  1. Same problem here, updated and then asked to log in and crash
  2. Number 1 is what I did, used the Win 7 Ult key and updated to Win10 pro, then after my motherboard failed and I had to rebuild a complete new system I installed a clean Win10 pro 64bit and activated it using the old Win 7 Ult key no problems.
  3. Going from a GTX760 to a RTX2080 Super Stryx Advanced Gaming was a bit of an eye opener so to speak, don't have any figures for before, but free flight over Caucus map I'm getting 90 - 130 fps over the cities (all settings High 1920x1080) and 140 - 160fps over open terrain in the F-14B
  4. Just over 10 years ago I built myself what was at the time a fairly high spec machine, i7 965, 8GB RAM 2x 2TB HDD in RAID and from before that I had an Athlon 64 which I had for 6 years or so. I'm hoping I get as good a run out of this new PC as I have had before. Going from the i7 965 24GB RAM GTX760 to the i9 9900k 64GB RAM RTX2080Super has been a huge step up in performance, I know that my PC is a bit of over kill in terms of gaming but for video editing and photoshop work it's like night and day compared with what I had before. I do some work in converting old home videos, VHS, VHSc, SVHS, 8mm, Hi8, D8, DV to DVD and/or Bluray and also digitising photographic slides either as images or as videos. As the software got more powerful so my old PC got slower. Before I retired part of my work was to make corporate sales videos tailored to the particular customer's needs/wants.
  5. This one tripped me up, as well as the 2 NVMe M2 I had stuck a HDD on SATA5 oops! man it took an age to boot up the PC and it was when I seen the above comment that reminded me there was mention of it in the user guide. Removed the offending HDD and now booting up in a few seconds. Phew!
  6. on the Open Beta in free flight on high settings in the Caucus map with the F-14 I'm getting between 130 and 160 fps over open terrain and between 90 and 120 over cities Well pleased with that especially after what I was getting before :)
  7. When I ordered the ROG Maximus xi Hero it has built in heat spreaders for the two M2 slots but the supplier still included 2 heat spreaders with the 2 Evo 970 NVMe 1TB drives. The ones on the MoBo are bigger and have some fins on them compared with the freebies from the supplier. You can just see the heat spreader just above the AIO pump
  8. Well that was a bit of a mare! Somehow corrupted my Windows install and had to re install it all again, this time a clean install. Almost back up and running … at least the PC is now booting :D
  9. New card arrived last night was too busy with other stuff to be able to install it. Just took it out of the box, boy is it heavy! 1.447kg that's quite a bit more than I expected. Ok now to go install the ROG Stryx RTX2080S A8G
  10. Just finished watching the video, very interesting and it explains a lot I did not know before. Once my new graphics card arrives (prob. Tuesday) I will look in to it further and see what I can do. Now, I did see on the video that the motherboard is the same as mine as is the CPU, it also rates the cooler and his came out at 161, mine is rated at 164 by the motherboard. I guess I have to make sure that it does not fill up with cat hair :D
  11. As I don't normally OC my PC, it should be fine for a while. The H80i V2 radiator is about double the thickness of the H80 and the H110/H150, the radiator itself is about the thickness of the H80 plus an attached fan, the pump is different as are the fans on the H80i. I tried putting the fan from the H80 on the radiator of the H80i and it did not give the same level of cooling as a single fan that came with the H80i and having the two fans on the radiator did make a difference from just having one fan on it. I made a mistake in putting the H80 fan on with the H80i fan and that was noisy, it was that which made me look at the different fans and try them out in different configurations. here is the HW monitor readings you enquired about, but not from the test earlier today just from sitting here as it is now. Ok challenge accepted, … goes gets bottle of beer (Kasteel Donker 11%abv) I essentially hope he does not say that word too often ;)
  12. Thought I would put some stress on the CPU using the inbuilt stress test in CPU-Z just to see how the H80i V2 AIO would cope with it. Max temp was a peak of 66°c it was holding 63°C before and after that peak, a bit warmer than I would like but still well within the CPUs limits I did check out some reviews before I bought the H80i V2 it was the best cooler I could get that would fit in my small case, I have read various other reviews of Corsair AIOs and even the larger H110, H150 did not come out as good as the H80i. I did have the older H80 before but the pump failed after a year or so of use on the i7 965. Some screen shots from the hours worth of stress: First is the idle before starting the test, and the other 2 are after an hour's stress.
