could potentially solve alot of issues some have with DCS and OS usage in general.
Are you unticking vsync in DCS options? make sure that is disabled.
If you have that switched on it will override the nvidia FPS limiter, the best way to go about all of this would be to use Fast Sync in NVCP then set the FPS slider to you desired amount.
The tree shadows (including buildings etc) on the 'default' DCS setting revert back to a flat shadow at a set lod distance, the transition is quite ugly being as it's so close to the camera.
Yes that's how it's supposed to work, if there were highly detailed trees all the way to the horizon the FPS would drop significantly, it's only the close to middle range details that need to look good.
If you have Texture Filtering Quality set to Performance in nvidia control panel this will cause trees to look very poor, also having a low visibility setting in DCS will do the same.
