can someone explain the "finger" checks thingy? why is it called like that as opposed to "checks"? I've been meaning to ask about it since FSX version only to forget and here I am in DCS, the same thing...

Its funny you would say tgis because I just finished wavehoppers campaign intro flying at 16,000 ft above a soup and my engine icing warning came to life. Shortly after starting anti icing by pedestal near fuel pump, my speedometer froze to 160 knots and upon descending in a nose down attitude, it turned all the way back to zero knots while I was flying forward in a dive towards base leg, and from thereafter, remained at zero knots. I used my surroundings till I came to hover then set her down nice and gentle. The idea is that it could be electrical system freezing or battery problem.

well in case you navigation sustem fails, you always know your cardinal bearings from that magnetic compass. Even A320s and 737s have magnetic compasses with all their fancy navigation, ADIRS, etc... My educated guess would be there was not enough space in the cockpit for it. OR It can become very unreliable with oscillations, or even requires powering up from electrical.

I think you are right, and I think its because of the inherent torque effect in the design itself. So left combat turns should be easier in a one Oh nine compared to right combat turns in Mustang.

I am happy ED are taking the trainer craft approach. I just wish there would be a civil version for it. I assume it might feature GNS430? Anyways, I'd love to get in one as prop crafts are the best trainers and this should have preceded L-39C, etc... at least my opinion. As to armament, sometimes you get bored from the fighting, so I would like to take her out for multiple hops across Georgia. It could be fun too in Nevada even though I dont own it. Scenic flying is always nice in helicopters and turboprops. That way I can get to know an area well. I hope at some point in the future, there would be a Beechcraft Baron or a C172SP. This would cater some of FSX guys and the flight model the flight model the flight model... mmmmmmm!! I also hope civilian crafts can start a niche in DCS.

Yes I have heat blur on. Yes it does struggle, mainly now Mig-15 trying to slave magnetic compass causes lag in pressing and releasing the slaving button. I'm just waiting on the Ti to die on me so I invest in 1080 Ti (if there is one). However my monitor is 16:10, 1366*768 native resolution. If I take the 1080, definitely I'd get also TH2Go and split on three widescreen monitors. Javelina, I will get the SSD for DCS only as all my other games including Arma 3, RoFICe, ETS2, SH3, SBPro (albeit also some stutter on that last one in loaded scenarios) function more or less adequately.
