The big issue with it is the way it works, so the 2 tacan dials have 10 or so numbers on them right? Each number would have to be its own button input, so you would need 2x 12 position rotary switches AND THEN have to get HB to make all those numbers an option in the sim to work properly. using encoders you only have to have a Chanel up and down for each dial, much easier and already supported, also it’s beside your hip, you don’t it to look perfect, because your normally doing it by feel or looking at the bit on the screen with the numbers

Function over form at the moment, bought the plastic knobs from the same place and am using them as it. I am planning to in the future make a proper one. But for now this one is fine

In my tacan panel build I used one of these for it http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=98_75&products_id=196

Hi there, quick question, does the new forum image/file upload system remove exif data on upload or do we need to remove it before uploading?
-
Quick question, not sure if it’s been answered before but.. what Is the different between “shrike 1 and 2” on the little dial? Are they just volume settings or are they a flight profile?
-
I thought the wheels had 14 segments? The image posted only has 10
-
You are looking for rotary encoders, you will need to make the wheels for them. here’s how I did mine... the wheel is a bit of 30mm plastic with cable ties glued to it and painted white. My best mate did his with 30mm dowel with zip ties and painted, the hardware is the aforementioned rotary encoder

Awesome thank you so much!

Question for who ever can help, what are the dimensions of the canopy jettison handle? As much detail as possible please I've included measurement locations on a picture below I'm not sure what ill need or wont need but if you could fill them out for me off measurements from your builds that would be awesome
-
Dude it’s just epic! Puts my pit to shame lol
-
Can’t stop looking at it, just beautiful, so well done, the detail is just on another level! Im speechless. well done bro. Well done
-
Oh no that’s aweful!! You’ve been such a big help to me on my pit! Hopefully it’s easy to get the info back. dude your pit is awesome! Makes mine look like rubbish! Is your pit fully functional? As in does it work in game? It’s bloody stunning! Im just putting the finishing touches of stage 2 of my build, I’ll be posting pictures of it on the 10th of March, the 1 year anniversary of its build. what we need to do is put together a big pack of everything needed to build one, I’ve done so much research and messing around with files and stuff it would be a shame to keep it all for my self, im more than happy to help out where I can
-
There’s a market for it that’s for sure! That real pit going into a sim pit will be insane, looks like the cat has inspired a lot of people to do a home pit! the 3D parts would make it a lot easier to do that’s for sure, my pit build has taken a year so far and I’m still not done, there’s a lot of things that need to be figured out and hand built. If there were true 1 to 1 scale and functional things out there available it would make things much easyr, surly there are people out there who want to do a build but don’t want to go through everything I’ve been through with mine. reading the natops and scouring the internet for information and stuff is fun but tiring and also past what most people want to do. readily available and affordable parts for a pit is a great idea I don’t know if I could be any help to you but im keen to help if I can
-
Yes, I made both of them took a lot of the thinking with my brain but they came out great
-
I've just finished building them. did all the research I could and then built them scoured the youtube for videos of them being used in a real pit read the natops (i now know how both systems work in their entirety) and spoke to or anyone who might know something, that plus comparing the laser scan to the in game images to find the right sizing for everything and figuring out the correct angel that they needed to move through it was a lot of work but I think I did alight, ofcorse where i live i have no access to a real pit so i did the best i could , ill be posting up pictures of my simpit build in march, with video and loads of pictures and all that plus of Corse plenty of Q&A on the subject, but here's a sneak peak for you... everything is as accurate as I can make it, both levers function correctly, they both have 3 buttons on them, up, down, emergency, all buttons activate at the correct part of their movement and the arm does move the HYD ISOL switch into the down position as you lower the gear lever. I'm pretty happy with the results

Holy crap good thing i checked, I was about to post a question asking the same thing. Any word from HB at all regarding Jessie and counter measures or are we so far going of our own experiences personally I’ve not been able to get him to do anything with the cms so I usually set myself up with what I’m likely to encounter. So I set it so I control the chaff when I’m in radar range for AA/SAM threats and then if I get close enough to be at risk of heat seekers I’ll switch back to flairs, altho this is annoying and I’d love to have Jessie handle it all, somewhat like the a10 and fa18s auto cms system I guess Unless I’m flying iron hand then I want control of the chaff lol very interested to see what HB have to say on the matter

Quick question. Any chance of a profile/setting for combined arms? I’ve been messing around in ca a bit recently and it’s really weird being in dcs with out getting shaken! Is this on the horizon? -
Dude that’s perfect! Good to have a concrete number literally from the thing that makes it work! Thank you so much for sending that through. Pretty conclusive information through this thread. So we must have been doing something wrong during our buddy lase tests for sure then to get such a vastly wrong distance
