Beyond Modifing/Editing. Drawing the line.
169th_Cobra replied to Quirkitized's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
awesome .. thanks Shepski. any reason why ED didnt incorporate these changes into 1.1 instead of you having to make a mod? perhaps for 1.2?? PS not sure what everyone is arguing over. Each to their own i say. If you want to use lope then go ahead and do it in a server that allows it. If thats not your thing, find a server that doesn't allow illegal weapons and enjoy your "realism". Simple really. -
Your aircraft on "Light Way"
169th_Cobra replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
i pulled my hair out over this as well. the triangle is supposed to represent you (your aircraft) so as the radar emitter comes closer to you (increaces in strength) the lights illuminate up around the "light way" till they reach your aircraft. have a look on page 20/262 of the 1.1 readme. it seems to explain it best. -
wOOOt !!!! free pron!!!

Thanks for the update bgp but we've been hearing soon since Jan lol. Chirstmas is coming soon too. All shit stirring aside, i'm grateful for ED to take the time to listen to what we want, this is a very rare trait to see in businesses these days. They definately have my support.

Avalon 2005 - Any Russian jets?
169th_Cobra replied to Mimes's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There was a big artical in one of the newspapers over the weekend on the US contingent that was going to the show this year. Apparently it will be the biggest turn out by the americans barring exercises since WWII! The list of aircraft was remarkable, from the usual F16's, F18's (both normal and super), F15's, F117, B1, B2 and on and on. This could be one of the best years to go. Unfortunately, work permits me from making. If you can make it i'd definately go! -
thanks Mitch ... your skins are nothing short of amazing. :D

OK - MY thoughts on the v1.1 Copy Protection
169th_Cobra replied to britgliderpilot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
i hear what your saying BGP and agree with most of it. I think the problem is that the western market is made up of mostly very loyal users and quite a few fanactics of the genre. All they seem to have done is piss this bunch of people off who would have been buying the addon regardless. On the addon note ... it is just that. An addon. You will need a copy of the original game to play Flaming Cliffs. I dont see any copies of Lock-on on the shelves here in Australia. So who are they aiming this copy protection at? It has been brought up in other threads as to why IL2 is more popular than Lock-on and one of the main points is its complexity. How many new users do they think they are going to attract with this addon? I was definately going to buy this addon but now im not so sure. Its not only about the security issue, its about the fact that i get limited upgrades before i have to jump on the net and get a new key. Although it could be fairly straight forwardin practice, how many of us have had experience with similar products only to have major problems with them. As someone else mentioned i will want to load this up years down the track and not have any outside forces prevent me. I sincerely hope ED reconsider this option as they may just lose a very loyal customer. (i say MAY as im not about to make idol threats based on hearsay.) -
Once again your input is invaluable Alfa. Thank you for clearing that up. My question is then, why are they putting things in the manual that aren't in the game? Such as saying the Mig29S can attack two targets simultaneously when it isn't modeled in-game. It is irrelevant what can happen in real life as the manual is there to tell us what we can do in the game.

v1.2 Market Research Poll - Ka-50 or no?
169th_Cobra replied to SwingKid's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
as much as i would love to have a flyable chopper in lomac i am a perfectionist and feel they should get the parts they have started finished off properly before making more problems. (ie AFM for all flyables.) i love this game but there are some glaring ommisions that really need to be addressed. the two areas i feel this most about are: dedicated server and netcode. navigation, both ground stations and airborne hardware. -
for a poor bastard u set your sights high! i'm doing alright and i had to settle for a second hand TIR2. :( its getting harder to get these sorts of purchasers past the financial controller these days lol

this has to be one of my favourite movies to date! awesome flying that gets you pumped to go and play the game and rip it up. love the knife-edge formation lol. :D

Help extracting TGA files using loman...
169th_Cobra posted a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
could someone please help me try to extract a TGA file from Lock-on using Loman 2.1 ( i am trying to get the F18 skin to try my hand at skinning) the problem isnt so much the extraction phase but more when i put it into photoshop it comes out very light with the transparent grid all over it and i cant get it into a usable state. of course if anyone has an F18 template they would be willing to share it would save me a great deal of time! thanks in advance. -
thats not such a silly question Bettlejuice i've got a few mates i'd like to get into Lock-On and was wondering if i have to tell them to go out and grab a copy of lomac first or can they just purchase Flaming Cliffs over the web? the obvious problem if they are required to purchase it, is that lomac is extremely thin on the shelves here in Australia. :( (either way i'm good to go!)
