  1. I struggled with the same issue for quite a while. For now I've settled on using some cushions on my seat back (with a cover to keep them all in place) of my Playseat chair, to push me forward in the seat, and then the seat slides forward right up against the stick. My legs probably overhang the chair more than I'd ideally like, but at least I can comfortably reach everything. Having a cutout around the stick wouldn't quite work with my setup because I also use a Jetseat (the orange and black pad visible on the seat) and I definitely don't want to cut into that.
  2. I did fly a bit last night and loved it. I was confused, though, about why I kept getting those messages—I thought I exited the airspace and headed directly to Sukhumi to land. Is it possible the lead was flying the same course without me even realizing it? I pretty much just exited and RTBed without paying any more attention to what the lead was doing.
  3. Happy to hear you’re planning to run the jets more often because, although I own nearly all DCS aircraft, I’ve been really wanting to try your server with the F-18 but I keep missing the jets nights!
  4. For those who haven't otherwise come across it, AlaskanGrizzly's excellent KneeboardBuilder allows you to specify your kneeboard's size and position, provided you create a new kneeboard group for your aircraft of choice. The only downside to this method is that you'll miss out on custom kneeboards that mission makers package within their miz files; but of course you could simply extract them and add them to the kneeboard group you created above.
  5. I guess i should’ve mentioned that at 1440 and 4K, which I presume most DCS users are running, it’s likely GPU-limited. At 1080 though, I could see CPU being more relevant.
  6. For DCS though, what’s the point? On most reasonably modern systems DCS is heavily GPU-limited.
  7. Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney - P-51D Campaign info I'm having the same issue, and I just confirmed that I have wake turbulence turned off. I can maintain 40-60 at 4K; when I encounter the bombers in Mission 3, it drops a bit, but not terribly. But as soon as the bombers drop their bombs, my FPS plummets to 7-10. After that it never recovers. I should note I haven’t tried the ‘limit AI’ option yet and that I’m on 2.5.6.
  8. Results of GTX 1080 Ti to RTX 2080 Ti upgrade ...unless that 25-30% gets you up and over the 60 FPS mark, thereby allowing use of V-sync to smooth out performance—which was my goal from the beginning. In my opinion that’s what makes this particular upgrade ‘worth it’ for me.
  9. Hmm, TrackIR, yeah I hadn't thought of that. I haven't tried Adaptive Sync yet, no, but that's a good idea. When I say tearing, I meant primarily when I have low framerate (i.e. before I got the 2080 Ti) around 30, and then as I get close to 60, so I think it's the 'other kind' of tearing as opposed to that which occurs when framerate exceeds refresh rate. I've been capping FPS at 60 in Afterburner up to now too; I've seen forum discussions about the merits of using NVCP vs Afterburner but didn't think there was likely much difference in how well it gets implemented. But trying through NVCP is worth a try.
  10. Results of GTX 1080 Ti to RTX 2080 Ti upgrade The prices are indeed ludicrous, I completely agree, but unfortunately I think this is where the top-end cards are going to be from now on. I’m not sure if it was the cryptocurrency miners that pushed prices up this high when the 2080 TI first came out, or the intent was always to market them at this price, but it’s hard to imagine that the next generation is going to be any cheaper now that we’ve crossed the threshold. Because I’ve been running 4K for several years now, and also don’t have a VRR-capable monitor yet (although a few large-format models were shown at CES this year, making the prospect more likely as the year goes on), I rationalized that doing the GPU upgrade now was worth it if I could get near the mythical 4K 60 Hz level and thus be able to enable V-sync and get rid of the screen tearing that has been driving me crazy. I actually do have an LG 55 inch OLED that is G-Sync compatible (I just am not able to use it with my flight sim setup currently) and there’s no doubt in my mind that V-sync and/or VRR is where it’s at in terms of smooth 4K gaming on a 2D screen.
