Hi all, I played around in the mission editor and i'm not sure if i found something. I'm crafting a lot of 2 player coop missions for me and my buddy and always set both player aircrafts as "client". When testing the mission in the editor, i often switch the 2nd slot to an ai wingman so i can see if flags and triggers that require the second aircraft to be triggered/set. A couple of minutes ago, i wanted to convert one of my singleplayer missions for 2 player coop, swapped the ai wingman to client and modifying trigger etc. Then jumped into the cockpit to see if the new static ground crew i placed around both aircrafts is placed perfectly, so kept the client wingman to swap between slots. Problem was, that i had 2 slots in the role selction menu, but couldn't select the second one. Then i realised that the wingman client aircraft was taken by AI:shocking: I went back to ME and saw, that i forgot to change the first aircraft from "player" to client. Tested this again and everytime i set both planes to client, i was able to choose both slots and i spawned alone. Each time i set one aircraft to client and the other one to player, i had two slots in the role selection menu list but could only select the player aircraft slot while the client one was AI controlled. I could swear this did not work earlier in OB. I used the search function and could not find anything about the topic, except for that this should not work. So this leads me to two, propably a bit stupid, questions: 1. Is this a feature i missed in an earlier changelog, or is it just me confusing things? 2. Does this affect mission points? I.e. if i set both to client it counts for blue/red, respective setting one to player the othe one to client, it counts for offline points? Edit: Now that i restarted my PC and launched DCS again, i can not reproduce this in the same way. It's strange. Now i can choose both slots, but as soon as i press escape, click on select role and select the other one, the AI takes over the slot i recently got out of. Cheers AI taking MP slot.trk

Keine Ahnung ob Tacview außerhalb von Steam manchmal im Angebot ist, aber wenn sich nicht genug Leute finden würde ich empfehlen regelmäßig die Preise zu prüfen. Hab mein TacView Advanced damals im sale auf Steam für 50% reduziert gekauft.

It depends on what you're flying and what you're expecting. The Hornet grip is not a all metal construction, only the lower part is (the one you grab). Also the trigger is plastic, unlike the orig. Warthog ones wich is metal as well. Same goes for the castle switch and any other buttons on the Hornet grip. Wasn't a deal breaker for me, but for some ppl it might be. I rate the button response on the Hornet grip better than the Warthogs, especially for the trigger and the paddle switch. Ergonomics aren't great on the Hornet grip, unless you wear gloves and it was not a pain, but uncomfortable to use on a desk/as sidestick. Since i got it center mounted, angled and with extensions, it feels great. The price is another thing. TM used to sell Warthog grips as replacement part for 130-140€ in the past. Now they offer the "F-16" grip standalone for 180€ and the Hornet grip is ~190-200€. Wich i think is too expensive for what it provides (in comparison to the Warthog grip). But deals are out there! I purchased mine immediately after release, as the Hornet is my absolute favorite jet, and had a lucky deal. The webshop admin put it with the wrong price online and they realised this with the first incoming order. And that was me :thumbup: At least that's what i assume, as the price was 199,-€ the next day after my order. Since there is a law over here, that they have to deliver it for the price that was called out during the purchase, i was able to get mine for 160€ including a 4 year warranty. Also heard from people getting theirs on ebay, never used with more than a year warranty left for 130-160€. Keep searching and you may be lucky as well.

Kein Problem, wenn du den Windows Store behalten willst ist der Hinweis natürlich relativ wertlos. Bei mir trat das Problem direkt auf, als ich von Win7 auf Win10 umgestiegen bin und ich habe keine Sekunde gezögert den WS zu entfernen.

