The wingtip vortex effect is now correctly modelled based on atmospheric humidity. I just don't know if speed is part of the equation. But it is normal to see vortex effects on a aircraft on the ground.

My first flight sim was Jane's IAF. Damn...i used to think that looked state of the art. My comparison was the only other game I played at that time,...Simcopter. ;)

The least we can do is ask. Its up to ED to decide whether it's worth doing and adding. ;)

Since we are on topic of effects... The raindrop effect and splash on ground The accumulation snow and any ground vehicle / tires of aircraft kicking up water / snow/ sleet The spark effect seen in the rRG kick starter aFm video when the plane scrapes its wing tips or underbody on the runway.

I don't know if I am seeing things, but am I the only one who spies screen space reflections in the cockpit gauges? There seems to be real time reflections in the gauge glass covers. Or is it just good texture work?
-
yup! that is realtime. Its basically a same style of water as in the silent hunter series. Wave physics model with a function of time. That way even across networked PCs, the wave form will be the exact same..so displacement of ships is also same. Regd whether it is efficient in a flight simulation.. I can't say...but that would be amazing for the future F/A-18C. Imagine landing PFM Su-33 and the hornets on carriers during rough weather.

ED should use this for the water in EDGE. iilqtDkeIBE and imagine this for the fire/damage/explosions L1577QeCdwk

Glad to hear Nicholas. I am looking forward for new smoke/damage/explosion fx that reacts with the angle of impact, wind etc. Hopefully this generation of shaders used for smoke fx shouldn't be as CPU?GPU intensive as in the old engine.

Looks awesome

honestly with everything they have going on right now, 3 modules, edge and nevada....flanker aFm might take more time. I hate the delay as well because I can personally care less about the sabre, mig 15 and dora.
-
Some people play it to enjoy the scenery, fly around for a bit, bust some targets and create good shots. (myself included) Once again, its an option...turn it off if you don't like it.
-
I love the new DOF feature. As mentioned, its an option, so those who can't stand it can turn it off. DOF gives a great sense of "depth" to the visuals. :p
-
Looks like it. The grass in shot matches the wheat colour of the ground.
-
That would be pretty cool, although functionally pointless feature. I guess if they animate correctly to open panels and nice little missile skids raising missiles to the wings, it would be a nice feature to see that another player is actually performing maintenance on his aircraft.

 I used to watch the new il2 clod videos and think that DCS deserves that grass... and we finally have it.

New X45 for 50euros, worth it?
Witchking replied to junneh's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had the X45 for a long while...before that I had a logitech stick. Honestly, I had a better time with the smooth logitech than the X45. The X45 was just too tough to move and very clunky IMO. On the other hand, the X52 or whatever which you can get for a lot cheaper price used on ebay or kijiji...it has a hall effect sensor and it definitely is a lot more precise and easier to use. The warthog I agree is expensive and can be very tough to move...but the motion is butter smooth and precise...so it works well that way. PS: If u can hold out for the X55...I definitely recommend u to save up. Get the newer X55. I have seen very good reviews about it. You will be pleased. All these newer sticks blow the X45 out of water. -
lol! I agree. Testing is definitely a time consuming and non-glamorous work. I rather prefer to try out a relatively stable piece of software. I guess the foot of the matter is that .. we all can't wait to fly on the EDGE. :p I am very excited to see how the engine has evolved by myself on my own rig. Maxing out DCS means I get only 15-25fps right now. I am looking forward to days when hopefully even 15-20fps is stable in any situation...whether employing a CBU or shooting the GAU8.
-
Nope. Just that no matter how many internal testers, there are tons more pc configurations out there and with a major engine change, trying to get the community to iron out major stability issues may be paramount.
-
Remember folks... Since GG mentioned there is still work left to do, it might be a bit before we see release. Although I agree that now is the best time to release it as beta to get a large test group so that they can begin fixing stuff. Expect a bunch of special fx missing and other stuff missing.
-
IIRC...I remember this back in the day when people noticed little ships in the harbours caused a performance loss due to inefficient conversion.. I don't know if they ever fixed it...but in that case...yes. Although...hopefully if edge can make proper use of gpu, I think triangle count shouldn't be a problem with most gpu nowadays.
-
I just can't finally wait to try EDGE. Hoping for a good performance boost. :p

Now that is just mean. :smartass:

That is FREAKING awesome. ;D

nah..not the caucus map. I was asking about the NTTR map. I think the low density of traffic is probably to avoid these issues. Although...there may be a property to let civilian traffic just pass through one another. IIRC...I think I saw it in the game some years back.....bus just phasing through a car. lol! and I will buy it. :) Bring on multiplayer while people are causing a big mess of downed migs, eagles and flankers on the streets of nevada. :p