  11. Based on online reviews, 2080 Super cards are likely roughly halfway between the 1080Ti and 2080Ti. Those cards are $700-$800, compared to the 2080 TI at $1000-1400 (with my card being right in middle of $1200). So I would guess that for people running anything less than a 1080 Ti, maybe the 2080 Super would be a worthy upgrade and be more palatably priced.
  12. After nearly 2 1/2 years I finally decided I was ready to pay the absolutely absurd price of an RTX 2080 Ti in order to finally get some much-needed additional FPS in DCS. I ran a series of tests before and after the upgrade and thought it might be of interest for those with similar systems running at 4k considering an upgrade. I ran a variety of missions, mostly Instant Action, and basically just waited for the FPS to settle down within the first 30 seconds or so. Of course these results may not be an accurate estimate of what kind of FPS bump I'll be seeing when fully flying missions, but hopefully they're not far off. Here goes, with before (1080 Ti) and after (2080 Ti) FPS and then percentage increase: F-16 Instant Action (IA) Free Flight: 53 70 32% FA-18 IA Ready on the Ramp: 59 78 32% JF-17 IA Free Flight: 63 79 25% MiG-19 IA Transit: 63 76 21% AJS37 IA Air Intercept: 60 72 20% A-10C IA Takeoff: 36 56 56% MiG-19 Training Landing: 70 93 33% Op SnowFox - AV-8: 46 70 52% Through the Inferno, Persian Gulf, F-14: 69 89 29% Through the Inferno, Persian Gulf, F-16: 58 75 29% Free Flight Practice, NTTR, M-2000C: 72 88 22% And then for comparison outside of DCS, in RDR2 I went from 46 to 62 for an increase of 35%. So bottom line is, I'm seeing 20-33% increase in DCS, with a few instances going up to 50+% improvement. I'm quite happy with the results, although still irritated that graphics card prices have skyrocketed so much over the past two years.
  13. EDIT: SOLD Bought new in Oct 2017 for $820. I've never overclocked it beyond a few simple attempts for a few minutes, as I was happy with its performance at stock speeds. The card is in perfect condition with no problems whatsoever, I was just finally ready for an upgrade. Also have the original box. Price is $375 shipped anywhere in CONUS. Compared to a stock 1080 Ti's 1480/1582 MHz base/boost clock, this card runs at: OC Mode: 1569/1683 MHz Gaming Mode: 1544/1657 MHz Silent Mode: 1480/1582 MHz https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Graphics-Cards/Hydro-GFX-GTX-1080-Ti-Liquid-Cooled-Graphics-Card/p/CB-9060011-WW
  14. OvGME was made to be a replacement, with more functionality, for JSGME, which hasn't been updated in years. The guy who was putting out OvGME has since stopped updating it, but it's still a much better tool overall than JSGME, so at this point there's really no reason to bother with JSGME.
  15. SOLD Doing some cockpit reconfiguring and no longer need the following: X-Keys 80-key programmable keypad Two Derek Speare Designs P-1 button boxes You can see from pictures below (as usual in this forum, they've uploaded upside down and there does not appear to be any way to fix it) that I have my X-Keys configured to act as the Hornet's UFC and central MPCD; you set the key assignments in a config program called MacroWorks and then you print button labels, which fit under clear plastic key covers. The P-1s act as any other USB game controller and are directly assignable to functions within DCS. The X-Keys goes for $250 new, and the P-1s go for $100. I'm asking $100 and $60 each, respectively, with free shipping anywhere within CONUS.
  16. Well I decided to go ahead and buy a T-50CM2 grip and a WarBRD base. I can now confirm that no, if you try use a T-50CM2 grip on a TM Warthog base, you cannot use the VPC software to configure exactly which 19 of the 28 buttons on the grip that you want to be recognized. You can do this when using a VPC base, but not with a TM base. The limiting factor is in the VPC software, where you create a profile with the buttons you want to be functional: the first step in the process is selecting which base you're using, and only VPC bases are listed. So with a TM base, you can't even create a profile. It'll take me a while to adjust to the diffent feel of the WarBRD base compared to my TM WH base, but the 28 vs 19 buttons (in addition to the 8-way hat) are absolutely worth the upgrade, in my opinion.
