Lol. Well...i did not know that. I only ever bothered watching the flanker documentaries, but never looked up the eagle. :music_whistling: But that is interesting to know with regards to lift provided by the inlets. How two different solutions can be provided for the same problem in two opposite nations.

nice video. I think you forgot turning on the laser/getting a valid lock for the missiles the first couple of times. There was no orange light on the right of the hud. Also...too low for the bomb drop bro. :p I think thats why the first didn't detonate. You got a good eye though...I struggle to see the little units in sky/on road. :(

Maybe...lol! I don't know the exact characteristics...but... the flanker does have the leading edge flaps as you mentioned, but try to imagine the "airflow" pattern and drag pattern for the eagle and flanker. For sure, there should be more turbulence/airflow disruption for the airintakes on the eagle than on the smoother flanker.

The blended fuselage of the flanker compared to the Mig25 or Mig31 layouts seen in the F-15.

Maybe the new thing about the flanker for PFM is the contribution of fuselage aerodynamics to overall stability and aero of the aircraft. The F-15 is relatively traditional with it'd shape. The flanker is totally different, but I am sure the lessons learnt with the flanker can help for moðlling other aircraft like the Eurofighter.

We need new explosion fx and smoke fx like in arma 3. http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/wkwis9/arma-iii-community-guide--ground-vehicle-crew

The first F-15 shot looks incredible. :)

Can we expect anymore PFM/SSM aircraft ? (aka FC3 modules)
Witchking replied to ANGST's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
I hope so. The FC3 fidelity aircraft are a good balance between work and blowing crap up. -
Its worth getting. I still find the A-10A, Su-25, Su-25T to be a lot of fun. Its nice to be able to fly, use just a few key presses, but focus on the flight and mission execution than remember all the button presses. I think thats why i have a lot more fun with these simplified avionics than the detailed A-10C or Ka-50. Among all the DCS modules I personally have only learnt the A-10C (weapon engagement and basic aircraft operation). I still don't know much about starting up and radio procedures etc. The other aircraft, I am relatively still new to them. I flew the Ka-50 a bit, but not too much at all. On the other hand, I have downed a significant amount of hours flying the FC3 aircraft. All I care about is PFM/AFM/AFM+ and avionics, I don't really care.

yup! BTW... can anyone post the DCS FC: F-15C, Su-25 and A-10A main screen wallpaper? The FC3 module does not include those assets. Not to mention the music, we are also probably missing each of those module's main menu music.

Man.. I can't wait for the flanker Pfm. It's going to be awesome. After that... ED can work on the su-33 and mig-29. :p

Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
Witchking replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
If you have independent throttle controls like in the x-55 rhino, you would assign thrust left and thrust right instead of just the thrust option. -
I agree...i am not a fan of the sabre, dora or mustang. I prefer newer aircraft and helicopters. The hind, apache are my favourites too. But I guess the WWII community is pretty ripe.... with a lot of interest. ED is trying to gather that consumer base as well with DCS WWII. A wide product portfolio is the best way to find more consumers in Today's niche flight sim hobby.

DCS modules take months-years to build. This isn't a simple mod to plug in and play, a lot of research goes in to make a detailed module. It will take time.

I think that was a concern back in the Lock on days. Now, it shouldn't matter. Hopefully, we can in the future shoot down the parachutes of bailing pilots. I remember doing that in IL-2 back in the day and having a great laugh. :p Regd. incapacitating pilots for future missions in a campaign for instance, that would suck. Imagine you are unable to use rudder etc because the pilots legs are broken. Well...u wouldn't be allowed in the pilot's seat for the next mission. I think a more nicer option would be a kill tracking system and achievements. Perhaps having a "kill tally" with marks and re-designed logbook will make it more interesting. Also, integrating some steam achievements and a pilot progression system with editable pilot helmet art and unlock able stencils would be nice. Ofcourse...not necessary indeed. I think ED have enough on their plate with what they have lined up. But sometime in the future perhaps. ;)

Check your settings/controller configs. I notice that mapping is always messed up for my thrust master & CH combo whenever I fresh install the game. -
I think you better wait for the EDGE update before going forward. RAM is cheap indeed and I don't think you can go wrong with updating, but you may not see a benefit. Check in your task manager while DCS is running to see how much ram its using. But regd video card, I might wait and see if this is the typical CPU bottleneck first.

Good to know. I didn't know that detail about how it functions. I also think I read somewhere on these forums that most pilots in the russian knights fly with the AoA limiter turned off.
-
The F-15 model is more "detailed" than the A-10A, Su-25.... but not the A-10C. The A-10C has ASM which means more modelling incorporating things such as electrical systems and damage in a certain area of the aircraft might accordingly damage the corresponding system. More specifically, their example was that even the compression distance of the hydraulics in the landing gear is exactly modelled dynamically. This is probably modelled to a limited extent with the A-10A and Su-25, but the feel is still very similar. All the DCS level modules are PFM and ASM, but the F-15 is PFM alone...(similar to what the Su-27 will be). The idea is these can be later developed into full fledged DCS level modules.

Its been a while, but I remember the pilot saying...you disable the AoA limiter and then yank the stick to pull off the cobra. That seems like it. Yeah...perhaps if they can give us a single value...limit the AoA to the normal levels (and normal G-loads) and then disable it to allow you to pull even more g when attempting a cobra. Either way, I guess we won't know unless Dima clarifies it himself.
-
AFAIK... i remember hearing about it in a documentary.
-
Most likely... but considering U may have to disable the AOA limiter IRL (AFAIK) to do a cobra and the fact that you can realistically perform the cobra in the PFM flanker (old update from ED on Facebook), it may be likely that the AOA limiter is somehow implemented in the upcoming FC level flanker. Hey... they did go to great lengths to simulate engine conditions, afterburner in F-15, so maybe the flanker is also getting such TLC.
