No problem, it is something we can still look in to by adding prefixes to our texture names.
-
Will look in to this but I need to know, are you using any mods that might use a texture file called glass.dds, glass.tga or glass.bmp? I know of some ship and vehicle mods out there that do...
-
Hi Flagrum, We've been looking in to this very cool system and we might or might not add it, that is still undecided. The PDU on the Kiowa Warrior was only used in combination with the night vision goggles (ANVIS), so if we add it, it will only work when using NVG's.

Kiowa Warrior Detailed Intro videos
Polychop Simulations replied to Knock-Knock's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Part 3: -
Polychop is a very small team and we have our hands full on getting the Gazelle up to snuff and developing the Kiowa. We've expanded the team to be able to do both mostly in parallel (new flight model is the exception here) but taking on another project without expanding again is simply impossible with the assets we have. The community has been very clear on their stance towards starting another project while work on a previous module can be considered unfinished. We took that lesson to heart. Message received loud and clear. That is not to say the JU-87D-5 will never be done, it simply is on hold for now.
-
Hi BlacleyCole, As the Kiowa Warrior is still in ongoing development and we do not plan on an early access release but rather a feature complete release, all we can say for now is that we aim for release in 2020.
-
All textures will be replaced with PBR counterparts, including the pilot faces to create a more true to life skin effect. How much of a difference it will make is yet to be seen though ;)
-
Hi Pilot Ike, I'm working exclusively on the Gazelle myself. I have very little to do with the Kiowa development other than some of the newly developed features for the Gazelle might find their way in to the Kiowa as well. That being said, I know things aren't moving as fast as we'd like. This is due to the fact that besides being part of Polychop I'm also a police officer and the corona crisis is taking its toll on the department in various ways, forcing me to work a lot of extra shifts there. This is not meant as an excuse, just trying to be transparent on the issue.

How to tell minigun gunner to engage?
Polychop Simulations replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Ok so not sure if that is a compiled community wishlist or an actual to-do list right there. It's got some interesting points though. -
How to tell minigun gunner to engage?
Polychop Simulations replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
I don't think an unarmed version was ever on the to do list but I could be wrong... I only started working for Polychop in August 2019 so I might have missed that. It is something I certainly looked in to myself but I wonder if it has a place in the DCS universe. -
Hi Crash, 1) Missing mass is a bit of a debatable issue but we will address it with the help of our pool of real gazelle pilots when the flight model overhaul gets some traction. 2) Will look in to anti-ice / heating device and how this is done on the real life Gazelle. 3) Desert skin is a good idea, added it to my personal to-do list, thanks. 4) Minigun version was intended for multicrew only when it was added as a free bonus model. Implementing a UH-1 type AI system is something I'd like to see implemented myself and is on our list of things to research. We're always on this forum but for real time chat you can also find us on Discord. See my signature below.

Nice Video! Even though that map is not being used that often compared to others, it is awesome for some helicopter action.

Has module been abandoned by Devs?
Polychop Simulations replied to VampireNZ's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Even though I understand your sentiment we simply can and will not set a release date on anything. The past has shown that with a base platform this fluid, being updated almost weekly without knowing ahead of time what will be changed, predicting an accurate timeframe is simply impossible. Both 3rd party developers and ED have shown it is incredibly hard to set a release date for anything on this platform as we have to adapt to the ever changing nature of the base engine. As far as the Kiowa Warrior module goes, it will be released in 2020 as a feature complete module, no early access. The live streams are a good indication on how far along the development process is and also shows what still needs to be worked on. Gazelle bugfixes are not tied to the Kiowa Warrior module development process, they are continiously being worked on by a separate team, dedicated to the Gazelle module and released when tested and done. Any flight model related issues sadly are still tied to the development process of the Kiowa Warrior module however as the newly developed flight model code will be used for the Gazelle as well. As the flight model code is still actively being developed for the Kiowa Warrior, as in, it is not finished yet, this is somethig that will take some more time. -
Will there ever be a SA342sim?
Polychop Simulations replied to RealDCSpilot's topic in Polychop-Simulations
As we have stated multiple times now that the flight model issues will be addressed using a completely new flight model system created for the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior module that will incorporate many of the requested features and fixes, this thread will now be closed. This thread, which was started and remained active with what we think are good intentions of concerned people that all share the same common goal, making sure the fidelity of the Gazelle module gets improved, has become a collection of various subjects, lacks structure and is going around in circles. Rest assured, you have made your point clear and your feedback is noted. We also understand we won’t be able to take away your concerns until we have something to show for it. Keep in mind that the flight model code is one of the biggest and most time consuming parts of coding a module. When you take in to account that creating a module from scratch takes about 3 years, and coding the flight model is roughly a third or more of that development process, you can imagine it is not done in a matter of months. Even though this thread will be closed now for the sake of readability and the reasons stated above, feel free to start new threads on specific topics. We’ll try our best to answer any questions you have or address any issues you find. But keep in mind, the flight model will be changed for the better. -

