EDIT: FLT-1 and P1 sold I'm downsizing my cockpit a bit and selling my CH Throttle Quadrant: http://www.chproducts.com/Throttle-Quadrant-v13-p-180.html The CHTQ averages about $125 online. I've kept it in perfect condiiton and it doesn't have any problems, so I think asking $85 for it is reasonable. Shipping will be free within CONUS but for overseas I'll have to ask you to cover the cost.

Fullscreen mode makes mouse cursor disappear?
GregP replied to GregP's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Problem solved! I'm kicking myself now, but it seems that I never did a simple Google search on the cause of losing a mouse in a full-screen game. Instead I have been focusing just on DCS. Well it turns out that using mouse pointer trails in Windows causes this problem, and as soon as I turned it off, my mouse now works just fine in full screen. -
Fullscreen mode makes mouse cursor disappear?
GregP replied to GregP's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Right, it appears that there's no difference in performance, so that wouldn't be reason enough to be concerned about getting full screen working. The reason I would prefer full screen is because I'm tired of Windows allowing other things to pop up over my DCS window when I'm in game. I also remain suspicious about why I'm not seeing any higher frame rate when I go full-screen, as I thought even up to now people generally see performance improvements. I have tried to shut down all other apps outside of Windows itself that could possibly take over focus from DCS, but that hasn't fixed the problem either. -
For some time now, I've had an issue where selecting 'Full Screen' in the DCS option menu makes the mouse cursor invisible when I next start up DCS and Full Screen kicks in. My only recourse is to alt-tab out after it starts up, then click on the DCS window (i.e entering borderless fullscreen mode or whatever Win10 calls it). If I then go into the cockpit and hit alt-enter to go true fullscreen again, once again the yellow plus sign disappears. The mouse is still working in the sense that I can see things being highlighted momentarily as I move the mouse around; but I cannot see the actual cursor. Alt-enter again restores the mouse cursor. I should also note that toggling between fullscreen and not-fullscreen seems to have zero effect on FPS, which goes against what seems to be the conventional wisdom with DCS that FPS usually jumps with alt-enter -- but I've read that maybe ED changed this a while back such that the FPS difference isn't as pronounced anymore. And it's not just a DCS thing; I get the exact same issue in Assetto Corsa, which I also run fullscreen. I feel like I've exhaustively researched the issue and have tried every suggestion I've come across both on this forum and the wider internet: - Move the taskbar from the top of the screen over to the right side - Disable Windows' 'full screen optimization' - Disable Windows' Game DVR - Try apps like 'Cursor Lock' to force the mouse cursor to not leave the screen And what feels like a hundred other things. Absolutely none of them have any effect whatsoever on the problem. No matter what I do, fullscreen results in the mouse disappearing. I run Windows 10 build 1803; a 4K 60Hz monitor; and a GeForce 1080Ti. Has anyone else had this problem?

Ah! Good to know it's Ch1. Eventually I just said screw the tower I'm starting up anyway!

SturmovikPilot, you actually can already do this by selecting the 'Scale UI' option, have you tried that?

[CANT REPRODUCE] HUD glasses thickness come and go
GregP replied to hflag's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yup, happens to me all the time too, presumed it was a known bug. -
This is something that I've been asking for for literally years now. I use 11 controllers in DCS and it's incredibly frustrating -- when every aircraft requires significant time spent setting up controls -- to have to scroll up, down, left and right constantly because the controls GUI seems to be hardcoded to a certain resolution and only fills up about a third of my 4K screen.

I started using a curved 55" Samsung model about two months ago and since I sit about three feet away from it, the curve actually does help keep the edges of the screen from appearing skewed. But if you're considering a smaller screen or you sit further away, I'm not sure the price premium would be worth it.

I use several of Derek Speare's button boxes and they couldn't be easier to use in DCS. In the picture below (not sure why it's rotated 180 degrees but I can't figure out how to fix it, sorry) you can see five of them; from left to right they're the ones with red buttons: TrackZilla, FLT-1, then three P2s. I then make my own overlays specific to each aircraft to keep the button assignments clear.

Guide - Enhancing head movement on TrackIR
GregP replied to Rudel_chw's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just set your TrackIR 'center' keypress to be the same key that is assigned to the 'zoom normal' function within DCS. -
In Shapeways before you upload the model, make sure that 'Units' is set to 'M' -- it defaults to mm, that's why the dimensions are off.

I've been using a 58-inch 4k TV in DCS for four years now. It seems that OLEDs are universally recognized as having better picture quality compared to LED/LCDs, but I've been wondering how that applies to DCS? Have any of you upgraded from a large LED/LCD to an OLED? Is it really that much of an improvement?

Yes, very easy sale and was nice to finally meet cichlidfan after many years of 'knowing' him on this forum. Hope you enjoy the T-50.

EDIT: SOLD I bought these new from VirPil in April 2017 (grip) and July 2018 (base) for a total of USD $382, but I've decided I no longer need them. They're in perfect condition with no problems at all, and I have the original packaging and receipts. I've used the grip maybe a total of 20 hours and the base less than 5 hours. The only modification I've done was swap out the default medium springs in the base for the lighter springs (VirPil includes lighter and heavier springs in addition to the default mediums). VirPil created a video showing how to do it here: According the the VirPil site, the base currently goes for 175 Euro (USD $209) and the grip goes for 130 Euro (USD $151), for a total of 305 Euro (USD $360) (and that's not even including VAT, of course). So I think asking USD $275, plus shipping costs, is a reasonable sale price. I'd prefer to ship within the US, but could also ship to UK/Europe. Apologies for the pictures being rotated, not sure how to fix that!

Just wanted to post back here that yes, it is indeed quite easy to upload to Shapeways the STL file(s) that OP posted. And now for $25 I've got a matte black plastic Harrier nozzle lever heading my way in about two weeks.

On the left, you mean? Yes, works fine with no issues. -
Track IR support for better positioning
GregP replied to krusty974's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
From trial and error what I have found is that I get the best results when the TIR is about level with my head, thus why I have mounted it on a separate pole that is roughly halfway down my screen. When I tried to place it on top of my TV, the relatively short distance between my head and the screen caused problems. If I tried to elevate the clip above my head, wouldn't its offset from the center of rotation cause problems? I've never tried it, but I thought that one of the reasons it is able to track is because it's assuming that the LEDs are moving fairly close to the center of rotation in all axes. -

I do, yeah, why? -
Track IR support for better positioning
GregP replied to krusty974's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've used a narrow plastic cable conduit, with the TrackIR mounted on top, that is in front of but basically in line with the edge of my 58" screen. Seems to be the best solution I've tried yet but definitely isn't perfect. Just a trade-off of using a big screen, I guess. -
Or even better, upload somewhere that 3D printing ignorant people like myself could just order one to be made and shipped, like Shapeways?

Unfortunately, for me, using the T-50 base's U-bracket to mount it to the WSP Warthog attachment plate (after drilling a hole as noted above) did not provide the stability I was looking for. So I went with a less elegant solution as shown here: two small C-clamps. Thought it might be helpful for anyone else who has the same issue.
