Helmet mounted display to be added at some point?
Griffin replied to Serp Supreme's topic in DCS Wishlist
I disagree. It would be a huge help in pointing the TGP quickly in the direction of a SAM launch for example. Even just this is really helpful in Ka-50. It would reduce the required maneuvering and give some additional freedom. Add some flight information to that and it would be awesome! -

Brasil`s govenment will buy the Saab Gripen
Griffin replied to jomar machado's topic in Military and Aviation
Gripen wasn't even in service when Finland was considering options in the early 90ies. Even though Gripen was in the competition, the Hornet was already in service and a proven versatile platform. Finland did jump into the NH90 program very early though but I guess the thinking had changed. Hornet has also just received the mid life upgrade which tells that it's way too early to be already switching to a new type. They are preparing the competition for the next fighter though and Gripen will most definitely be in. The Hornet will pass out in 2030 at the latest so the current version of Gripen might be old by then. Congratulations to Saab! Whether it's the best choice for Brazil or not, I'm sure they won't be disappointed with the quality. -
Oh well I guess there used to be some color codes but I haven't heard of them in modern times. That was filmed before I was born. :) The first pilots sure did bring something else too from there. ;) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151472303349206&set=o.33519393793&type=1&relevant_count=1 Now that I visited the Facebook page again, there's some interesting stuff.

I didn't hear of any colors during my service and internship. They are numbered and named according to their location. They use fully NATO compatible English in their communications with western call signs and everything. At the time of their retirement they were based in Rovaniemi (Lapland) and Pirkkala (Southern Finland). The third, most easternmost, fighter base is located in Kuopio and operated the MiG-21bis. The bases did relocate during the service of Draken though. I really want to go to Sweden to see the Draken flying! You are lucky to have your historic jets still flying. :)

This Guy Flies A Helicopter Like He Was Born In It!!

From the cockpit it looks much less hectic and very safe. His control is really solid. Check it out! -
From the archives: Nostalgic Finnish Saab Draken and MiG-21bis action. I would kill for DCS: Draken! ;)

"Vot eto da!" is a normal expression of awe. "That was quite something" would be quite close in English. He does swear too, just some generic Russian naughty words.

Awesome seventies helicopter chase! Reminds me of the book "Low Level Hell" where a newbie Loach scout pilot literally boxed down a Viet Cong into a rise paddy. Then he held him under his skid until his instructor pilot finally caught up running with a heavy flak vest in the muddy field. He got a medal for that before being even checked out to fly the OH-6 by himself.

Spot on Samri! Thanks PeterP! You made another module playable for me. Amazing how much such visual effect can affect my pilotage. Now I really enjoy the jiggle! Your settings are perfect.
