  1. practice practice practice...
  2. Precisely why I opened this thread. I did finish it but my wingman got killed.
  3. on a fourth run, the trouble is, they did appear in TWS after getting really close, I'd say within the published and agreed upon 45 nm, but not the venerable LRS. Also, they were at lower level, with separation of at least 10,000 ft in between us. I did pick them up but after a long fight with MPRF/HPRF, LRS/TWS modes and I do seem to remember that it was easier to spot things. Question though, the F-15 radar can only be moved up and down not like Flanker radar right and left? because there is scan zone up down right left commands but I dont think it really changes azimuth. I also noticed that predicted target range (+\-) command maybe this could be the answer? I notice that on moving this the azimuth bars get narrow, but does that mean the scan zone also gets narrow? Because afaiu, narrow FOV and high PRF gives the best chances of spotting a closing fly dead ahead than a receding one fading into background and the notch.. Another question, the NDTWS or break lock command has two entries in controls, which of those can be used to satisfactorily undesignate a PDT from a picture without causing contacts to disappear, if I were to shift PDT to SDT?
  4. CAVEAT: I am not a pilot, A-10 pilot or otherwise. This is my opinion. I could be 100% wrong. Sorry about that. You spolied the book for me as I am also reading it these days. :megalol: . I also highly recommend A-10s over Kosovo book which really puts you in the cockpit. As to the tactics I am certain that at some point in the book were reading, a medium altitude floor of 10,000-15,000 feet or thereabouts was set by the brass to avoid SAMs and reduce AAA chance of hitting, for bombing targets, especially for desert environment and because Saddam had too much SAMs. The A-10 folks like to make their own charts iirc because they have better SA and also fly 150 feet roughly 50 meters above deck, thats a three-story building high, doing navigation with sights and fixes on their maps and marking pop-up points. You do know the A-10A is in FC3 and I popped a thread about why I chose to fly it rather than the C (for its then SFM now turned AFM), and the idea of looking outside the cockpit is much greater in emphasis and this really gets you looking out and not into instruments. In Caucasus, because were afforded mountainous terrains, especially in Georgia proper, the old doctrine of pop up can be used. I guess its safe to assume that its not the only doctrine where if youre for instance in the Gulf region, you'd have to stay high because the sand is rough on your engines and there is practically no elevations. I guess it depends on the mission and conditions. One thing that puzzles me, is that if the A did not have PAC how did the pilots focus rounds on targets. Time to read some more.
  5. I think keep current missile smoke but make launcher smoke more pronounced and lingering to spot the buggers..
  6. I see. Now I know about the mws which is great in A-10C. That classified information could get you killed or expunged dishonorably from the military! RUUNNNN!
  7. Like A-10C can detect SA-18 igla?
  8. Its weird. Latest update, I set it to both chaff and flare, and flick the switch by canopy handle to INT/KONT (which positions?) and OFF yet as I press HOTAS countermeasure fast release nothing happens. Can you walk me step by step or maybe I wasnt packing chaff or flares? Also, can it detect IR MANPADS or just radar guided missiles? State of sim?
  9. So I get pinged by two Mig-29s dead ahead, AWACS reports on heading, 60 miles, 20000 yet I clock radar to altitude band 17-30 via scan zone up and down, nothing. No blips or anything. I even try MPRF HPRF swapping no dice. Is it a radar problem? maybe my radar got fried but radar screen working?
  10. ok, I have just a mini mod which is view.lua changed for fov bf109 and ralfidudes rwr mod for g breath in and out. I'll do as suggested and report back.
  11. :D Logs attached. Thanks. Logs.zip
  12. Will do BIGNEWY and sorry for being mad.
  13. when I press missions from main menu I am stuck on splash screen loading. the training and campaigns work fine. the today update and the one before it also this week before this missions worked fine and I could select individual missions, now cant even access the GUI for missions (stuck on loading screen after pressing missions from main menu)
  14. if you go to ebay look for project enclosures and buy one that fits you can measure the required pot and knob and layout on a4 paper or tissue box to determine feasibility then ask for leo bodnar bu086x assortment of awg24 color coded and 10 k linear pots with D-shaft knurled shaft (china) then ask one of your electrician buddies to solder the terminals and hook up to bodnar, then affix via silicon to base of enclosure, hook via USB and youre set. 15. if only this can work with 109...
  16. If I'm buying this, I need it also for the 109, the spit, 86, mig15, huey, and all VFR based non modern crafts. I hope some sort of compatibility is planned for older and newer modules.
  17. the mic switch goes inside too, not four ways, like the countermeasure ECM on stick. you should get MFG Crosswinds instead of gustmaster.. I have CH and now MFG, now I can put my fingers down that MFG is the best rudder pedal out there, besides slaw, vkb. Always encourage these guys because theyre individuals that make wonders and not some company eager for profits. Priced reasonable too.
  18. this guy made the flanker his bitch! what a great finish too!
  19. are you sure your MWS is on? maybe you overlooked that?
  20. Botophuket and use imgur or postimage.
  21. you can check hegykc thread for WH compatible prototypes, which includes a hornet stick iirc
  22. that is one big f-ing rocket!
  23. So I've ditched my first WW2 P-51D in DCS, my newly acquired Spitfire, in favour of settling with this beautifully engineered beast powered by Daimler-Benz 605 yet the AI adversaries in campaign missions tend to be ridiculously easy to kill via snapshots and all sorts of funny surfaces come flying off, however, there must be a drill one can practice when it comes to perfecting this type of shooting. I can swear the AI does one of three things 1- turn fight in horizontal, 2- climb to stall hoping I'd usually skim past into their gunsight, 3- Rolling scissor fight where you criss-cross into a roll coupled with pulls on stick and usually this is the best way to practice snaps. I was hoping ED would change the adversaries to the allied planes and not German aircrafts as the parent module to signify variety and the real opposition. Some inclusion of a mission to positively ID and engage select, timed, and sequenced bandits with different plane types or colors (like shoot this red Mustang, this blue Focke wulf, this green Spitfire) to help and familiarise players with both target identification and correct engagement. Also, the Bf-109 campaign could use some choppers to kill like the P-51D vanilla campaign (iirc there were two missions dedicated to killing choppers), bad weather navigation with charts, climb angle (with cockpit triggers for speed and variometer versus a.t.a. and RPM, system failures missions (like the Ka-50 returning home mission, with proper checklists).
  24. the altitude youre supposed to fly in is denoted on ADI in the form of horizontal yellow line (altitude caret) like the A-10C uncaged ADI glideslope. There is however one very important shortcoming with the F-15C; you cant change the altimeter setting like the Su-27. This means that youre flying MSL most of the time or AGL but not flexibly both.
  25. Detective McLane, might have to try these. Thanks