Dieses Problem hatte ich auch. Das tritt unter Windows 10 manchmal auf, weil der Windows Store einen Konflikt mit dem virtuellen Controller verursacht (Frag mich nicht warum). Entfernen des Windows Store hat das Problem bei mir dauerhaft gelöst. Der WS muss aber mit Powershell richtig entfernt und nicht nur über die Systemsteuerung deaktiviert werden. Versuch das mal:

Propably not, i'd assume the replacement cable will have the same issue. The problem also exists vice versa. I use a warBRD base as sidestick with the Warthog grip and the grip has a very loose connection to the base until it's screwed down, so i guess it's not a bad manufactured cable but Virpil using connectors that have a slightly different size to the ones TM uses. 1/10 mm isn't much, but already makes a difference for plugs of that size. On the WH base i could take my hands off the grip before tighten it down without beeing afraid it would fall off to the side. To me, HC_Officials/Svgamers suggestion sounds like the most reasonable solution if done carefully, rather than working with hot glue or similar. I think i'll give that a try when disassembling my stick next time... -
Virpil extension cable connecting really badly to TM WH base

Can confirm this. I got all of the Virpil extensions ( 50, 75. 100 and 200mm) and only the 200mm S-type extension makes a good connection to the WH base. IMO The stiff connector of the 50mm base is even worse than the cables of the 75 and 100mm tubes. I got the 50mm extension connected to the WH base, followed by the 100mm and the 200mm s-type and Hornet grip on top of this combo. The poor connection is related to the WH base connector, as the extension cables make a good connection to each other. I sometimes have to take my center stick apart and replug the extensions/cables because the connector of the 50mm extension gets loose and then my Hornet grip starts ghosting (selects AIM-7 constantly). That's pretty much annoying, so any reasonable solution for this issue is highly appreciated. -
Oh realy? I missed that... obviously. I expected some new smaller bugs, so no complaining here. Was just wondering as i haven´t used the TGP for weeks and wanted to try out auto lasing after reading this thread... there is already a post in the bug section about this.

Did anyone notice that they made the LTD/R switch in the cockpit a 2 position (ON/SAFE) switch instead of a 3 position ON/SAFE/AFT) switch prior to the update? Keybinds are deleted for that switch, also for the LST switch. Another thing i noticed with the TGP is it doing weird things when pressing cage/uncage. It won't reset to boresight anymore, but will move to a 180° masked position o.O

100% Zustimmung. Wenn die dann auch noch mit 2- 4 Spielern kooperativ gespielt werden kann, wärs ein Traum!

Definately yes. Without Target you're missing a lot of your (Warthog?) Hotas potential. You can make use of each switch positions, for each module regardless wich function you want to bind. Without editing the .lua file. Yet alone this is worth the time getting into it IMO. And Target offers much more options, such as sequences and delayed input. When getting used to Target, it becomes a very powerful tool. -
How are people storing their extra stick handles?

That's actually a pretty good idea. The brand name is Gardena btw ;) To the OP, the Virpil dust cover for sticks are also good to store grips inside. -
this never worked for me. I've always had the Hotas synchro activated and still have to "wake up" my Warthog each time i enter the simulation. Or at least on the briefing screen before i actually jump into the pit.

Stick? Keiner. Throttle wird in der Preisspanne vom T.Flight X glaube ich auch schwer... Ich würde sowieso raten wenigstens ein bisschen mehr auszugeben und den TM T16000M + TWCS Throttle kaufen. Deutlich bessere Technik und zukunftsicherer als der Hotas X. Und ist, behaupte ich, der bessere Kompromiss. Wenn du merkst, dass DCS/Flugsim dir doch nicht so liegt, hast du lange nicht so viel Geld versenkt wie bei nem Warthog und wenn du dabei bleibst, hast du gleich ein Gerät das einigermaßen solide ist und dich weit über die Anfängerphase hinaus glücklich macht. Beide Triebwerke unabhängig voneinander ansteuern geht allerdings mit dem TWCS auch nicht, dafür musst du wohl etwas tiefer in die Tasche greifen...

