  1. As far as I'm aware, the radar is physically moving when slewing in azimuth, thus it would make no sense for the radar head to teleport to center when editing SCAN RAID, plus would make no sense from a design standpoint either. I'm almost certain this is a bug.
  2. Selecting SCAN RAID while in TWS MAN or TWS BIAS should automatically select TWS AUTO. I'm don't remember what is currently modeled in DCS right now (still not done my shift at work yet )
  3. It can be done in the real FA18C, hopefully when ED updates the MSI integration we will be able to designate surface tracks.
  4. That's the bug I mentioned
  5. Old post.. I believe this is already fixed
  6. Doesn't RWS TDC Depress do some kind of weird raster scan right now? Or did they fix that? Also, OP if you really want to have the TDC follow your cursor you can use SPOT mode (hold TDC Depress for >1 second on RWS mode)
  7. Hey, I am not home for awhile so I can't test but I submitted a bug report where if you exit TWS SCAN RAID back to TWS AUTO the scan volume will be centered and not on the L&S, however you will still have an L&S and the scan volume will move back onto it. Of course this is incorrect and could cause you to lose track, but that said, I believe this would mean your elevation should be correct when editing TWS SCAN RAID, just not your centering (until it moves)
  8. Relevant to the topic: As far as I've been told, the TDC should also be "sticky" and latch onto a track. For example if you place the cursor over a track and let go, if you turn, or the track moves, the cursor will follow it. I'm not sure what software version this is from, but it's for the F/A-18C
  9. Hi, I have modified the autostop cheat to configure my jet when I spawn in air. I re-recorded the track without using that, and also made it a much shorter track. Note that when leaving TWS SCAN RAID back to TWS AUTO, the scan volume is centered, it will then immediately slew back to the L&S, but it shouldn't have been centered in the first place and should already be on top of the L&S. I also demonstrate changing the aging and how that will cause you to lose radar SA to the track because of this bug. ExitingSCANRAIDtoTWSAUTOCentersScanVolume.trk
  10. Exiting SCAN RAID back to TWS centers your scan volume even when you already had your radar slewed (EG: You are cranking) in TWS AUTO w/ an L&S. This can cause you to lose radar SA, and this definitely should not happen, because the radar itself wouldn't teleport back to center when exiting SCAN RAID as it was already looking at your L&S SCANRAIDMovesRadarToCenter.trk
  11. Supposedly, HPRF (Husky) is coming, that said I don't think that will fix any of the issues mentioned in the thread, it will essentially just be a lower quality, longer range active state. Notching/Look-Down/Chaff Resistance/Lack of Proxy Fuse/etc. will still be an issue. If they improve those things though, I think the AIM-120 will be in a good place. Narrow the gap where you can be in the notch. I imagine it should be quite small, you need to be in a perfect 90 degrees position, the real F18 pilot I know has mentioned how in debriefs if someone executed a notch defense they will check your angle from the bandit because you need to be very very close to 90 degrees to have any effect. Chaff should not be a primary defense at all and its effectiveness should be reduced, it's a supplement for when you bust your timeline/the MAR to help you a bit, but should not be your #1 option ever. Lately, I've seen 120's missing their target by very small amounts (100 feet) quite often, proxy fuse should be improved. It seems to me like it's not even working at all. Fingers crossed!!! I really hope there isn't a behind-the-scenes plan to unrealistically force WVR fights for "fun", people come to DCS for the simulation, if they wanted forced WVR they'd go to other games.
