transfer the post here. Why are we not seeing a problem here? And you wonder why people get upset or start making BS statements. I'm not some doom and gloom guy here. I will still buy products from ED and 3rd party. I will still buy into EA. But you guys gotta get a handle on communication. People can hate on it if they want, but ED's process for the 15th was STONE COLD WRONG to wait until "release" day to give us any information about what was happening. I get working to the wire to try and get it released, but if you're still working 5 minutes before "release", and you ain't told nobody anything other than announcing an announcement, it's probably too late.

Really looking forward to the deck work. Managing planes loading in on the Stennis can be a hassle. That and deck crew should make for some really fun launching.
-
I can second the Museum Relic Campaign. They are fun, challenging and laid out very well. Highly recommend.

Read it, understand it. Moving on, have a good one and stay safe man.

You, my good sir, are still not listening to what I'm saying. What. If. The. SuperCarrier. Breaks. ALL. Of. Multiplayer? I get that you are wanting all of the MP code removed, but what if that is not completely possible? What if they best they can do is, make it so it can't be placed in MP missions? There is still the CHANCE that is might break ALL OF MP. Your thinking (on releasing SP only first) is predicated on the fact that they only problems exist in multiplayer component. As you said in your first statement, you suspect other problems might be in play other than MP and that I completely agree with you on that. So my question is why release it 50/50? Why not just fix the damn thing and made it work in all game modes? What if the time they waste pulling MP out could be better used to finish up bugs and maybe, I don't know, add a few things they couldn't get to on the 15th? We just don't have enough information yet to know anything. Side note: Dude, I did not resort to implying anyone is dumb. I simply said the argument was dumb. I was respectful in my comment of your post and it would be greatly appreciated if you would do the same. If you can't, don't bother replying, we'll just end the conversation here and move on. I'm not interesting in breaking forum rules, just trying to have a conversation with people who enjoy this sim as I do.
-
You seem to have missed the point he made of what happens if the SC breaks MP even if not placed in missions. What if just the code punts all of MP? Is that acceptable to you? If it is, man you got a screwed up point of view. What about the MP users that didn't even buy or even plan to buy the SC? Is it acceptable to you that they loose the ability to play MP? I agree with him in that this 70/30 horse crap is a dumb argument. We don't have all the information, ED was pretty vague with what the exact issues (ISSUES, to be read as more than one) delaying the SC were. All or nothing, we have enough bugs and problems in OB a the moment that there is no need to add even the possibility of adding more. Don't take the risk, everyone waits, everyone still gets to use the features that are released currently (as buggy as some are).
-
When are you actually going to fix this sim
TheGuardian replied to Bandit47th's topic in General Bugs
Yea, gotta agree with Blade here, you should play stable release man. Seriously, try stable. You might be much happier with the products you purchased. -
Well, it's fairly easy to see what the plan was. Get most, if not all, of the core features including and at least working (until the next patch screws it all up anyway) by the end of the year. Agree with most others that weapons need to be on the back burner with increased operational modes for different features taking priority. Don't see any issue here, as this feels relatively normal to game releases. I'll just look at the 2021 updates as DLC and standard patches. Once again though, we find miscommunication from ED. Kate said in her original post that the F-16 would likely not make it out of EA until Q1 of 2021. Now Wags is saying they still plan to have it done and out of EA in 2020. Which is it? You're going to slow development of the Viper to finish up the Hornet and you expect us to trust you that it will be out of EA in 2020. You want us to believe and support you ED, but you guys need to figure out how to be on the same page with the information you release. This is a stupid problem to have.
-
Come on man, you know how they play this game. We should probably see that patched in OB by the second week of May, maybe June (kidding of course).
-
Since it's not in the patch notes, I would say no. Then again, wouldn't be the first time, they didn't include everything in the notes. That would just make too much sense for ED.
-
All things being considered, I think we should feel lucky they told us what they did with the "MP Problems" answer. I personally could care less if they ever detail the problems, as a machinist, it isn't like I can offer them any help, just so long as they fix it in a timely fashion. Timely being a loosely used word for ED recently.

Is the radio menu interface workable for carrier ops?
TheGuardian replied to Bearfoot's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
not going to disagree with you. It is a compromise. I totally understand the fumbling menus screwing up your view. I still would rather have to deal with the communication myself then have it automated, but that is purely a personal choice and nothing else. While completely not the same and not used during landings (as far as I know anyway), I think of it the same as the JHMCS feeding me information. That is just me though. The question I guess is how important are those calls really in the SC? Are they required for grading, will the wire not catch if you don't "Call the Ball"? My flight group only calls the boat one time, to announce inbound. After that we just broadcast over the freq to a human ATC, or even to no one if we don't have an ATC that night. I have spent a lot of time setting up VoiceAttack to be able to do what I want and try to keep it as real life as possible. It's not perfect by no means, but their really isn't a better way. A perfect example is when I come up to the tanker, I have it setup so I hit the transmit button, say Texaco, or Arco or Shell, and tell them i need to refuel. Normally the comm menu closes after you complete one command, but I have it set to re-open the comms and sit in the "Pre-Contact" menu. After I call Pre-Contact it does the exact same thing and waits for me to either get full or abort. Again it's not perfect but it gives me the illusion of actually transmitting and talking with a tanker, without have to move my hands off the HOTAS.