That is correct. We aim for a release in 2020, no specific date can be given at this point. -
Flew the Gazelle for the first time in more than a year
Polychop Simulations replied to dssrtfx's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Hi dsrtfx, SRS has been updated to work with the keybinds of the Gazelle. There are 2 ways to select the active radio but you have to keep in mind that both the left and right seat pilots have their own radio select panels. Bind the following keybinds: Pilot Intercom --> VHF Radio Selection Pilot Pilot Intercom --> FM Radio Selection Pilot Pilot Intercom --> UHF Radio Selection Pilot Copilot Intercom --> VHF Radio Selection Copilot Copilot Intercom --> FM Radio Selection Copilot Copilot Intercom --> UHF Radio Selection Copilot These are the buttons that allow you to transmit on the corresponding radios in SRS. Alternatively you can "push" the radio volume buttons on the intercom panels using the mouse to select the radio as the "active"radio. In SRS make sure you either have a PTT switch bound and Always allow SRS hotkeys on, or have "Radio Switch Works As Push To Talk (PTT)" selected in settings. The actual intercom channel you see in SRS is there to communicate between pilot and copilot in multicrew. Multicrew right now is not functional and degraded by numerous updates of the core engine. It is on VOX so always transmitting but not of any use unless you are in a multicrew session. Even though the IFF panel is modeled in the Gazelle, it was never fully implemented and "clickable" as around the release and some years after, there was never any use for IFF. I have added it to my personal wishlist of things I'd like to implement at some point though. Functional IFF was only added to SRS a few months ago and we'll have to see how and if we can implement this. -
Hi there, What you describe, without a screenshot or further information, sounds like a mod conflict. Some mod might be using a texture file with the same name as the texture file used by the Gazelle module. I can not troubleshoot this without you providing more information. I can tell you however that we can not replicate the issue you describe on a non-modded open beta and non-modded stable version. You can hardly expect we test the module with every available mod out there. Provide more information and I will try to replicate and remedy your issues but please consider the attitude you display in your posts. Feel free to contact me on Discord for one on one troubleshooting. Discord tag: DrummerNL#0489

Gazelle 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 updates
Polychop Simulations replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Sitrep 03-31-2020 What's new? Work continues on the new PBR textures and flight model while we're also hard at work fixing bugs introduced by DCS core engine changes. In the latest release of DCS Open Beta we have fixed the misalignment of the gun on the Gazelle L and also took the opportunity to release white phosphorus rockets and a combat mix for the L's 20mm gun, which should make it more effective against a wider range of ground targets. Mistral, again The Mistral missile, while it was updated to use a more modern flight model script, is still being fine tuned internally. It will be more agile and have an accurate proximity fuse when done. Work on the Mistral missile has been on the back burner for a while as the dedicated Gazelle coder ran in to problems with the SDK software but work on this has now been picked up again. Landing light animation As reported by you, the community, the landing light broke with the 2.5.6 patch. DCS now uses a method to animate the axis of the landing light that turned out to be incompatible with the method used on the Gazelle. The old method is being replaced. -

[General DCS LOD Bug] IR-Zoom does not show unit
Polychop Simulations replied to Tiramisu's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi there, I just checked and it seems that it is a LOD issue on the dead manpad model. You can verify this yourself by placing that unit in the editor, have it killed and zoom out. You'll notice the model will disappear at a certain (short) distance. It'd be best to report this issue to ED as it is not Gazelle related. Good catch though! -
Canon pointing a little higher and to the left in Vr.
Polychop Simulations replied to arturojgt's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Are you sure it's shooting to the left for you? It was shooting up and right for me. A fix for this has already been developed and will be released shortly. -
The sniper team was announced as a bonus a few years ago. Due to the fact that infantry, the general damage model of most units and being limited to guns that move only up, down, left and right instead of a true first person immersive experience, we decided to release the doorless minigun variant instead. @Relic: We're working on a complete PBR texture overhaul, new flight model and some other new features besides the bugfixes.

Has module been abandoned by Devs?
Polychop Simulations replied to VampireNZ's topic in Polychop-Simulations
We're working on the Gazelle and released the last update in October. The bigger updates need more development time. News on the updates are posted here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=250574 -
As it is right now, the Kiowa does not feature multicrew but as we've stated before on multiple media platforms, we're awaiting the results on the UH-1 multicrew functionality and whether this function will be part of the SDK as an API, or is at least accessible to 3rd party developers in some way. If that is the case there is a good chance we will implement the feature. As of right now it is uncertain such an API will be available though. We'll have to wait and see.
