  1. So that maintenance can remove the drop tank.
  2. I was a maintainer on F18s for 10 yrs. Discounting the 3 years on "shore duty" I can testify we flew more from the beach than the boat.
  3. The dashes replaced cautions that were no longer valid over the years of upgrades to the F18.
  4. MMP 903 and 904. Actually had a hilarious incident one launch. Jet on previous cycle recovery had a 904. Launching on the next cycle different jet that hadn't flown in a week had an issue with the SDC on start up. Swapped with the broke jet. Came to the part of checking codes before giving the good to go for flight, and I was a little baffled for a couple seconds as to how this jet had a hard landing code.
  5. Having been a plane captain on both legacy and super bugs it's the same procedures.
  6. That sounds right. Like I said. Been a while.
  7. Pretty sure the stick will move in relation to nose up or nose down trim. Doesn't move left wing down or right wing down. Been a few years since I've played in the cockpit of a real legacy hornet.
  8. Damn stick grip actuators
  9. Rdr on the right ddi goes back to the early days of the legacy hornet when we used to have a camera located at about your right elbow to record the radar page. If we had put it on the left it would interfere with the throttle.
  10. IRL comm1 will work off battery power, but will only work on the channel it was set to before generators dropped offline if I remember correctly.
  11. Don't remember any squadron carrying the walleye in 2007, but here it is.
  12. Just after we get AARGM's and SLAM-ER.
  13. If memory serves me correct any drop tank has to either be full or empty so it doesn't slosh around on trapping.
  14. One thing that really helped me get to being able to AAR was putting an extension on my hotas.
  15. I remember fondly of my time in the Navy when I was a lowly ATAA asking my AT2 what the acronym he told me to go pull stood for and getting that deer in the headlights look.
  16. You are a genius. Thank you.
  17. Load up an instant action ready takeoff mission and before I click on the fly button I can see both ddis. As soon as I click on fly the hud, ddis, and mpcd blank and nothing I do brings them back. I am on the latest beta. Only mods I run are Helios, Vaicom Pro, and tacview. Tried repair nothing changes. If I do a cold start displays never show up. Edit: only happens for F18. A10C2 has no problems.
  18. About every 3-4 updates it turns game mode and force feedback on on me.
  19. Turned wrenches on the hornet for over 20 yrs now. Gluten for punishment I guess.
  20. Been a while but if I remember right I believe ground maintance mode (apu to windmill either eng but not actually start the eng) was limited to 30 mins at a shot.
  21. Shut downs for the rona lead to a lack of base parts being available to build. You see a lot of industry with limited production this year because of lack of raw materials.
  22. I do agree though there should be an option for start on the beach with wings folded I.E. just came out hangar for maintance first flight kinda scenario.
  23. Wings fold drive is actually electrically driven not hydraulic. You can fold wings by reset power then putting 4 to B. If you really like your students to press buttons and switches find a copy of the Pro A launch preduces. It will basically have them go through most everything.
