Uhm... The checklists that as far as I know every F-16 operating squadron uses is the TO's. The -1 isn't the only TO, you would use the T.O flight crew checklist. You seem to be very confident that the engine feed to should be set to OFF, please refer to a valid checklist about this or at least give some explanation behind why you should put it to OFF. Right now your information can't be regarded as valid, sorry.

HOLD is a momentary action that will remember the M-4 codes when you go IFF MASTER KNOB - OFF. You really can't be comparing these things, you're finding connections where they aren't any. The pre-flight procedure goes through literally every switch in the cockpit except for the oxygen panel and the KY-58 panel (which you should check either way), of course it will go through the ones he mentioned. As for the shutdown procedure and the after landing these are the positions you would expect the switches to be in when you jump in the cockpit. So yeah, the way you shut down is the way you would expect the plane to be set up.

duhh.. haha. I was interested in knowing what manual/flight crew checklist you are referring to because I have never seen any of those steps in a shutdown procedure for the F-16 except for the C&I knob to BACKUP.
-
I think a really good solution for this problem (if you can even call it a problem) is to have the original switch position the same as the previous shut down positions. If no prior shutdowns have been done it will be the default position set by ED. This way it would be realistic as to how switches are set IRL, and it would also require you to do correct shutdowns and pre-flight procedures to make sure you've got everything correctly. I think it would be a really great addition and would add a lot to realism.

according to what checklist? Document name?

What do you mean with "default cold start"? And the things you mentioned above have no backing behind them. You world never turn most of those things off on shutdown, so why do you want them off?
-
Yeah, you will have to trim using the trim wheels on the trim panel on the left console for precise trimming.
-
This isn't really how it's done IRL, you would never put the air source knob to OFF under normal operations. And there is no such thing as "fuel selector", if you're talking about the engine feed knob then no, that would not be places to OFF under normal operations either. Additionally there should not be such a thing as "default" switch positions. It is a reason for why you check every single switch in the pre-flight procedure. Ideally some of the switches should actually be randomized, to make these things a bit more realistic, but I guess that is a bit too much to ask for.

I'd recommend having a look at this. What you do is that you go into externa view (NOT F2), and then place the camera inside the cockpit. Shouldn't be too difficult.

True, if you don't enter an course you will not be able to use the command steering cue, and you will not be able to use the HSI in a standard way, however it has no effect on the actual glideslope nor the localize meaning that if you're not interested in using the HSI nor the command steering cue there is no reason to enter the course. The ADI will function equally with or without the course.

This is not true. The heading you enter into the ILS page is not used for regular ILS approaches and does not need to be entered. It is used for a special ILS approach mode that is not currently implemented.

Honestly I have no problem with FC3 being phased out, not because I think having an easy alternative is bad, rather I think the incarnation of FC3 as an easier alternative should be done differently. I think all planes should be full fidelity and that if you want to fly something that requires less skill you'll have simpler aircraft to suit your needs. I am unsure what you mean with "acquisition brackets".

Might not be sexy, but it is highly realistic. And as a sim I think our sim should aim to be the best simulation of real life as possible.

If you trying to say that the missile is returned to the default WARM mode when going to dogfight switch center from an override mode with MASTER ARM in ARM with the missile in WARM making it automatically switch to COOL I guess I agree somewhat as the piot could forget that the mode automatically selected it. I think you should test this by first turning the missile to COOL maually in dogfight switch center and then go to dogfight master mode with MASTER ARM in ARM and then back to dogfight switch centre. If this ^ is the case, the missile will not change mode, however, if it is bugged the missile will change mode.

I wouldn't recommend using chucks guides nor any other guide for these specific things. Chucks guides and the DCS F-16 manual do a great job at teaching people who only wish for a simple way to get into the aircraft. None of these guides or manuals are any good for in-detail stuff. They contain misinformation and bad explanations, and in most cases just completely leaving things undescribed or unmentioned. For bug reports, advanced system knoweldge and any other aplication where in depth knowledge is required you have no other choice than to read the real flight manuals. You simply can't compress 2400 packed pages of pure usefull information into a 250 page pdf file with pretty pictures. It's not possible, and for that reason avoid using these guides for such things as this discussion.

Technically you could go into your HSD options and toggle off things like AWACS, but that really isn't an ideal way to do it at all. Just use the COMM switch.

no, for me the hole point is flying realistically. If I don't fly realistically I don't fly at all, and it is for that reason that I prefer to read and study the aircraft until I know how to realistically operate the aircraft. These things are not possible to learn by doing. Flying MP won't help me learn the aircraft, it will only be a time waister. And for some that is all they need, but for me I'd rather study than fly around pointlessly.

correct as-is E-Bracket broken during landing?
SpaceMonkey037 replied to Kenan's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
No worries, it's always good to have feedback no matter if that feedback is any helpful. It shows that people are keen on seeing this module progress and improve! Keep it up! -
As it is a datalink filter it will not effect your radar. Forgot to mention, but in DCS there really isn't much clutter at all from datalink as our datalink is way to precise currently. IRL it's not as precise and will in some cases cause you to see many targets where there in reality is only a single target. So, IRL this is very useful. In dcs, not so much.

Is The AIM-9 Tutorial Broken?
SpaceMonkey037 replied to Johnny Dioxin's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I think the reason for why you're not seeing answers is that you've posted an aircraft question in the missions and campaign section. I would recommend you to re-post it in under the main F-16 tab. Have a safe flight! -
A pleasure to see your perspective on it. For me (neither an F-16 pilot) this is a great hobby. I find it a lot more rewarding to fly like you would IRL, rather than this... modern warthunder that I think most people enjoy (I played like this too before I realised how complex military aviation really is). However, flying for realism has it's downsides, not going to hide that. I've easily spent way more time reading and studying manuals than I have flown the aircraft. I think I have about.. 5 hours of total flight time since around march-april last year when I really began digging into manuals. Since then I have always had a manual open that I would read in whenever I had time, probably racked up a couple hundred hours of studying. I am just now beginning to feel more comfortable with the aircraft and how to operate it that I might be able to complete a very basic point to point flight within the next couple months. I haven't even skimmed the surface of what DCS really has to offer. It is only now that I truly realise how amazing this sim really is. In all honesty I will probably never get to a level where I will engage with other targets using live munitions, but that is simply the way of the "milsimmer". It's not pretty. Now, I am in the top of the top when it comes to realism, I know that most people only go that far with procedures etc. Anyway, this type of flying definitely isn't for everyone. I treat the sim as a hobby, when others watch TV, I study air traffic laws. When you know that you do something like a real pilot would it makes it just a hundred times more fun. In short, treat the sim as a hobby and don't stop learning and in a couple years you might know things you don't even know exist right now. I wish you all good luck on your aviation adventures, and have a safe flight!

Yeah, that sounds very strange and not correct behaviour. Forgot to mention this, probably even more important than what this discussion was originally about. When selecting COOL in ANY mastermode, the missile will go into cool mode, and will STAY in that mode until changed otherwise by the pilot NO MATTER the master mode. This means that you can go COOL in A-A mastermode, switch to dogfight mastermode and it will stay on cool. This is independent of MASTER ARM switch position, and is essential to the operation of the sidewinder as the seeker is practically useless without being cooled. And, if you're in MASTER ARM switch ARM, the missile will automatically go into COOL in both dogfight mastermode and missile override, and then stay cool until the pilot commands otherwise independent of mastermode and MASTER ARM switch position. If this isn't currently how it works in dcs, and from what you have told me I have a feeling it isn't. Please do make an bug report on this, if you don't make one I will.
