  1. Beautiful for the manufactor, or for the customer?
  2. That's sad to hear, as all of their throttles look pretty nice and as if they are from high quality. Hand made isn't bad in general, often it's a sign of high quality and exclusive manufacturing. Every Ferrari is completely hand made. And i wouldn't call these cars beeing from bad quality. Very dissapointing this doesen't count for Throttletek... I was thining about getting in contact with them, but you just convinced me to stay with my Warthog throttle.
  3. Thanks for the informations. I'm going to take a look into this though.
  4. The nuke dropping story has some good reasons. Germany accepted to be involved into nuclear weapons delivery and therefore recieved power of co-decision from the US, when and where nukes are dropped. The french rejected that power of co-decision for their nukes, so germany better stay with the USA in that term. The F-35 Story with turkey is nothing to worry about. Erdogan tried to fool his allies and under his power, turkey has become a troublemaker and nothing more. The decision to ban the turks from the F-35 project is absolutely correct and necessary. This has nothing to do with political pressure (unlike China tries if there is only the smalles sign of critism towards the red facist regime in beijing), but with protecting high end military technology knowledge from beeing impart to Russia or China by Turkey. Turkey is just not dependable and can't be trusted anymore, plain and simple.
  5. Not a problem. On holiday this week, so got plenty of time :)
  6. Teamspeak issue? Never heard about it. Do you have a link? Just out of curiousity, why would you include the pedals into your Target profile, while axis are mapped in DCS anyways? IMO there is no need for that and pedals can be excluded from the profile without missing any functions. Correct me if i'm wrong...
  7. Yes, it was a nice offer. Pretty disapointing it's not available anymore. Still hoping it's coming back to the shop someday, but their shop is closed right now due to the Covid-19 pandemy and no orders are possible for any of their products. Thanks for the link btw. i'll take a look at it. edit: 55 US-$/50 €? Wow, that's realy breath taking. Dammit, if i only ordered the one from UK back when it was available...
  8. Yes, pretty expensive for "ordinary" headphones, but still not the top notch. The sound quality is excellent and the best for headphones i ever experienced. But as i said, pretty much overkill for only playing PC games. I used to make hardtechno with turntables in younger days and my affinity for sound quality is a leftover from these years. Otherwise, i wouldn't spend that much money for a headphone as well, i guess. Sennheiser is also a very good manufactor for headphones and i think they have a few headphones below 100$. Maybe you wanna take a look at their products. Not sure if Beyerdynamic has headphones in that price range, but is propably worth a google search. Good luck with your decision! Cheers
  9. With ingame i meant inside the DCS contoller settings. The switch positions you mentioned not beeing recognised by DCS aren't recognised as buttons in windows either. You will need Target or another mapping software, i.e. Joystick Gremlin to map those. Target is the domestic software of TM and JG is a 3rd party software not dependant on manufactors. Target is a bit annoying in the beginning and you'll need to get used to it. I did by trial and error and i remember watching a youtube tutorial, wich was very helpful. I will see if i can find it again, as it is about 2 years ago. I'm not sure why you can't switch to the Target window when DCS is running. I had no issues with that while mapping, besides the DCS open beta crashed sometimes doing it. Again, annoying but realy worth the work IMO. I have all switch positions mapped in Target, not only those wich aren't recognised by the game. The advantage of that is, that you won't loose your mappings if there are issues with a DCS update. I've read about people that lost their mappings and had to start from scratch after certain DCS updates. A way to map your switches "ON" and "OFF" position in DCS is to modify the .lua file of the specific aircraft you wanna fly. I.e. for the Hornet (for other aircrafts as well), there is a "joystick special" category in the controller setup. Those will make use of both switch positions of the Warthog, but the available functions are very limited. I remember the APU on/off special joystick function to work with both switch positions. By modifying your Hornet .lua file, you can add more of these "joystick special" commands to the mapping list and make the switches work as intended. I'd recommend to have a backup of the original file, as well as of the modified one. Just in case something goes wrong or an update will reset your .lua file. But to be honest, i have no clue about .lua modification, so these infos might not be 100% accurate. There are some real experts on this here on the forum that might help you out if you want to try it. A lot of ppl also share their .lua file setting on the forum, just ask for it and i'm sure someone will be glad to assist you. The DCS community is in general very helpful indeed. I'm sure once you discovered a solution and have your HOTAS work as intended, you'll forget about the starting issues pretty fast. Was the same for me (and a lot of others) in the beginning, so don't give up. You won't regret. edit: This the tutorial i watched back then. As stated above, was very helpful with getting into Target https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t_aRlS5Jvc Cheers
  10. Throttletek offers a F-14 Tomcat throttle replica, but it is very expensive. Price is 800 US-$.Besides that they have only civilian airliner throttle replicas in stock. edit: according to their homepage, they offer custom throttles production. You tell them what you want and they will make one for you. At least this is how i interpret this offer. https://throttletek.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghmjbvIElsQ
  11. So i started DCS without target running but there are no mappings on the physical controller. I clicked on category delete for the Warthog Throttle to make sure i have not missed anything, but the problem remains. BARO ALT function can be assigned and input is recognised in the DCS controller settings, means i press the buttons on the keyboard/toggle switch on the throttle and it jumps to the BARO ALT line in the controller setup, but there is no effect when trying that in the pit. So i'm pretty sure this is either a faulty installation, or a bug that came up with the last update. If anyone could try this out in his settings/pit would be much appreciated. Still thanks for all the attempts to help me out...
