I just unboxed my set. Impressed with the quality of the build. I’m still contemplating how I want to build my pit, still sitting on the floor “crotching” my stick. I am wondering if I will need to add a wedge to bring the plane of the foot pedals up out of the horizontal. They seem a bit flat unless flying from a desk position. Any thoughts or experiences with this? Thanks

Fyi my base stations are silent. Not a peep. Also I run max on just about all in game pertinent settings but water and civilian traffic and get 45-75 fps all day long in multi player at 90mhz and 70-90’ish single player. The key for me was that there are about 10 different versions of motion smoothing/ super sampling between nvidia/steam and DCS called All kinds of shit. You have to shut them all off but 1 ( seems to be a bit system specific as to which works best) and crank the one you pick until performance starts to drop. My pd isn1.9 and cockpit is crystal clear and about 85% of the time I actually get only 1 jet, not a smear of a jet pass my canopy! In my opinion the only thing in 2.5 holding image quality back after above is the actual resolution of the headset which will never be 2k. Have not tried the new beta version yet and probably won’t for a while. Good luck!

I know I’m new, but it seems pretty simple. If you accept open beta, you agree to be part of the testing team/ process and as you find issues, by all means post in the bugs section. By the same token, you forfeit your right to bitch. It’s like continuing to hit your head with a hammer deliberately then complaining that it hurts. It certainly would be nice to have more stable servers with actual participation for us noobs. Great sim, keep up the excellent work!

Question. Obviously nvidia and index settings stay the same, but if I have both stable and OB installs separately, will changing settings in the DCS settings area only effect the version I am in? I am considering the upgrade to the newest beta but I have stable pretty well dialed in and don’t want to screw it up. Thanks!

I flew 4 hrs in stable version last night. Don’t need no damn cows. Relax and try it, beta is for test pilots and those with the patience to understand a work in progress. Either accept it or come back to the stable. Cheers! I should add that I do have beta in my drive but am waiting to update until it seems like less folks smarter than me have problems.

No, the issues are users that have to be “the cool dude flying beta...”. Then bitching because its a beta.

They will get right on that as soon as they take care of a few higher priority items such as making the new update work....

They didn’t! Its a beta which means you agree to test it for any said bugs. They will get it ironed out.

Just set up beta yesterday after using stable for the past several months. When I try to go to multi player (already logged in) it asks me for an “alternate name” of less than 25 characters? Never seen this before. I assumed it may just be an option in case you had an alter ego so just arrowed through it. When I logged onto a server, I would show as “unknown” Is this a glitch or do I now have to type “Mr. Big “Biggs” every time I join a server. Thanks

I have no issues with the F15 vs my F14 in PVP. Unless I do something stupid or the other pilot is just plain better. Which happens quite a bit. Regards

No worries, all good. It just happens that I got sucked into this totally on accident when I came across the Reapers. Watched them for years before I decided to give it a whirl. Spend more time worrying about stepping on some zealots toes than I do trying to correct misinformation from Cap. And the boys! Enjoy your new hobby at whatever level. I have fun PvP in the tomcat in the Just Dogfight server. The F14 is quite potent in the A to A role and close in, jester is really only helpful with call outs, which IMO are a huge advantage. Prevents people sneaking up on your backside!
