  1. We have had big mouth Block 30's since the 90's. No plans in place to upgrade as of right now that I know of. Wisconsin and Alabama are converting soon too so we'll likely be one of the last Block 30 units left in active service for a while.
  2. One thing the GE does on start up with almost every single one I've crewed is create a nice 'boom' out the exhaust as the air/fuel mixture ignites. That would be a nice addition. Can't find a better example but you get the idea.
  3. I'm already going through withdrawls...:helpsmilie:
  4. 277 is one of our birds now since they converted to 35's. My livery request please and thank you:
  5. Until the relevant documentation and manuals can be sourced, it's a pipe dream (but we already know that, at least most of us). That being said, I thoroughly enjoy the Tomcat even with Jester continually letting me down like a workaholic stepfather. Having the D as an option would be a clear 'price is no object' scenario for me.
  6. Something tells me we can expect it about the same time we can expect a release date. Deka tends to keep their eye on the prize and leave the "fluff" for after they've ironed out the module. IMO these guys have probably the most successful 3rd party business plan with Heatblur a close 2nd. They give just enough subtle teases to keep people in the loop and focus the rest of their efforts on delivering a 'as close to perfect product as possible' in the end. F-16 aside, I'm excited to see the finished 17 and what it's capable of.
  7. Looks great, glad we're getting JDAM's, but the fact that Harlikwin had to post this for it to be acknowledged on here is kind of unsettling.
  8. Needs to include the cassette player on the left thigh of the pilot too though...
  9. That largely depends on aircraft weight/loadout, position (IE: slope or gradient in the apron/taxiway), and engine model. Lot of factors come into play for it to simply roll by itself at idle, but most do not under normal loads from my experience.
  10. Just be grateful we're not getting the Block 30. Landing gear and brakes on the 40's and 50's is way more robust compared to previous blocks. That being said, coming in with the nose up kinda like the Mirage (not quite as aggressively on AOA) you should be fine assuming you're on speed.
  11. Plenty of videos have shown it is possible. Not an easy task though.
  12. Is this opinion directed at the translation of a pressure sensitive fly by wire side stick in game to your physical HOTAS setup for your rig or the control setup in real life of the real F-16?
  13. SRS definitely scares people away. It's like they're terrified to talk to other human beings. Either that or you get the people that join and don't actually say anything at all just to satisfy the requirement of joining the SRS server.:crash:
  14. Has this been on multiple servers or just one? Haven't been on yet today.
  15. The day before the day after tomorrow? :megalol:;) I don’t care when it comes out, I’ll be happy regardless. But as far as academic videos go, I’m starting to wonder if they’ve got one too many irons in the fire at the moment that’s throwing their timeline for a loop. Wags just finished the harpoon vid for the hornet not too long ago so maybe it’s just around the corner for the 16 cockpit tour?
  16. Had a weird thought reading this (and I doubt it’s the case but humor me for a sec): What if it gets completed just before/just after the 16 is set to release? That could be a rough conflict for some that are on the fence on which to buy.
  17. Reference for the 2 months? Based on what I was reading in another topic the steam pre order is supposedly expiring around the 25th of September. :joystick:
  18. Last time I checked when I went over and hung out with their MX guys on the flight line at Red Flag, they fly Block 42's. Now if they've upgraded in the last 2 years since then, that would be news to me. BTW, that tail number listed in the mishap is a Block 42. Block 52's have 92+ tail's.
  19. We had one catch the wire at Kunsan during an exercise. Visibility dropped below 200ft on final. Needless to say our pilot needed some new underwear. Keep in mind also this was a Block 30, smaller gear/brakes/wheels compared to it's younger siblings.
  20. His info is correct, it depends on the system. Block 40/42's were a major shift in how the FCS responds to pilot control from the Block 30/32 because almost everything in the control surfaces down to the computers was upgraded.
  21. I think OP is talking more along the lines of directly controlled rather than AI.
  22. This has to be the most obvious troll I've seen in a long time...
  23. Fun read for anyone that isn't aware of what the center pylon has been tested for use with in the past: https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/the-f-16-gun-pod-that-tried-to-shoot-down-the-a-10-wart-1597577525 As of today, the station 5 is good for travel pods, jammer pods, red-air pods, and fuel tanks.
  24. I've seen plenty that have inherited a light red tint do to the amount of bugs/mosquitos they've nailed on approach. It wouldn't at all surprise me if some faded a light shade of green from certain outdoor conditions. Hell, my time at Kunsan AB exposed me to the ROKAF F-16's and they are definitely not a flat grey in color. Now to the extent that is shown in the EA WIP DCS F-16, I think there's a little more fine tuning to make on the textures before they release so I really wouldn't stress out over it. We're still at minimum 2-3 months out from release.
  25. I don't think it's the seat position they're primarily talking about. At least in our case and a few of my buddies in other units, it's the HMIT system for the helmet that's causing the neck issues because the helmet isn't weighted correctly. There's a lot of squadrons that are transitioning to a new system to correct that. Having messed with the stick during flight control ops checks and rigs more than my fair share, I can confirm on Block 30's that it takes a good amount of force on the stick to get full deflection from a control surface. Block 40's and up aren't quite the same since everything was upgraded to newer shit. Haven't personally messed with any directly, but I've got a few former Block 40 guys working with me from other units that talk about how much better/easier they are to work on vs Block 30's.
