But what does that mean?!

Below $2K is my buy point. If it's over that I'll just keep drooling.

Ugh! my updater isn't showing an update!

In the hour long video Jar did with the virtual stingers he said he was getting great performance with his Rift S in the beginning of the video.

So, I went to fly today and my slew axis just stopped working. the button press is recognized, but X/Y, nothing. it worked for a brief second in the -18 then nothing. Ive had it installed since august with no issues. tried unplugging it and replugging it to no avail. re-ran the calibration tool, nothing. What are my next steps? order #2149

just watched a pretty neat video explaining Vulkan implementation in another big sim. Pretty interesting learning a little bit more how Vulkan is used.

Which is partially why I already realized I will only use the outer holder. Diet Coke everywhere... Plus beer will sit much lower.

Added a few controls, and the all important cockpit cup holder! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49660651008_a22e32d063_k.jpg' alt='49660651008_a22e32d063_k.jpg'>Untitled by Andrew Walker, on Flickr[/img]

I got my set in on Thursday. I ordered the previous Friday and they shipped Monday. Not too bad getting from Croatia to New Mexico in 4 days! Modern shipping is something to behold. Anyways, I too replaced TFRP pedals and what an upgrade! I did have one problem during set-up. My windows would not recognize the pedals at all. Tried a different USB cable, everything. Nothing worked. They were plugged into a 7 port powered USB hub and while fiddling around I unplugged the power connector on the hub and I heard the “windows usb inserted” sound. Looked and sure enough there they were. Plugged the power back in, they went away. Very curious. Nothing else was effected so I left the hub unplugged. Anyone have an idea why the powered part of the hub would effect only the pedals?

With the abysmal performance of 2.5.6 I have taken some time off from flying, but it has afforded me the time to finally construct a simple pit for VR. Still to be added is a UFC box (eventually a button box), landing gear and hook lever, wing fold control and the top console cover thingy. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49625998107_11bcb93eb1_k.jpg' alt='49625998107_11bcb93eb1_k.jpg'>F/A18 VR Sim Pit by Andrew Walker, on Flickr[/img] https://flic.kr/p/2iBhdi2 Hah! figured out the photos.

I have up for sale a set of silver chair mounts from Monster Tech. they are "form 2" and include a base plate for the Warthog Throttle and T.16000m joystick. I drilled 4 holes for the warthog stick when I upgraded so the warthog stick will work as well. also included is the mouse board add-on. I'm looking for $170 shipped in a USPS flatrate box. E-mail or PM for pics. No trades, Paypal or USPS Money Order only. Thanks for looking!

Anybody have plans for a Hornet Landing Gear and Hook Mechanism?
clayvt replied to Gladman's topic in Home Cockpits
I’m working on a simpler design that’ll hopefully be done in the next week or so. When it’s done, I’ll post up pics. It should be fairly simple. The parts were around $100 from McMaster Carr but I can build both with that $100. The only other expense was a bodnar board that I’m still waiting on. -
It is impressive, but still does not have a yaw or heave axis. And it suffers from the lack of sustained G feeling through climbs or rolls. I think bergisons seat is going to tick all the boxes...

Whats the timeline look like for now? I'm more than likely a day 1 buyer.

Would hate to see how much one of these:https://www.acme-worldwide.com/products/dynamic-motion-seats/dynamic-motion-seat-overview/ would cost...seeing as their customer base are governments not hobbyists. Lol

How to know and track where a ground target is using CCIP?

VR zoom is your friend -
Any way you’d be able to put together parts list and/or a set of plans? What was the rough cost?

A stupid question I can't find the answer for
clayvt replied to Capn Penguin's topic in Virtual Reality
Actually one being knew the question.... but unfortunately it was destroyed 5 min before it was ready to give the answer in the 80’s. Stupid hyper space by-pass. But perhaps the mice will find out someday! -
I had to put my pixel density up to 1.5 with my Rift S and the MFD’s are readable but still not sharp like when you zoom in.

Hardware upgrade options for improving VR performance
clayvt replied to Falcon7a's topic in Virtual Reality
I upgraded to a 2070 super and have been very happy with it paired with the Rift S. Now I did plop in a 3700x at the same time, but my cpu usage is in the 50-60% range. For the price I think the 2070 S is the way to go right now for those of us who can’t afford a 2080Ti. -
#2149 arrived today! Can’t wait to install it after work!

Unless you absolutely need the PCIe 4.0 for ridiculously fast storage, I’d look at less expensive X470 boards that have good VRM support.

Anyone actually (or claim) to have acceptable VR performance?
clayvt replied to Stal2k's topic in Virtual Reality
I got my Rift S a few days after release and it was my first VR headset. I had an AMD 2700 OC'd to 4.0 with a 2060 and 32GB of 3200 ram. it ran well with the settings rather low but holy crap the immersion vs the 1080 monitor was worth it. When I built this system around January I built it with AMD's Zen 2 in mind which is why I went with an X470 MB to ensure it would would work. I was also hearing the rumors around NAVI and was excited Zen 2 and Navi would launch together. I was getting 40fps in the air but around crowded waypoints or on the ground on MP servers it would constantly dip into the 20's or teens. Zen 2 came out and I picked up a 3700X and since Nvidia decided to under cut AMD I got a 2070 super. since those two upgrades I get a solid 40FPS anywhere in MP with much higher settings. I am very happy with the performance I have now and just shipped my 2700 and 2060 to my brother to upgrade his system so he can get into the VR game eventually. So with a 3700X, 2070 super and 32Gb of RAM I am very satisfied with the current implementation. with that said, there are some instances such as following a weapon to the ground I'll get 80 FPS. so that obviously it's possible....just not in the plane with my current set-up. and everything I've read another upgrade to the 2080Ti is not going to benefit me in any significant way. I know ED is a small company and has been around for years and has basically been upgrading their engine to fit the current hardware, but I think as much work as it would be, they need to re-work DCS onto a modern, more robust engine. If they are truly working on building DCS onto Vulken, I think that will help a lot of us out in the long run... -
Wish someone mentioned this before! I thought it had to do with eye ipd as well and never touched it. setting it to 50 and the scale seems much more realistic! same thoughts...now I have some elbow room and I don't stick my head through the canopy looking at my weapon stations now! lol
