  1. No, but at the same time I'll never say "plane X has a lower RCS because of plane Y" RCS is not a straight cut and done deal
  2. Pssst... a lot of the frontal cross section is the spinny engine blades. It's not just looking at the plane and calling it a day.
  3. It's useless to ask, don't expect anything big unless officially announced, it may take a full year.
  4. It shouldn't be though, that's with AG radar off too, with AG radar on there's spikes everywhere in frametime and it struggles to even make 27 fps :(
  5. I will make a dedicated thread to this once I have better numbers, but honestly the JF-17 performs worse than any other module in DCS! in VR, yesterday: F-18 free flight held 40 fps steady JF-17, same settings, struggled to get 27!! i7 4790, GTX 1080, 32gb of ram, 0.8 pixel density and 128% SteamVR SS. No MSAA, medium-high settings (kept shadows on)
  6. The point is, they can't just willy-nilly swap stuff over right now considering the source they have gives them a complete schematic of how everything works. It's probably a euro version of the Litening pod if I had to guess. Maybe sometime in the feature...
  7. Maybe stop flying with flaps out? It's normal for such a high speed aircraft to shake a lot with so much added drag. Even on an airliner when the flaps come down you feel it in your guts.
  8. The JF isn't really meant as a front line dog fighter, you see how it struggles to match power even with the F-18, and you think it can "easily" beat a plane like the EF, which is pretty much an F-22 in handling and thrust? Seriously?
  9. Same. SSLR makes zero difference to me. Reshade alone makes lighting look much better and it has zero performance cost, for example.
  10. pretty much nobody has turned it on, common knowledge that if you want to play, especially VR, you're going to want to turn off all the fancy effects
  11. 10% is not marginal and it cannot be linked to "lighting changes" : seriously, you guys have seen the new lighting? It doesn't change anything aside from seeing glowy textures further away. There's nothing that projects shadows or that would reduce performance.
  12. The shader mod murders behind the scenes a lot of postprocessing stuff. Water, cockpit lighting and reflections, all lose a huge amount of fidelity, so it's a bit hard to know for sure what works and what doesn't.
  13. Daily reminder Vulkan is, 99%, not coming in 2020. So don't call it out as if it was a fix, it's far, far away.
  14. You do realize this update was sent out with internal only merges that accidentally went public? This is like saying you'd be a perfect chef if you can point out that you can't make pasta sauce with excrement. Maybe, just maybe, people are saying this because it's obvious to everyone?
  15. Guys, just turn down the brightness a bit and increase contrast. The new lighting system makes the lighting knobs actually serve a purpose, I usually to just shoot them to 100% and leave them there, now I don't. That's all.
  16. F-18 instant action dogfight, used to get stable 40 now it's about 27 fps (Index set at 80hz, 150% steam Vr resolution, same settings before and after patch) coincides with everyone's reports
  17. edit: nevermind, but there's 1 plane out there with the WS-13, and it's hard to find block-1 videos!
  18. holy heck you're right I feel so dumb, I swear I tried on and off... my bad. If the thread can be deleted, please do so!
  19. Mirrors in the JF don't "deactivate" ever, which cuts FPS in half. EXCEPTION: I can set the game option for mirrors to off, restart, and mirrors are off. But the moment I touch M, they come back on and won't go off unless I restart the game. This is important because it's roughly a 50% fps hit that I need to restart the game to fix, and I do like having the mirrors on *sometimes*
  20. Linus of LTT recently did a video about overlocking an 11 years old computer with a special motherboard with 2 cpu sockets. The game did HORRIBLY in traditional DirectX on most stuff, then he went on to test it on Vulkan games and it was crazy - he had Titan graphics cards that weren't used by the game because the CPU was bottlenecking it, moving to Vulkan le the game use the CPU so much better that he achieved smooth 100 fps gameplay at high settings on a game that would previously struggle to not stutter at low settings. I don't think Vulkan is coming anytime soon to DCS, but it will be groundbreaking when it finally does!
  21. Module was last updated April 2018 afaik. They're throwing the "it's ED's fault for changing things" now. You know what other developer did that.
  22. Feels good, but it's not super good in VR. Big issues: - main issue is that all text is too tiny to read. You will want to know the jet really well out of VR before even attempting to fly it. There's a modded VR cockpit though - performance is worse than any other plane in the game, but that's to be expected since it's really complex and you're pretty much flying 2 cockpits worth of detail instead of just one - KEEP THE MIRRORS OFF! They're the biggest FPS killer
  23. Very likely. I hope we don't see the same thing on the A-10
  24. Seems like they accidentally pushed a dev version to live, honestly. We have a lot of weird stuff, even carrier ATC for free currently, lol.