  17. Sold!
  18. Edit: Sold. I bought this new in July but have since decided to go with a VirPil setup. It's had minimal use and is in perfect condition. Price is $160, shipped free anywhere within the continental US.
  19. T-50CM2 limitations on TMW base? Actually I wasn’t planning to use any software at all, and instead just directly assign functions within DCS, which is how I’ve been doing it for several years now after tiring of creating Foxy etc profiles. I didn’t realize that TM or VPC software may allow selection of which buttons I wanted to enable. If that’s the case, getting the CM2 grip may still be worthwhile for me, as I realized my math was originally wrong above in that I left out the 8-way hat. So it’s 8-way hat plus 19 buttons when using the WH base — same as using a WH grip, which obviously makes sense! Part of the reason I’m considering the CM2 is that one of the red buttons on my WH has stopped working. Thus even without the 9 buttons I’d lose when not using a VPC base, I’d still gain one beyond what I have now (assuming the fault with my WH button resides in the grip rather than the base, of course!).
  20. Thanks for the replies. But is that correct, that you can somehow choose which buttons to have work? I would rather think that they would work in sequential order, like buttons 1 through 19 would register but after that they would not. Anyway, i’m surprised that only 19 would work, because the Warthog technically has 21 buttons in addition to the 2-stage trigger: 3x 4-way hats 1x 4-way hat plus one center press button S1, S2, S3 and S4 I bought a T-50 base about a year ago but ended up selling it as I didn’t like the ‘notchiness’ of the stock’s travel, i.e. the feeling that the stick preferred to be moved only along the X and Y axes as opposed to feeling equal force everywhere. My simply-modded Warthog base (removed the big spring and moved the 4 small springs to near the top of the base) now provides near-perfectly equal stick forces in every direction. Thus I’m hesitant to consider any other stock base as they all seem to have the notchiness I dislike.
  21. I’m considering buying the CM2 grip but I have not been able to determine exactly which buttons and axes will not work on the TMW base, which is what I intend to pair it with. Can anyone who’s tried this confirm for me exactly what works and what doesn’t?
  22. I recently upgraded an i5-2500k-based system built in 2011 (running a 4.8Ghz overclock with 16GB DDR3) to an i7-9700k + 32GB DDR4 setup, and to be honest performance (min/max FPS wise) has not changed at all (using a 1080 Ti brought over from old system). The only noticeable difference is that DCS uses upward of 21GB of RAM on occasion, which I never realized was possible when I only had 16 on the old system. Presumably that will reduce stuttering in general.
  23. Andre, thank you! After I initially got it working, I never came back and checked out this thread. Turns out I had exactly the problem you mention -- SSA was no longer updating itself. Renaming the 2.0 folder solved the issue. Thanks!
  24. Wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem: Several months ago I bought the VirPil T-50 grip and used it with my Warthog base for a while. I ended up selling the T-50 as I didn't like it as much as the Warthog grip, but after reattaching the WH grip, I found that my S2 button was no longer recognized. I tried driver uninstall/reinstall, unplugging/replugging into multiple USB ports, removing and replacing the grip from the base, etc. but nothing worked. Then one day it just magically started working again. More recently I got the F-18 grip and now the same thing has happened again -- my Warthog grip's S2 button is no longer recognized. I suspect this may have something to do with the F-18 grip not having any equivalent to S2 (i.e. the F-18 grip lacks one button compared to the Warthog grip), but I'm not sure. Regardless, again nothing works to fix it. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, found any solution to it?
  25. Received mine a week ago but didn't get time to install it until today. Easy setup and as everyone else has said, absolutely night and day compared to the default one. Highly recommended!
