  1. Well on the news last night they were saying that the last GR4 Tornados are on their way home to be decommissioned and replaced with Typhoons
  2. Make that a F. Mk53 and I'm with you, has all the functionality of the F Mk6 plus ground targeting in the radar and a ground attack capability.
  3. There are some on the English Electric Lightning Facebook group, don't think that particular one is on there but there are a lot that are not available through ebay or online manual sites including a weapons manual. Most have been posted up by ex-pilots and maintainers. https://www.facebook.com/groups/eelightning/ That manual is the Saudi Airforce Pilots Notes for the F MK.53, BAC 53-(SA)-6 Issue 2 Like all the other manuals I have seen there is no section about the Redtop missile, those are still classified, they should be coming up on the 30 year mark now and maybe a small chance to get them de-classified.
  4. Remember the export version had a ground attack capability too with SNEB rockets, bombs and Matra rockets, and not forgetting a reconnaissance pack as well. The EE Lightning is the only aircraft I would take before the F-14 :)
  5. Might well be the same guy then, thanks. I know that Ian has a brother called Stuart and their father was Air Vice Marshal of the RAF. I've chatted with Ian a few times and got him to sign his books on the E.E. Lightning for me. It was of note that George and Ian were the only father and son to fly the Lightning.
  6. Did I hear my name get called?
  7. Was Stuart Black any relation to George Black and Ian Black? Both George (father) and Ian (son) were Lightning pilots in the RAF.
  8. Having flown both small private aircraft and RAF aircraft with a facemask on, I can say that the mic in the facemask has a lot cleaner sound to it compared with a set of Peltor headphones with a boom mic. Just don't heavy breath at your instructor :D
  9. Thought he was using a Texan dictionary, Y'all.
  10. I hope the get the flight model correct and it performs as it should irrespective of whether that is better or worse than any other aircraft.
  11. and on the D model the glove vane housing held the RWR antennas
  12. Aaand in this one the CAP is missing: But it does have a LANTRIN handle :)
  13. I have the Thrustmaster Elite pedals and had them longer than I care to think about, at the same time I got the TM. FLCS/TQS to make a set. Much later I got the TM. Cougar but the elite pedals are heavy with a strong detent, the springs in them are strong enough that you can push your chair back without moving the pedal.
  14. Bio Baranek was showing his name tags recently and over the years and the has them with both TOPGUN and TOP GUN on them. Edit found them again:
  15. it's 30 minutes into 2019 and no new videos yet! Happy 2019 everybody
  16. Check their Facebook page they made a statement there: https://www.facebook.com/PolychopSimulations/ Hopefully they will post it on the forum here :)
  17. I wheel mine in to hold my beverages and snacks, also to hold manuals and books while I'm simming whether aircraft, hunting or race cars. I also use it when I'm just watching films, it has been a great and handy addition to my gear. Disclaimer: I never participated in the above survey.
  18. I knew there was a reason they put the Yak into DCS :D :pilotfly:
  19. Thanks, I had forgotten about that post
  20. How will INS degraded operation be handled? Will INS drift be modelled and a corresponding drift in the RIO's waypoints?
  21. Knowing my luck it would be like my car... Alicatt: "Navigation, Destination Kwakstraat" Car: "Destination set, Maria Ziekenhuis" Alicatt: *&$£€@ "NAVIGATION, DESTINATION Kwakstraat" Car: "Destination set, Airport" Alicatt: "you are fired, where is my TomTom..."
  22. Brings the dry NATOPS to life, great video and a very easy to listen to voice. Thanks guys
  23. I'm a good bit into my 60s and still have those child like impulses … then the knees strike back :doh:
  24. The LANTRIN video was shown on the large radar screen and was controlled by a side stick
  25. Push button, from reading the NATOPS some buttons could be half pushed, but that made me wonder how the hang you would do that in a hard manoeuvring aircraft
