Hi. There is no option to re-arm at the start of this mission. Is this because its a FARP? I have 4 x Radar hellfire's with no RADAR. George AI gunner may as well be throwing axes at a spinning target. Blindfolded. This leaves me with 4 x laser hellfire's, the gun, and the "spray and pray" rockets, whist expected to take on armour, AAA, manpads and APC's.

Thanks for the reply. I will use guns closer to river next time and stick closer to flight lead to make sure his triggers work. By the way, AH64-D F10 menu definitely has options to RTB to re-arm or MAYDAY.

Hi. I've tried this Misson 5 times and have hit a few problems. 1. 6 missiles for 3 outposts? Flight lead doesn't help out apart from the boats. Am I supposed to cross the river and use guns / rockets? I've been told to stay 1 mile away from river. 2. Flight lead stays circling the takeoff base preventing the mission from progressing. This has happened twice. 5. Re-arming ends mission. I land. Re-arm, and am told to shut down engines. I'd like to proceed, but have already had to skip the previous Misson due to the destroyer landing nets not working. Skipping 2 missions seems pointless.

Say i have a target point from a JTAC or a campaign mission and then i have "friendlies 2 miles southwest". I have the target point on my TSD. How best to create new point to represent the friendlies relative to that?

How to increase the rendering distance of grass and bushes?
coolts replied to unmar's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
I've not tested on Germany / other sand maps, as the Apache campaigns I'm playing are set in Syria, so they may be worse/better/same. Helos are not ED's priority clearly and its not an issue for fixed wing flyers who view terrain as something you take off from, land on or drop metal things on. To be fair, MSFS2020/2024 both look awful low down in some areas. Close up photogrammetry is a nightmare of mashed textures. Try NY central park in a Helo. Its Lile Jurassic Park made in Minecraft. Every MSFS demo is someone flying round NYC in a cessna from 2000ft+ where it looks lovely. You cant see the helo flyers puking in their VR headsets. -
I don't know. I'd not played for a few years then got everything working, learned the apache, got vr working, flew a few missions and then noticed the weird bush bubble around 50ft around the helo. It looks bloody awful. Ruins the Immersion. What's the point of detailed clouds and terrain if you have minecraft scenery effects. Actually, minecraft renders clutter further. Rename that file and they're gone. Maybe it's worst in Syria.

Thanks. This made it playable for me, The magic growing and shrinking mushroom / bush / rock effect was ruining it.

How to increase the rendering distance of grass and bushes?
coolts replied to unmar's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Temporary fix here. This makes a world of difference at low level where the "magic mushroom" bubble cant be unseen once you notice it. Doesn't affect grass and trees. -
Strike eagle customers look on, arms folded, unimpressed.

This is for ED to patch, not Meta. I'm no Zuk fan, but there is a workaround. Use the Quest as god intended, wirelessly. Honestly, you wont go back to having a cable dangling over your shoulder*. *(once you've spent a month faffing with bit rates, researching codecs and routers and wishing you'd bought a pimax).
-
It's on ED to fix their openxr implementation. With the move away from open beta to predictable, slower releases, there probably won't be a hotfix. What we lose in agility, we hopefully gain in stable patches going forward. In the meantime, ditch the cable or use the janky steam runtime.

DCS MT: ***Improve Frame Times Consistently*** with Process Lasso
coolts replied to Flextremes's topic in Virtual Reality
See my post here for how to fix this until ED patch it. -
Now there's no beta, there are no hotfixes. Stable updates mean predictable dev cycles. Let's just use vr desktop till its fixed. My WiFi is crap so I bought a d-link vr bridge usb adaptor. It's decent.

From g2 to quest 3. Distant objects pixilated
coolts replied to nwagtmustang's topic in Virtual Reality
Use airlink, virtual desktop with fast WiFi. Ditch the cables. Just set mine up. Loaded msfs and dcs and blown away. Miles better than G2 with its microscopic sweet spot. I can look around by using my eyes! No need to do the G2 head swivel just to check my mfds. G2 on ebay on Monday. I loved it, but its been annoying me for ages with the horrible fresnel lenses and steaming up every damn time. I've seen less steam out of a bloody kettle. -
I've not checked pre planned waypoint TOT's. It's that a thing in DCS as it is in BMS? Using the F10 map is a PITA, especially in VR.
-
Playing DCS Liberation, all waypoint TOT's are given relative to Misson start. I can see this counter in the F10 map, but nowhere else in cockpit. What have I missed? Something obvious I'd wager.

Jesus H Christ. 6 pages on this and still no answer. Just a lot of horse whispering about what "works for me". Lets hope ED make boresighting a tickbox option. In VR it's a pain in the arse. From a hot start its fine so it's obviously not necessary in game.
-
I tried a few time last night and i cant get it right in VR. Aim is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off. So i'm stuck with hot starts in VR. I'm sure this is something that will be sorted. The boresighted aim is always high and to the left, which would correspond to the sight being rendered in the correct (right) eye in VR and centrally in 2d. The game is boresighting assuming 2d so when you actually do it with right eye only, its parallaxing (collimating?) the opposite way. Probably .
-
Ah right. No problem. I'll give it a go tonight. Cheers.

This looks awesome. Quick question. Apache TSD is blank. No waypoints or target areas. Is that something I’m doing wrong?

Well none of this worked for me. From a cold start, looking at the reticule or centering the circles. In VR, neither work. Gun aim is miles off. From a hot start with no need to boresight, its fine. Bugger.

correct as is Range set to auto - no confirmation on the MPD?
coolts replied to sirrah's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Good point. I remember that from Wags video now. The slew rate difference isn't useful as an indicator as it could be frame rate, etc. -

coolts replied to sirrah's topic in DCS: AH-64D
My bugbear as pilot is that there's no indication when switching from TADS to PNVS at all apart from a flicker. Unless i've missed it. -
Definitely worth it. For starters, as a Hornet / viper guy you get a completely different perspective on the maps from a Helo viewpoint. Using terrain tactically is a whole new mindset and you actually see so many little details in the maps you never even know are there from up high. I can only compare to the shark as far as DCS helos go, It's WAY easier to startup and the weapons are like space age compared to that old birds setup. Especially sensors. I would prefer the sharks cannon though for anti armour. Until suppression is modelled in DCS, the AWS is a pain in the arse. Makes a great noise though.

Thank you. Obviously this is a WIP feature and adding correct code to take into account VR / single eye monocle, etc, when it comes to boresighting, will take time. I just want to shoot stuff and have my rounds land on the target and not 300m behind them and to the left. Cheers!