  12. I'm aware of that. As i stated above, i have every switch position mapped in target, but for the BARO ALT function, there is no effect ingame since the last update. The input is still recognised in the DCS control settings, but has no effect ingame. Not when using the switch on the throttle and not when pressing the keys on my keyboard.
  13. Ok, i'll give that a try and report. Still curious if other users have the same issue with that function...
  14. Depends on what you want. I personally prefer headphones that have no microphone (wich is why i use a separate necktie mic), since these are mostly meant to listen to music/watch movies and therefor have excellent hi-fi sound quality. Also i'm using it not only for DCS/PC games, but for watching movies and listening to music as well (as intended), wich is why i wanted something better than a ordinary gaming headphone. I got the beyerdynamic Aventho, wich is a great "on ear" wireless headphone. The beyerdynamic Lagoon is a very good "over ear" headphone, also wireless. But these two are propably a bit overkill for only DCS, as both are 380€ and 400€. Well i guess that's the price if stuff is not made in China, as beyerdynamic produces in germany. But if you buy cheap (made in China), you'll buy twice.
  15. May i ask wich one you ordered? There used to be one in the UK for like 20€, but is not available anymore on the manufactors homepage. Would have saved me a lot of shipping costs to germany...
  16. No, i haven't. Always started DCS with the virtual controller already running. You think that a mapping on the actual TM throttle may cause this issue? But how does it come, that using the keyboard doesen't work either... and the inputs are recognised perfectly in the controls setup. That's realy strange...
  17. I checked the controls again and couldn't find any unwanted mappings. I find it to be strange, that the input via throttle AND via keyboard is recognised in the controls setup, but both input devices do not work in the pit with that mapping. I mapped BARO ALT with LSHIFT + V and RDR ALT with LCTRL + V. I tried to map BARO ALT with other keybinds, still the same problem. Input is recognised in the controls setup, but does not work in the pit. Not when toggling the switch on the throttle and not when pressing the keys on the keyboard. Maybe someone could do me a favor and map BARO ALT in DCS, jump in the pit, switch to radar alt and then try to go back to baro alt with that keybind. I'm curious if it's just my install or if i found a bug...
  18. I remember going through the same situation when i got my Warthog. It was annoying back then but as mentioned, it was worth the work and i never regret. I don't use Joystick Gremlin as i started with Target and didn't know about JG back then, otherwise i would have propably choosed JG. You can set the LED's on the throttle to turn on/out if any button is pressed, but afaik it is not related to a DCS feedback. I don't know if this is possible via .lua file modification in combination with the Target script editor.
  19. Not realy. I have not modified my .lua file but have only mapped all 2 and 3 way switches in Target. Master Arm ON/OFF, Refuel probe RET/EXT, Laser Arm ON/STBY/AFT, Hook up/down, everything works fine and proir to the update the altimeter switch did too. I had BARO ALT on the "ON" position of a 2 way switch and RDR ALT on the "OFF" position. And now only the BARO/RDR ALT toggle functions work to go back to baro. And it is not a Target issue, since using the keyboard doesen't work as well for BARO ALT. This is definately a DCS issue unrelated to some .lua manipulation, as i never modified any lua files. Question is, is it a bug or a wasted install.... edit: One more thing. Using the throttle switch for BARO ALT in the controls setup does recognise the input (same when using the keyboard), it's just not working as soon as i try in the cockpit. So it has definately nothing to do with Target, my throttle or my keyboard. It is a DCS issue that occured after the last update.