  13. My wife's laptop and mine are about 10 years old, almost the same spec Lenovo X201T, mine has an i7 8GB RAM and an SSD, wife's is an with i5 8GB RAM, and HDD, I use mine in the car as a moving map for off road driving which I really needed the SSD for. You really do notice the difference in boot times between the 2 machines and my wife does complain about it too, Ach, maybe one day I'll relent and get her an SSD... well it's cheaper than a new touch screen laptop :megalol:
  14. I did have a Windows Home Server (a modified Siemens Scaleo 1900) that I used for my cinema and to store my music and videos on but after a few years I took it down and reallocated the storage to the JBOD as I was the only one really using the server, it was getting too much like work keeping it up to date and such. Sell the SSDs? nah, stick them in the wife's laptop that would speed it up a bit ;)
  15. At the moment it is handling it just fine, it was the cooler from the i7 965 as it was all that would fit in my old case and even then with the case/MoBo layout I could only fit one fan to the radiator, and it struggled to keep the i7 965 cool. In the Phanteks P400a DRGB case with the above system, I have the two fans on it and running at 4.9GHz it gets up to around 36.9c (running Star Citizen for about 1.5 hours), at idle it is sitting 24c to 26c with the fans set to quiet. So far I have been quite surprised at how well it is holding up. But I do take your point, and there is plenty of room in the case to put a larger cooler in to it.
  16. My ED folder is 174GB and I do not have all the modules, I have it on a 500GB 860 Evo SSD. And like was mentioned somewhere above it is almost getting to 1 SSD per game, which reminds me I need a few extra drive cages for my new PC, 2 1TB M.2 NVMe on the MoBo, 2 SSD and 2 HDDs for pictures and documents etc. I did have a 5 disk JBOD on an eSATA for extra storage but my new MoBo does not have an eSATA to hook it up to.
  17. Thanks for that information. I've just put together a similar system after the MoBo died (Asus PT6se, i7 965 24GB RAM) on my last PC build, just waiting for the ROG RTX 2080 super arriving next week but specs are i9 9900k, ROG Maximus xi Hero, 64GB Corsair 3000 RAM, M.2 NVMe Samsung 970 1TB (2 of them), H80i V2 AIO, and the 2 EVO 850/860 500GB SSDs from my last PC as additional storage. Just now I'm still using the GTX760 from the last PC but it really does hold things back :)
  18. The TCS can be used to help identify targets when switched to radar it will be slaved to the reconnaissance target line of sight. There are a few more steps to it than that but looks like you can use the TCS to see the target waypoint selected. The images from the Digital Imaging system can be stored locally and /or transmitted back to base. I used also Pullnix cameras in my line of work and they were very good :) HUD symbology is similar to what is used for steering cues for dropping bombs. Some pics of the sensors from the later TARPS-CD: https://bobtourville.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html
  19. From what I have read the earlier film cameras did not have a "viewfinder" like display in the cockpit but that the later digital ones did have an image repeat on the TID
  20. It's certainly possible with the F-16 block 30, a maintainer managed to do it in Belgium and wrecked another F-16 quite recently. First article in this report:
  21. Yeah when you are driving along the glens in Scotland and a Tornado flashes past you and you have to look down to see it. But then again they have to look down on the Buccaneer they just passed, it's about the only thing that flew lower than a Tornado. Or they are having to climb to get over car and then rock their wings as they pass you. It had it's moments living in a low flying zone.
  22. Some lovely colour schemes on the German Tornados NATO tiger meet 2009
  23. Any of these please, Kleine Brogel NATO Tiger Meet 2009.
  24. Go pro type underwater camera, Block 30 passing overhead while testing the cam out in the pool :)
