Is the radio menu interface workable for carrier ops?
TheGuardian replied to Bearfoot's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Yea I have had to shorten a lot of calls to key words so VA doesn't go all crazy on me. -

I would disagree only because part of what makes the carrier so challenging and fun (at least once you have it down) is all the procedures and calls. Real pilots have to call and talk on the radios while flying, while this may not be ideal for all players, making it a command key would be the best option for those not using VA or MP servers with human ATC -
Thanks for the directions. I read the original statement when it was made and stand by what I said in the above post.

I like Viacom, can't use because it refuses to understand my Redneck US accent no matter how much voice training I do, but it's a good program. Yea it would be great to have that kinda stuff in a VR setting, would be super immersive. -

I wonder if they will set that up as input you can assign to the HOTAS, kinda like the Bogey Dope call. I use Voice Attack so it won't be a big issue for me, but I would hope they would make that easier for others -
Yea, it's a little nit picky, but I don't remember them making any promises up to this point. There is always the chance of delay. I've been been playing pretty solid now for two years, and I don't remember one release that happen on the original date it was thought to release (not sure about the JF-17 though, as I wasn't interested in that module). I mean feel lucky you not talking about a Square Enix release, they have been known to push back three or four years, on a simple "not ready" PR release. True, ED is far too silent on this matter. True that ED has ZERO idea how to handle information release. All of which leads to the same problems, not enough details and people have to search and find and read between the lines on everything ED says or does. I point you to one of the hype vids for the F-16. You clearly see an F-15E in one of the parking spots and that send people into a tizzy thinking it was coming soon (before Razbam's "official" announcement). Like others have said, Kate said if it wasn't done by May 31st, then they would start "TO CONSIDER" refunds, didn't say it was a promise though.

While it is nice jester and a really good way to bring in new people, I hope the communications problems find a way to be fixed for future releases. If not we are right back in this boat in 6-12 months.

Damn that is a good point. ED wanna clarify this, or should we wait for an announcement to announce the announcement?

2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
TheGuardian replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
Good thing is you can always download DCS from ED and try the modules stand alone before going back to Steam. -
Probably should have worded it more like "Walking around on the deck is super cool, after your plane gets destroyed while trying to re-arm, or close the canopy, or remove the wheel blocks!". It's more of a happy go lucky deal i have noticed. Disagree with something......WARN WARN WARN. Point out obvious communication problems......crickets. Say how great you think ED is.....God himself will pop into the thread to thank you for your patients and support. It is a really cool to be able to walk around on the deck, pre-flight "inspection' or a brown shirt counting your pins would be cool too though.:D
-
Not disagreeing with you, but is that even possible? Do we know if the fixes work stand alone without the 2.5.6 update? Would be cool if it did, but I think it might cause more of a headache at this point to do that. I don't know anything about coding/programming so I'm just guessing here. Any one with more knowledge that can shine a little light?

I made the same statement in the road map thread. Don't really understand why this is a hard concept for ppl.
-
100% THIS, but you and I have talked about that. Calm down before you get slapped.......lol
-
Agree with both Jaguar and Jester. The funny part to me is the SP related posts. Kate said the "MAIN NO-GO" not the only no-go. I wanted communication, got it (way too late, but I'll take what I can get).
-
Just glad to get some communication on what is going on. Don't care if it is delayed, as long as you guys are working through it and trying to release in the best state possible that is all I need to know at this point. Those asking for refunds because it missed the date today should be given their refund and also banned from ALL EA going forward
-
Who would have thunk it that, ED would share information on their own forums. That makes no sense what-so-ever. Hope no one died.
-
Agree, but I would hope that somewhere down the line their is a discussion going on about how this issue got all the way today without them giving us a heads up, or the messed up communication from last Thursday to today. Do what you gotta do ED.
-
Why? Are suddenly the lead product manager, or lead community manager that can magically answer my questions? NO? Good act like the rest of us and click back some pages and you will find out.
-
Well that is your opinion. I will continue to ask and I will continue post about the jack up communication. I paid my money and can ask about updates anytime I choose. Not like they give have been giving straight forward answers lately anyway.
-
See.....this is part of the problem. You have no clue what you're talking about. I do not/did not/will not have a problem with pre-purchase. I have said several times in this thread that I don't care if it gets pushed back. DOES NOT MATTER TO ME. Get it right, that is what I been saying for weeks. I pissed about the jacked up communication we have been getting. We get the wink wink to check the newsletter, then get told to look at the FAQ, then get told more info later today, to be told probably going to have to wait till tomorrow. If you don't see the problem with that, please don't reply to this post, as we are clearly on different levels.
-
How about you worry about you, and the rest of us can worry about ourselves. If we feel we want to ask questions about something we have paid for, then we flipping will. There was no reason to wait till less then 24hrs to start talking about problems, either in game or real world, that were causing delays. If you don't want to know what is going on with money you spent, that's on you.

Wow, that was a real hard announcement to make. Oh well, back to the Stennis for the time being.
-
RIGHT!!!!! Even when they only loosely announce, it still creates to much bull
