solved AI Port Side Door Gunner Skin Bug
DishDoggie replied to DishDoggie's topic in Bugs and Problems
Learning As I Go THIS IS NOT A BUG kind of... It has a FIX I fixed this problem by adding this line in the Description.lua file. So if you ever make a pilot_uh1_patch_1_cavalery (Default File Name) File with New Patches for the Crew Members (Door Gunners) You will need to add 2 lines to the Description.lua file to make them show up. The 1st Line with be for just the front seat Ai Skins It is the one in the Default lua file we all use now {"pilot_UH1_patch", 0, "pilot_uh1_patch_255.dds",false}; Understanding the Red file name is your custom named Patch.dds file. To Make the PORT DOOR GUNNERS load you have to add this line to the Description.lua file as well. {"gunner_UH1_patch", 0, "pilot_uh1_patch_255.dds", false}; This is why I thought it was a bug. But it is the Lack of this forgotten line that makes one Gunner have the Custom skin and the PORT SIDE DOOR GUNNER to have the Game Default skin load up because it is listed in the Skin information for the 3D model Programing you can find using the Model Viewer to load the Gunner model and then print out the Lua file for it. -
Load any skin User Made it Doesn't matter All DCS Stock Skins have the Bug too. Find a Skin with AI patches on their arms that are NOT Game Default of the pilot_UH1_patch_1_cavalery.dds and you will see both pilots up front and the Starboard Door Gunner are now the new Patch *.dds file but the Port side Door Gunner will always be the default pilot_UH1_patch_1_cavalery.dds file. No Lua file change I have found has fixed the Port side Door Gunners Patch Bug. Has anyone ever found a work around for this? I'm sure it has been reported long ago.

Update on the Skin for my Single player mission with this skin. All Black Interior. No more OD Green for My Coast Guard Huey. All black Seats and Harness's up front. Custom Dash inside Panel With Bob's Girlfriend taped to the Dash and Unit sticker. This was hard for me to figure out but I did it using the Model Viewer. The only smart move I've made without needing help with. Honest this view outside in of the Dash with the stickers on it will not show up till you edit the file then us the description lua file to load it right. {"ab212_int_panel", DIFFUSE , "uh1_int", false}; I have a custom name for this uh1_int file but not shown here {"ab212_int_white", DIFFUSE , "uh1_int", false}; {"ab212_int_green", DIFFUSE , "uh1_int", false}; That made the uh1_int.dds edited file load the decals to be seen from the outside. Not the same file as the inside Dash Panel uh1_panel_c_gray.dd I want to add this skin to the Single Player Mission when It and the other Skin files are finished. Other Coast Guard Skins can not be Redistributed so I'm Forced to Make my own to add to my mission for when I upload it. If I ever finish it. Making skins is so hard to do I have deep respect for people that do make Skins and I understand why they don't want them redistributed after being forced to learn and make what I have to this point. Do you like the Black Safety Harness's? Man I think I will put them in everything I ever make with some Dark OD Green ones for Military No more White Lt Gray ones. They are so ugly IMO.

Trimmer modes in the special menu
DishDoggie replied to sobe's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I never use the trim. I fly in VR I just don't need it. I have watched some real pilots fly (DCS) on YouTube and they didn't use it. Turn Turbulence on and set some wind to give you real life conditions and learn to fly that way. It will be fun. -
@Bummer I don't know how to thank you for your awesome help and Wow deep respect for your kindness and your knowledge to get me to the finish line. Thank You

I can not thank you more for the help Thank You So Much

Thank You and I'm sad to say this type of file is way above my head. I found it but when I copy it and open it in Gimp it is almost nothing to see in that the file opacity is reduced to nothing visible to see or make out. I don't know how to manipulate it to use it. Thanks for your help.

I've been looking for the file folder and image file that has the seat belt straps image.dds files for the Huey but can not locate any? has any one found them? can you point me in the correct Dir. for the file. I want to change the color from the bright gray to Black. They look ugly light gray. I failed to find them with the Model viewer.

I wanted to make a skin for the Huey and found out things as a new skinner : NOTE this is a first time skin makers views. 1st I will say I have SO much respect for Skin Makers that Know What They Are Doing. 2nd You need to teach yourself so much about how to use just the software to make so many special files the skins use it is crazy. College Courses could be given on just making DCS Skins. Why??? You have old skins made one way and newer skins made another way This skin needs this type of file this skin needs another kind of file. You need to write a LUA file on top of the Graphics Files you make to tell the Game what all this stuff is and what to load on the Aircraft and what part to load it to. Learn the file structure of all the Graphics files in DCS to access them when needed. At this point I am babbling like a idiot because it is SO HARD. This is just MY OPINION. You don't find tons of videos on how to skin in DCS because it is so hard to Teach someone all they need to know and do to get to the Good skinners level they don't have the time to make all the lessons to do it. Then if you are using GIMP instead of Photo Shop Well You need to learn to do it another way. Who has the time to teach you how to get that far into how to skin? People are Kind and Will try to help you out and Answer your Questions but they can't hold your hand to teach you every step in the process. You need to be knowledgeable about Graphic file manipulation with Layers, Masks, Paths, Lightmaps, Spectrum, RGB file Manipulation babble like a idiot I know nothing and just enough to get me into trouble and all I have managed to do is Learn how to take a DCS template make layers for the outside of the uh-1h model how to make interior files for the model how to make Pilot skin files for the uniforms and helmet how to make Some Spec files (Not ALL) and try to make the LUA file to make it all work in the game. I feel like I am a drowning person at the 5 second still alive point just before drowning. Look for and use the DCS MODEL viewer program inside the files of the game and learn how to use it to load the 3d model files and skins to view them and to file locate all the skin files used by the game. Another lesson to learn. You will have question after question. DEEP RESPECT to the DCS SKINNERS NOT LIKE ME. That know what they are doing. Every once in a while a Idiot will manage to crawl under the wire into the new skin release download section of user skin downloads. This is how I will feel when I finally release my Huey skin I want for my custom mission that will probably not matter to any one like this Babbling Opinion. DON'T Give up You are able to do this just want you to know you will need to learn a lot of stuff. Find the Discord channel for DCS Skinner help Deep Respect to Them. Very Smart people hang out there. I suck at skinning (Kindergarten level) Best of luck to you I'm sure you will Far out reach my level skill luck and knowledge.

