Difficulty in carrier landing vs su33?
WildBillKelsoe replied to StandingCow's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
it was a joke. I read somewhere in that carrier landings are pretty much like a divorce settlement. You either give it all or you dont. -
HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA:megalol:

Difficulty in carrier landing vs su33?

It went well till the bridge blew, I found them hiding before it behind a building and my gunner took them out. circled around as far as the road goes towards the camp but did not find others. Then got the 20 minute notice so I landed at the convoy and unleashed a tantrum of 7.62mm wrath..:noexpression:

and as an addon, can I bring it up for example as a pop up screen in the huey despite not being in the cockpit installed? like FSX GPS screen? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

only if its optional to stick craft and helos without navigation and most certainly the huey I would buy it.

Setting up for landing on carrier or ILS
WildBillKelsoe replied to erjdriver's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
follow the ILS track keeping -3 to -4 sink rate and the donut green and always look at the altitude reference and be 5-10 meters above the countdown numbers as you are getting closer. keep the two balls inside eachother on hud and at the cross for catching the third wire. also use autothrottle when on speed donut and practice practice and practice some more. Fly the pattern many times and remember, practice. when you touchdown, slap the throttles until you are sure you have come to a complete stop or risk entering soup. -
put a waypoint on the city then add to waypoint triggered actions by scrolling down past waypoint altitude and airspeed attack map object then look in the map you will find a red triangle. drag it to each area you want to each bomber so the whole city is covered. Modify quantity and type of weapon and other parameters to your liking. Save the mission and they should bomb the parts selected from the city as required. report if this helped.

if the mirrors are blank you must check options misc special or gameplay or other tabs I think there is a checkbox for mirrors in all modules to reduce rendering tax of mirrors.

as above. In march (МРШ) nav mode, only ADI has course deviation and altitude deviation not bezel ticks (on rims top (|) and (-) but yellow bars. Shouldnt these be replicated to get a white cross when following a desired course and altitude on HSI? Like in ILS (ПОС) position or is it exclusively to ILS?

controls very sensitive, curves? TMWH MFG?
WildBillKelsoe replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
yes but in cruise its painful to hold it with actual rudder opposing a trim.. -
well I see frequencies for ASW and the like in mission briefing. Is it active in each mission provided I finish the primary for extra score or flying time? Never tried for example to land on Argo after a mission and then refuel and takeoff again for example to ASW area where possibly one can hover and deploy a sonobuoy (DW fan here). Also, the Argo frequency is overlapped by other FFGs so I tried them all to get hover check or rearming and takeoff clearance but to no avail. Its a great campaign I am at 13 now and wish it was longer.

WildBillKelsoe replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
well I can say that rudder trimmer is very fast in the sense that fine trimming of rudder is too fast. -
the way I understand EW is that its purpose is to deny the radar accurate ranging information. The missile will still track you because the radar has locked on to you, because you were flying very contrasted to the background, or you were a blip getting bigger and reflecting more rays relative to the flashlight (radar). When a missile is not budging, your EW suite is useless. Because the radar has burned through your bluff. Because you were close. If you read the hunter killers (Dan Hampton), you would know they had dedicated panels to discern signals and their level of an emitter. The launching platform would usually loft the missile to gain maximum range while also making themselves more vulnerable in pulling up. WRT your question, I dont think ther is any difference. Caveat: I am not a pilot, nor ever been involved with the military service. Its my personal opinion. I could be wrong.

I'd like a full fledged bomber. With all the trimmings.
-
great tip, only drawback we cant feel if were in the trim position or approximate or we are going backwards at the stop. your apache man can feel it because hes inside it.
-
when youre above 80 knots, do you lower collective first, then reset trim to bubble up and then work the trim to hover or do you gradually trim aft and left slowly while also lowering collective and applying course rudder? what is the right way to do it if youre landing in a tight spot, FFG, mountainous terrain, regular airport? is it considered cheating to mark the approximate hover control position on the monitor with a marker?

does bombers have advances damage modeling?
WildBillKelsoe replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
phil and zach, thanks. I'll wait then -
guys if you updated to the lastest beta yes cargo is working, I am at mission 10 already and they are working. check my channel. yes there is a double hook on sling it should be reported in the uh-1 forum under bugs and problems. if you cant hook it, land very close, activate auto unhook, then activate cargo hook. it should work
-
thanks, but its not me who invented it

this one does not have stability augmentation system. A trim and a shitload of fine cyclic movements and a truckload of practice along with a well lubed stick in case of tmwh is your way to go. Might always help to trim cyclic forward just a nudge and hold back with a little pressure on cyclic stick. Its dynamicity is what makes it stand out from the ka-50

Spitfire Fuel Consumption/ Range test
WildBillKelsoe replied to philstyle's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
a simple flight from Beslan to Batumi heading between 230° and 270° resulted in my crashing right at the very edge of runway in Batumi while entering pattern on fumes, the fuel gauge was zero. The fuel tank was 100% loaded and cruise altitude was below 15,000 feet. Is it short ranged?