Target fasst alle Geräte die Du im Profil integriert hast (kann man auf der ersten Seite im Profil editor bestimmen) zu einem virtuellen Controller zusammen und ersetzt sie mit diesem. Während Dein Target Profil/Script läuft, ist der physische Controller (also Dein "alter" Warthog) deaktiviert/offline und kann von DCS nicht erkannt werden. Wenn Du DCS ohne geladenes Target Profil startest, wird auch Dein "alter" Warthog wieder mit den alten Belegungen erkannt. Leider kann man nicht beides gleichzeitig verwenden. Willst Du die Vorteile von Target nutzen, musst Du leider alles in Target neu belegen. Das ist etwas nervig, ging mir damals auch so als ich den Warthog gekauft hab. Es ist die Mühe aber wert, ich könnte auf Target nicht mehr verzichten. Ich persönlich habe nur den Throttle in meinem Profil um die Kippschalter voll auszunutzen. Meine beiden Sticks und die Pedals belege ich weiterhin normal in DCS und hab sie nicht im Target Profil aktiviert. Dann ist die Neubelegung auch nicht ganz so viel Arbeit. edit: Willst Du nicht alles neu belegen und trotzdem Master Arm, Tanksonde, Laser, FLIR, etc. so wie gedacht mit den Kippschaltern bedienen, bleibt noch wie erwähnt die Möglichkeit die .lua Datei zu bearbeiten und weitere [spezial Joystick] Funktionen einzufügen. Damit kenne ich mich allerdings nicht aus, da Target IMO die viel einfachere Methode ist und ich daher gleich darauf zurückgegriffen habe. Außerdem bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob die .lua Datei nach einem Update nicht evtl. neu modifiziert werden muss und die ganze Arbeit wieder von vorne los geht. Aber wie gesagt, damit kenne ich mich nicht aus.

Perfekt, gern geschehen! Spiel ein bisschen mit Target rum und probier ein paar Sachen aus. Wenn man erstmal dahinter gestiegen ist und weiß, was man mit Target alles machen kann, ist es ein enorm mächtiges Tool. Da bin ich mir nicht sicher. Aber nur um sicher zu gehen, du hast das Target Profil geladen bevor du DCS gestartet hast? Ansonsten kann DCS die Befehle von Target nicht erkennen. Target wird dann einen neuen virtuellen Controller erstellen der dann in DCS angezeigt wird...

Entschuldige, das Bild war etwas irreführend. Die Event Liste kannst Du nicht laden, sondern ist eine Übersicht der Funktionen die man bereits belegt hat. Ich meinte die Button List, die alle verfügbaren Funktionen/Buttons auflistet. Wenn Du dir das Bild ansiehst, das ich gepostet habe sind über der Darstellung des Throttles vier Reiter, "Pan" "Zoom In" "Zoom Out" und "List". Und in dieser Liste musst Du den Button/Schalter auswählen und dann mit einer Funktion belegen. In dieser List findest Du auch die Funktionen der Kippschalter für beide (alle drei) Positionen. Wichtig ist bei Kippschaltern (und beim IDLE/Cutoff) dass Du das Signal auf "pulse" stellst anstatt auf "hold", damit beim Betätigen das Signal nur einmal und nicht dauerhaft gesendet wird. Gruß

Tatsächlich? Man lernt nie aus... Wenn du in Target die Schalter und Knöpfe belegen willst such in der Liste nach "IDLERON" und "IDLELON" sowie nach "IDLEROFF" und "IDLELOFF" und beleg die Schalter mit den entsprechenden ingame Funktionen.

