  1. I’ve been using the Asus ROG Strix XG438Q since February. In the past I’ve used 58”, 55” and 50” 4K monitors but for my cockpit setup, with the approximately 3 ft that I sit away from the monitor, I’m finding that 43” feels the most natural and comfortable. I went for this G-Sync-compatible monitor because even with my 2080 Ti, I wasn’t sure I’d always be able to maintain 60 FPS and thus didn’t want to rely on traditional V-Sync to get rid of tearing. Whether that feature alone is worth the extra price is likely highly dependent upon the buyer; for me it was. I will say, though, that it seems to lack the brightness / vibrancy that you’d get in say an OLED. Again for me this is currently a tolerable tradeoff though.
  2. Same problem on OB version, at least for the AA gun and SW training missions—there are no targets.
  3. EDIT: SOLD Bought new last year for $1300. This is a 49", ultra-widescreen 32:9 QLED monitor that runs at 5120x1440 resolution. Perfect condition with no problems, and I have the original box with all included accessories. Price is $950 which includes free shipping within the US. New ones go for $1200 minimum online. - 120 Hz refresh rate - 1800R curvature - DisplayHDR 1000 with a peak luminance of 1000 cd/m2 - AMD FreeSync II (and Nvidia G-Sync Compatible) - 2 x DisplayPort 1.4 - 1 x HDMI 2.0 - 2 x USB Type-A (USB 3.1 / USB 3.2 Gen 1) Output - 2 x USB Type-A (USB 2.0) - 1 x 3.5 mm Output
  4. I bought one back in 2016 and still use it, absolutely love it. I wanted to buy another one a few months ago so I wrote to the guy who makes these, but unfortunately at that time he said he didn’t have any plans to make any more. I would guess that’s probably still the case.
  5. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
  6. Dropped price, still available!
  7. EDIT: SOLD I bought these new in December but have now decided to go with a VKB setup instead. I have the original boxes and all included pieces, as shown. I even bought a compact base plate as the larger plate didn't fit my pit setup at the time. The VirPil store seems to be out of stock on both the base and the grip, but is priced there at 330 Euro + ~ 51 Euro to ship to the US = $412. I'm selling mine for $375 even, which includes shipping (US only please) and the compact base plate, so I think it's a pretty good deal for anyone itching to try out a VirPil setup.
  8. Looking for Warthog Stick Base. [Deleted]
  9. EDIT: SOLD The MFD pack no longer has the heavy metal bases -- I only have the MFDs themselves as shown in the picture. Online they go for $70+ new -- I'm selling for $40, which includes shipping. The X-Keys 58-key programmable keypad is made by P.I. Engineering and uses a program called MacroWorks to program the macros you want to assign to it. Makes an ideal UFC; I've been using it for DCS controls as shown in the picture. Goes for $120+ online -- I'm selling for $70, which includes shipping. I'll sell all three for $100 if anyone is interested. US only please.
  10. Have you looked at the changes needed to make DDI fonts thinner and then looked for similar lines in the various HUD lua files?
  11. I struggled with the same issue for quite a while. For now I've settled on using some cushions on my seat back (with a cover to keep them all in place) of my Playseat chair, to push me forward in the seat, and then the seat slides forward right up against the stick. My legs probably overhang the chair more than I'd ideally like, but at least I can comfortably reach everything. Having a cutout around the stick wouldn't quite work with my setup because I also use a Jetseat (the orange and black pad visible on the seat) and I definitely don't want to cut into that.
  12. I did fly a bit last night and loved it. I was confused, though, about why I kept getting those messages—I thought I exited the airspace and headed directly to Sukhumi to land. Is it possible the lead was flying the same course without me even realizing it? I pretty much just exited and RTBed without paying any more attention to what the lead was doing.
  13. Happy to hear you’re planning to run the jets more often because, although I own nearly all DCS aircraft, I’ve been really wanting to try your server with the F-18 but I keep missing the jets nights!
  14. For those who haven't otherwise come across it, AlaskanGrizzly's excellent KneeboardBuilder allows you to specify your kneeboard's size and position, provided you create a new kneeboard group for your aircraft of choice. The only downside to this method is that you'll miss out on custom kneeboards that mission makers package within their miz files; but of course you could simply extract them and add them to the kneeboard group you created above.
  15. I guess i should’ve mentioned that at 1440 and 4K, which I presume most DCS users are running, it’s likely GPU-limited. At 1080 though, I could see CPU being more relevant.
  16. For DCS though, what’s the point? On most reasonably modern systems DCS is heavily GPU-limited.
  17. Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney - P-51D Campaign info I'm having the same issue, and I just confirmed that I have wake turbulence turned off. I can maintain 40-60 at 4K; when I encounter the bombers in Mission 3, it drops a bit, but not terribly. But as soon as the bombers drop their bombs, my FPS plummets to 7-10. After that it never recovers. I should note I haven’t tried the ‘limit AI’ option yet and that I’m on 2.5.6.
  18. Results of GTX 1080 Ti to RTX 2080 Ti upgrade ...unless that 25-30% gets you up and over the 60 FPS mark, thereby allowing use of V-sync to smooth out performance—which was my goal from the beginning. In my opinion that’s what makes this particular upgrade ‘worth it’ for me.