I'm making my first skin it is for the Huey. It is for use with no hard points. Each time I use the Model Viewer to check my Skin it looks perfect but it shows it with hard points. When I go in game to see it test fly with skin updates it has No Hard Points and I go Craze over the TAIL being flat Paint and the Front Body being Shiny. All this time I have been thinking I have done something wrong with the Skin work. I know this is no help to you or me but I have the same issue. I don't know the Answer. I am using the DCS Template on a new fresh custom made Skin platform NO USED files.

Working on the outside, Skinning is hard, DCS needs to make this Easier. Wow deep respect to you Skinners. Way harder then I ever thought it would be.

VR settings For AMD Navi2 Based systems (6900xt/3900x/G2)
DishDoggie replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
Without a doubt one of the best VR posts. Thank You for this post @nikoel This Video Post was not made by me but I use it all the time after a Update. I would like to add it to the post just because of the Mask removal of the output screen so you can record the VR Flatscreen in full without a round VR mask for posts like this and other needs.(In VR Videos). I Book Marked This in my VR tab you should too. (along with this Post by "nikoel" Thanks to @plazma for making this. -
I add the Ship (Oliver Hazard Perry Class) and in its ME setting as I add it to the Map I give it a UHF Radio Freq number and then I use the Radio Menu to call it and ask for Navigation Assistance and they call me back with a Heading to turn to so I can fly to them.

This is my 1st "NOT FINISHED" Huey Instrument Panel (plus other interior items) skin I'm working on for myself.

UH-1H Huey have just got a new upgrade to my computer with a AMD Radeon XT I never noticed this before, BUT I could of just never bothered to look hard at this. If I turn my Nav. lights on and put the Switch to Dim the Lights are Bright and If I put the Switch to Bright the lights are Dim. Has this always been like this? Also not sure if it matters I am in VR. Also I am finding the crazy shake at startup and Shut down is like Normal now, Has that been Fixed?

Thank You Sir. I hear what your saying I have no need to find out for myself because I was thinking if I ask I will find a Kind person that would answer my question so I would not have to find out the hard way or for myself. DCS Forum is a wonderful resource for us Bothersome New people asking stupid questions. May I offer you my Apology if I have asked a Ignorant Question. Thank You Sir.

I took a Ship added 3 Moving Zones to the Ship Named Far, Medium, Close Then made 3 sound files of a Ships horn Blowing 2 times 1 sound for Far, low volume e.g. say at 33% , Medium e.p. 66% volume then Close at 100% You get the point then if I fly into the zones it plays the horn sound for that zone every 60 sec till I enter into the next zone then that sound plays till I enter the 3rd zone and that sound plays and if I leave Close to Medium the opposite happens in reverse. The horn sound files play nonstop till I leave that zone or I leave All Zones. then it shuts off. Enter a zone it starts up. So I am wondering what other use this could have cause it could trigger anything not just a sound file and you could set the time for anything you want i just use 60 sec. So the Zones are Large to give you time to fly through all 3 zones and the effect of horns blowing in the fog is a awesome mission effect. At Sea in a Coast Guard Huey so I set up 2 ships with 2 different horn sounds each ship with 3 zones each. Made in Standard Mission Editor Script. I was thinking of doing a how to video on how to set this up. It uses 4 lines for each zone used.

If I download custom Skins from the DCS World User Downloads. Put them in my Files then use the skins in a Mission I make and put that mission out for free download for all users on DCS will the Custom Skins be in that Mission or will default skins be added if the downloader does not have the custom skin or skins installed on there Computer? I just don't know the answer so thank You if you do and are kind to reply to my need to know.

I turn the Trim Switch off when I fly: Question Does Anyone Else Do This? I never Set a Trim up When I fly. I just Don't Need it. So Why should I use it or Tell me Why you feel I am doing it Wrong. I feel like it is not needed. I understand What He is asking When I try to land on a Oil Rig I get the same Effects I'm High in the air No Ground under me so the Need for Hard Right Peddle is needed. I like to keep myself in the Transition when My Dash is Shaking I keep it there and ride it in as long as I can and My Collective is Always on the move up and down Small Micro Movements till I get a Smoother transition into a very slow forward hoover I control up down or forward to landing. I fly by the Seat of the Pants. Self Taught I admire you that dig in and teach yourself all the Physics and Knowledge end of it Deep Respect to you but I need to get hands on and figure it out till I feel I an Dam Good at it. Force Trim System Force centering devices are incorporated in the cyclic controls and directional pedal controls. These devices are installed between the cyclic stick and the hydraulic servo cylinders, and between the anti-torque pedals and the hydraulic servo cylinder. The devices furnish a force gradient or "feel" to the cyclic control stick and anti-torque pedals. A FORCE TRIM ON/OFF switch is installed on the miscellaneous control panel to turn the system on or off. These forces can be reduced to zero by pressing and holding the force trim push-button switch on the cyclic stick or moving the force trim switch to OFF.