Um jede Stellung der Kippschalter mit Funktionen zu belegen musst Du Target o.ä. Software verwenden, z.B. Joystick Gremlin. Damit kannst Du dann auch IDLE/Cutoff als Schalter belegen um z.B. die Triebwerke beim Startup in den Leerlauf zu fahren indem Du den/die Schubhebel nach vorne schiebst, bzw. um die Triebwerke abzuschalten indem Du den/die Schubhebel zurück über den Anschlag ziehst. In DCS selbst gibt es nur relativ wenige Steuerbefehle um beide Stellungen der Schalter am Warthog Throttle zu belegen. Diese sind mit [spezial Joystick] gekennzeichnet. Alternativ kannst Du auch die .lua Datei bearbeiten um weitere Spezial Joystick Befehle einzufügen, dann kannst Du auf Target o.ä. verzichten. Gruß

Look NineLine, this is absolutely understandable and ppl (including me) tried to avoid this kind of comparision by using cars as example. Flamin Squirrel asked for an example of the same sector in order to make the car arguement invalid. So there is literally nothing to compare except for other games. Since people argue that cars/mobile phones or whatever aren't comparable it was very telling those people were immediately running out of arguements towards the ID example. I assumed that before i mentioned it, wich was the intention to bring it up. If that is not legit, it's fine. No offense here at all, just argueing. My opinion is not ED is slow because there is no competition (i actually believe there is). The Hornets developement slowed significantly down with the release of the F-16C, wich can't be denied. I remember it beeing promised that the F-16 will not affect the Hornets developement and no Hornet dev will move over to the Viper, wich turned out to be not true. And as mentioned before, my concerns are not primarily about the delay, but about the Hornet leaving EA with a long list of missing features. Take the time you need to finish it, but keep it in EA until it's feature complete. I think that is what most ppl would like to see. Look at the Harrier and how long it has been in EA for now, so nothing to worry about with the Hornet beeing in EA for another year. I have no doubt DCS beeing the best flight sim out there, otherwise i wouldn't play it hands down. And i'm abolutely aware about the challenges and demands the developement of a sandbox study lvl flight sim comes with and those are more complicated than i.e. shooters. BUT exactly this should be a reason not to come up with more EA products as longs as the actual one hasn't been finished. I'm not talking about the Hind or the P47 at all, since theses are obviously different dev teams. But about a second jet (F-16) and the question is, will there be another jet before F-16 and 18 are feature complete? Not out of EA, feature complete as this is abviously not the same anymore. I purchased the F-16 because i was positive surprised about the progress of the Hornet and thought it would be the same with it. I was wrong and i never complained about it, even if there are good reasons for. I'm just afraid (and much others too) that the Hornet leaves EA, will not get the same attention as before and will take years to be feature complete while at the same time new EA jets will be developed. This is my main concern and i think it is eligible to name it. Btw. purchased a 2003 built M3 in 2006 wich is still running and looking like new. This is a bit longer than the DCS A-10C does even exists...;)

Old x52 vs. Warthog HOTAS?

Way better build quality, better button quality/response, better materials (metal construction), better precision, way better customer support. But the most important advantage over Saitek/Logitech products is, the Warthog will open the door to a world of modifying and customisation the X-52 can never provide. There are countless mods for the Warthog, such as a different slew control, different afterburner detents etc. Another very important feature is, that Thrustmaster uses the same PS2 connector for their grips/joystick base as Virpil or Realsimulator does. So you can use grips of these manufactors on your TM base as well. Slew control and the plastic gimbal are the flaws of the Warthog, but more than acceptable if compared to the advantages that thing comes with. I use the Warthog for roughly 2 years now and never had any problems with the gimbal. Stock slew control is useless, but there are easy to install mods for that. Maybe you wanna check out the TM homepage. Sometimes they offer products beeing sent back from customers without beeing used. Those have a second quality check, zero technical problems and come with half a year of warranty. They wont sell you a broken one. One of my friends managed to get a Warthog HOTAS for $250 this way and there was no signs of usage to that thing. No scratches, no button issues, it was like a standard sold new one, just with less warranty and he owns it for like 1 year now without any issues. If i knew about this possibility before i purchased mine, i propably would have purchased one this way as well. It's definately worth a look. Cheers