  19. Hmm, TrackIR, yeah I hadn't thought of that. I haven't tried Adaptive Sync yet, no, but that's a good idea. When I say tearing, I meant primarily when I have low framerate (i.e. before I got the 2080 Ti) around 30, and then as I get close to 60, so I think it's the 'other kind' of tearing as opposed to that which occurs when framerate exceeds refresh rate. I've been capping FPS at 60 in Afterburner up to now too; I've seen forum discussions about the merits of using NVCP vs Afterburner but didn't think there was likely much difference in how well it gets implemented. But trying through NVCP is worth a try.
  20. Results of GTX 1080 Ti to RTX 2080 Ti upgrade The prices are indeed ludicrous, I completely agree, but unfortunately I think this is where the top-end cards are going to be from now on. I’m not sure if it was the cryptocurrency miners that pushed prices up this high when the 2080 TI first came out, or the intent was always to market them at this price, but it’s hard to imagine that the next generation is going to be any cheaper now that we’ve crossed the threshold. Because I’ve been running 4K for several years now, and also don’t have a VRR-capable monitor yet (although a few large-format models were shown at CES this year, making the prospect more likely as the year goes on), I rationalized that doing the GPU upgrade now was worth it if I could get near the mythical 4K 60 Hz level and thus be able to enable V-sync and get rid of the screen tearing that has been driving me crazy. I actually do have an LG 55 inch OLED that is G-Sync compatible (I just am not able to use it with my flight sim setup currently) and there’s no doubt in my mind that V-sync and/or VRR is where it’s at in terms of smooth 4K gaming on a 2D screen.
  21. Based on online reviews, 2080 Super cards are likely roughly halfway between the 1080Ti and 2080Ti. Those cards are $700-$800, compared to the 2080 TI at $1000-1400 (with my card being right in middle of $1200). So I would guess that for people running anything less than a 1080 Ti, maybe the 2080 Super would be a worthy upgrade and be more palatably priced.
  22. After nearly 2 1/2 years I finally decided I was ready to pay the absolutely absurd price of an RTX 2080 Ti in order to finally get some much-needed additional FPS in DCS. I ran a series of tests before and after the upgrade and thought it might be of interest for those with similar systems running at 4k considering an upgrade. I ran a variety of missions, mostly Instant Action, and basically just waited for the FPS to settle down within the first 30 seconds or so. Of course these results may not be an accurate estimate of what kind of FPS bump I'll be seeing when fully flying missions, but hopefully they're not far off. Here goes, with before (1080 Ti) and after (2080 Ti) FPS and then percentage increase: F-16 Instant Action (IA) Free Flight: 53 70 32% FA-18 IA Ready on the Ramp: 59 78 32% JF-17 IA Free Flight: 63 79 25% MiG-19 IA Transit: 63 76 21% AJS37 IA Air Intercept: 60 72 20% A-10C IA Takeoff: 36 56 56% MiG-19 Training Landing: 70 93 33% Op SnowFox - AV-8: 46 70 52% Through the Inferno, Persian Gulf, F-14: 69 89 29% Through the Inferno, Persian Gulf, F-16: 58 75 29% Free Flight Practice, NTTR, M-2000C: 72 88 22% And then for comparison outside of DCS, in RDR2 I went from 46 to 62 for an increase of 35%. So bottom line is, I'm seeing 20-33% increase in DCS, with a few instances going up to 50+% improvement. I'm quite happy with the results, although still irritated that graphics card prices have skyrocketed so much over the past two years.
  23. EDIT: SOLD Bought new in Oct 2017 for $820. I've never overclocked it beyond a few simple attempts for a few minutes, as I was happy with its performance at stock speeds. The card is in perfect condition with no problems whatsoever, I was just finally ready for an upgrade. Also have the original box. Price is $375 shipped anywhere in CONUS. Compared to a stock 1080 Ti's 1480/1582 MHz base/boost clock, this card runs at: OC Mode: 1569/1683 MHz Gaming Mode: 1544/1657 MHz Silent Mode: 1480/1582 MHz https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Graphics-Cards/Hydro-GFX-GTX-1080-Ti-Liquid-Cooled-Graphics-Card/p/CB-9060011-WW
  24. OvGME was made to be a replacement, with more functionality, for JSGME, which hasn't been updated in years. The guy who was putting out OvGME has since stopped updating it, but it's still a much better tool overall than JSGME, so at this point there's really no reason to bother with JSGME.
  25. SOLD Doing some cockpit reconfiguring and no longer need the following: X-Keys 80-key programmable keypad Two Derek Speare Designs P-1 button boxes You can see from pictures below (as usual in this forum, they've uploaded upside down and there does not appear to be any way to fix it) that I have my X-Keys configured to act as the Hornet's UFC and central MPCD; you set the key assignments in a config program called MacroWorks and then you print button labels, which fit under clear plastic key covers. The P-1s act as any other USB game controller and are directly assignable to functions within DCS. The X-Keys goes for $250 new, and the P-1s go for $100. I'm asking $100 and $60 each, respectively, with free shipping anywhere within CONUS.