  12. I was wondering why it didn't work for me! Nice report! I've pretty much given up on STT lately, but hopefully some patches/fixes coming soon
  13. Since last patch, FA18 seems extremely vulnerable to having its wings sheered off when Paddle Switch is pulled. Sadly, I do not have any performance data on how much the jet can truly survive until its wings are torn off, but I would imagine the FA18 Engineers would not design a function that will nearly immediately and reliably rip off your wings. I'm sure a lot of it comes down to metal fatigue and wouldn't fail until overstressed many times (although higher G will rapidly increase the over stress) The Paddle Switch should be used to 1. Disengage autopilot or clear BLINS 2. Prevent hitting the ground 3. Increase miss distance of a missile still tracking that will hit you if you don’t pull it (combat only) 2 & 3 are both "stick in your lap" situations. I truly believe this function would not be designed (and I am sure it was tested) if it would result in an immediate dual wing failures. Quote from real FA18 pilot with thousands of flight hours: In my opinion, whatever the damage model is, I am assuming a health system, the wings would probably need more health before they sheer off, prolonged/excessive use would probably cause this condition but right now it's happening nearly immediately and reliably. RipYourWingsOffSWITCH.trk
  14. While I don't have figures to provide, the Hornet pilot I know has said the DCS FA18 is very much lacking AOA ability & G-Onset
  15. From a real Hornet pilot: That said, my own personal opinion is whether or not it is officially backed or not, if you're in a situation where not pulling the paddle would drastically increase your chance of dying, I'd pull it and get debriefed afterwards when I'm still alive. EG: You just merged head on with a Felon, you're flying a bit fast to have a good performance turn, are you going to follow the rules and die, or will you pull the paddle and try to get your 9X on him before you die?
  16. As title. Also, I forget if this was mentioned elsewhere already, but you should also be able to designate a L&S from an offboard track on either RDR ATTK/AZEL/SA page. WITH RADAR SA: WITHOUT RADAR SA:
  17. In my experience, 1LOOK doesn't require you to maneuver to triggered MEM, and since MEM doesn't work and causes you to just lock something at random, I just have stopped using 1LOOK entirely.
  18. Apart from what was already mentioned, in DCS they are fairly similar since radar cell resolution isn't modeled, so the radar doesn't *need* to break apart contacts since we never have the issue currently. RAID solves a problem that doesn't really exist in DCS right now.
  19. I frequently get TACAN freezing up, restarting TACAN seems to fix it, although it is still frustrating.
  20. Also provided evidence in PM. While in SCAN RAID, undesignate should function the same way it normally does in TWS/RWS like we have in DCS, and it should not be exiting SCAN RAID when depressed. Create L&S Designation if none exists. Swap between L&S & DT2 if they exist, or step L&S if no DT2 exists. Exit ACM (RTS) Exit AACQ Break Radar STT Exit acquisition Exit FLOOD Exit SPOTLIGHT
  21. Track Included, although it's just showing the typical behavior in DCS right now (TDC Depress on RDR ATTK RWS mode does some kind of "raster" scan attempting to lock.) TDC Depress on RDR ATTK/RWS should only center scan volume (Unless there is a TUC'd track) Evidence provided in PM. ScanCentering.trk
  22. @BIGNEWY Attached track. STT acquired, returned to search, memory lost and takes much time to reacquire target. It is in 6B/140 to show the error (standard sanitization preset anyways) but memory should not be lost when exiting STT, this makes STT PB10 useless. Track also shows at the end, the STT trackfile is being produced immediately, with a mach of 15000 or something, which may be causing other errors down the chain. STTbreaksRadarMemory.trk
  23. Entering STT and then pressing PB10 (TWS) which was fixed this patch (it broke the B-Sweep to enter TWS AUTO before the patch) still clears radar memory, making it a poor way to enter TWS AUTO. Radar Memory should not be cleared by exiting STT.
  24. AACQ is not an ACM mode, it is the recommended way to enter STT if you have Radar SA (TDC Depress is not a good way to do it, you should castle/SCS right) you can't even activate AACQ in ACM, you have BST/HACQ/LHACQ/WACQ/VACQ/GACQ in ACM. Regardless, this bug still occurs even if you TDC Depress on the brick/track.
  25. When exiting STT (Undesignate or RTS), Radar Memory is cleared requiring you to reacquire trackfiles. Radar should retain memory of trackfiles.
