IMO, this is the biggest problem with communication. A developer gets on here and posts something like * New Clouds in progress” but that’s not good enough. They want more. “Hey is that the complete weather programming or just the clouds?” Next after a few hundred posts about peoples problems with the weather as a whole, Inevitably some Dcs “expert will provide a 2000 word missive on the missing real time weather that would be so easy to implement “. 10 pages later someone will say “hey, the developer posted somewhere the whole weather engine is being redone, just can’t find it “. Ultimately that will morph into disappointment when the patch is released and the fix was actually rendering the same cloud in both eyes or something similar. Finally comes the expressed disappointment that they didn’t deliver the promised “actual rain and lightning in my bedroom” features as promised. Hey Ed, how bout you just add a simple switch on the setup page so those who don’t really want rain and lightning their bedrooms can just turn it off?? It would be soooo simple and really add to the immersion... Honestly, how can anyone track the actual communications around here with all the reams of trash people pile on the actual information?? This place really is study of a mix between human psychology and the game of telephone. My guess is they are working on new clouds.

Ask for information, complain about no information, receive information, complain about the quality of the information, rinse and repeat...

Just pure speculation on my part. Nothing hard to go on. I just know that even with my system, I get pretty bad frames in VR. I can only imagine another module running simultaneously making it worse. Seems most agree that although results vary, the underlying code is very inefficient and have been calling for a rewrite. So m hope is that the SC broke the camels back and they HAVE to re do underlying code. Probably wrong but Would be nice!

That reminds me. I guess props are in order that there hasn’t yet been a massive 100 page Thread on “how unfair it is that I can’t get into closed beta”. There is hope after all!! Seriously (just injecting a bit of introspective humor to this endless thread) I am excited it is coming, patient about arrival and hesitant about frame-rate hit. As I said earlier, MY hope is that they have the carrier about dialed in but the unknown is because they have to solve the underlying frame rate problem before they feel comfortable releasing. Maybe they backed themselves into a corner and are now forced to fix underlying problems with code The delays could be a good thing for the whole sandbox!

The reason why they don’t give more progress updates is YOU! (Us??) Every time they say something, one small group thanks them then the next wants more and more. Another contingent seems the need to exponentially exaggerate every word of whats said to the point of absurdity. Another group carries on about being ripped off.... At least the way it is currently all they have to say is “standby “. There are many unknowns as yet but there are several certainties: 1. The super carrier will come 2. It will come when they think its ready 3. When it comes some people will bitch that it came too early and is filled with bugs 4. When it comes some will bitch that it came too late and has an incorrect eye hook measurement thingy 5. Some will complain they can’t put on shorts and jog around the deck before flight to help immersion.... 6. Some will complain about frame rates 7. Some will brag about frame rates 8. The 4k vs VR war continues 8. The index,occulus,Vive war continues I seriously could do this all day but you get the picture. They can’t win with y’all so why try??

I have had a few hitch hikers. Not sure how to keep Em out but really was kind of cool anyway.

Oh, I forgot to mention everyone migrated over there and all the servers as well. If your not in the closed beta well.... We’re having a blast with the super carrier. Works incredible.

The problem is people keep talking out of their ass and answering questions meant for the developers!

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m with you on this. Just trying to look at it from their perspective. Seriously, there are still people out there that are going to be disappointed when sc comes out and they can’t wander around the inside of the bridge and steer the ship. You will find a statement somewhere(not going to look) that somebody said after reading into an update post.

From above: The manner in which information is conveyed is my number one criticism with ED, beyond anything else. Communication is scattered, comes from multiple sources and is posted in multiple places with an absolute and utter lack of consistency. Furthermore, most informative posts aimed at providing an update raise more questions than they actually answer. While in agreement with most of whats said , I will have to disagree with these two points. First. They do have a common place to respond. The problem is 95% of the other posts on the forum degrade into a complaint fest full of “respond to me or I quit” ultimatums that can hurt their business if not addressed. Second, when they respond, there is a contingent of people that continue to read into things, spread false conclusions about what was or wasnt meant and generally insisist on arguing what the definition of “is” is. It’s really is no win for them. Just my opinion

So here is a thought. Maybe with all the problems amongst a lot of the players with low FPS, crashes ect that they felt adding the super carrier module to the mix was going to kill enough fps for enough players that They said forget it? Maybe the super carrier works fine but they decided they had to fix the underlying program code to make it usable? Perhaps finally they are addressing the big problem of inefficient code to the main program? Just a thought.

I fully concede that it could be operator error. Still, I still find myself anxious to get my hands on a 30xx nvida card and maybe catch a break from some DCS coding upgrades. In all honesty. 2.55 ran flawlessly and at pretty high settings. Imho the limitation was resolution of the index. In 2.56 in MP its the Double vision of MSA and stuttering around other aircraft. While playable, just no fun. Some day!!

Im looking forward to all the bitches and whining about how they rushed it to EA with lots of incomplete features and bugs. That said, Im eager to see if it totally kills my fps :)

Although I feel your pain bro, your a tad aggressive. Just remember, Unless your a thousand post regular or making a self important complaint about the orientation of the lug nut of the f16 your going to get nothing but flames and the “fan boys” screaming “TRUTH”. Wtf is that btw??? Its broken, they are trying to fix it. Frustrating yes but dude, you’re not a “regular “ so “they” don’t want your opinion. Regards!

Fwiw, and being a glasses wearer my FOV in the index is no worse that when I have glasses on my face. Same with sweet spot. I rarely if ever feel like I need to move my head more than normal to see what I need to see clearly. Adding the prescription lenses and removing my glasses gives me the feel of better than normal FOV outside the cockpit. That said, I do find myself having to turn farther left or right than normal to see my six or some of the far back switches on lower side panels of the F14. Fun thing about vr is you can lean out the “window “ and look back around your tail. Try that in the real fighter!!