  20. The virtual controller should now show up in your DCS controller list instead of the throttle/stick. The keybinds you mapped in target will not show up in the DCS controller list/virtual controller category, but should work as intended. Map your switches and buttons in Target and only your axis in DCS for the virtual controller and give it a try in flight. It should perfectly work, i never had any issues with that. Target needs a bit training and playing around with it as it is not as intuitive as it should be. But as soon as you are in the know, it's a great tool and provides great features and functions. Not using Target (or similar software) means you're missing a huge amount of the Warthogs potential.
  21. Hi all, Not sure if this is a bug or my install is wasted. I have mapped the BARO ALT and RDR ALT in DCS to use it on my throttle and now recognised since the last update, that the BARO ALT function does not work anymore. Regardless what keybind i'm using, if i toggle the switch on the throttle or use the keyboard, i can now only switch back to barometric altitude by using the BARO/RDR ALT toggle function (or click the switch in the cockpit), but the pure BARO ALT function stopped working. Not realy a big deal as there is a workaround with the toggle function, but i think this should be mentioned. Does anyone else experienced that issue or may this be a install repair case? Cheers
  22. It does. The virtual controller is recognised by DCS as a new device and you'll have to remap it, but it's worth the little amount of work. You can map the virtual controller then in Target, or in DCS, or a mixed mapping. Not a big deal. Just make sure to set the signal in target to "pulse" instead of "hold" for the permanent switches. Target is only for mapping buttons and switches, the axis for the virtual controller still have to be defined/mapped in DCS. You can also map sequences in Target, i.e. mapping one button to reset zoom and center view at the same time. The downside is, that the virtual controller can only have 8 axis since windows limits axis and buttons per controller. The Warthog throttle has 5 axis and the stick 2, but you can decide wich device should be included to the virtual controller profile. I have only set the throttle as virtual controller while i map my sticks and pedals in DCS
  23. This can be easily done for all functions and all 2 and 3 way switches on the Warthog by simply using Target or Joystick gremlin. No one needs to manipulate DCS files for that, wich is a very complicated solution compared to additional software where you can do this with 2 mouse clicks.
  24. Somehow yes, but this will not help for every X-55/56. Some ppl had no luck with that solution. Also you'll need an excellent powered USB Hub for that as not every powered hub provides enough power to stop the X-55/56 from ghosting. Only very few hubs will solve that problem reliably and the cheap hubs won't help much, i tried a few. I ended up with the TP-Link UH720 powered 7 USB hub, wich is a 50$ high class hub. BUT there must be only the X-55 throttle plugged into that hub. As soon as i plugged in any other device (i.e. the X-55 stick), that crappy thing started ghosting again. On that same hub i'm currently running 7 devices without any issues: TM TPR pedals TM Warthog throttle TM Warthog base/Hornet grip VPC WarBRD base/Warthog grip 3x TM cougar MFD While the X-55 throttle started ghosting if there was only one additonal device plugged in. In short terms, the X-55/56 is crap. Yet alone due to the fact you'll have to purchase additional hardware to make it work as intended. Also the ghosting issue is not the only flaw of the X-55/56. Another thing is the crappy friction wheel. Set it too tight and it will cause button issues on the throttle, means some buttons won't work at certain throttle positions. I had this problem too. Also some buttons just stopped working right after warranty ended. These problems are well known since the very first day the X-55 hit the market and Logitech didn't solve any of these problems. They just shot new paint on exactly the same hardware, renamed it to X-56 and started to sell it for 80-100 bucks more than the X-55. I remember my X-55 was at 150€ new, the X56 is 250€. For the same crappy piece of plastic.
  25. How about a necktie microphone you can clip to your shirts collar? I use the Rode Lavalier GO and absolutely happy with it. Rode produces professional microphones for music and TV studios and their quality is superb. However, the quality displays the prices. Rode microphones aren't cheap, but provide excellent sound/speak quality. The Lavalier GO is one of their less expensive mics and is at 70€ (~80 US$) over here. Btw, why do you want to have the conversation on your speakers? I use my 5.1 system only for envroinment sound effects, like engines, detonations etc. and have warning sounds, radio and voice chat on my headphones. With voice chat on your speakers, you might get reaction coupling messing up your conversations.
