  1. Yes, but that doesn’t do what I’m talking about here—it just makes all the fonts bigger, basically makes it look like you dropped the in-game resolution way down. What I want is for the fonts to stay the same small size, but for the GUI’s borders to be pushed out to the edges of the screen.
  2. Snacko, when you refer to your Saved Games folder, presume you mean the 'DCS.openbeta' folder, as opposed to the 'DCS' folder? Because only the former has been updated to 2.5; the latter still corresponds to the 1.5.8 release version.
  3. I've posted about this in the past but this still hasn't changed in the past three years, so I'm hoping maybe I can ignite some renewed interest now that 2.5 is out. Why doesn't the controls GUI in 2.5 take up more of the screen? For example, I play on a large 4K screen and the space the controls GUI takes up is very inconveniently small. I use ELEVEN controllers in DCS and the amount of horizontal and vertical scrolling I have to do in order to map their controls is absolutely absurd. It's like there's some kind of hardcoded limit on the number of pixels that the controls GUI can take up and thus it doesn't scale up with the chosen resolution. Even though the attached screenshot is from an older version of DCS, it hasn't appreciably changed since then. You can see in the screenshot what I'm talking about. ED, any chance this could be fixed? Why is it like this?
  4. My plate has been sitting in my garage for months now. Will PM you.
  5. FitzZZ's excellent DCS Configuration Tool simplifies this -- you choose a set of 'master' config files and it copies into whatever other DCS installs you have.
  6. This is an absolutely outstanding guide. I've been pushing OvGME on people for a while now, and having this handy reference to point them to is priceless. Thank you!
  7. Outstanding app, something that has been needed from the very start when ED branched the different versions. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this!
  8. Worth noting that the Instant Action takeoff mission starts from Senaki-Kolki, which appears to be a framerate killer. When I created my own takeoff mission from Sochi, my starting FPS jumped from 30 (at Senaki) to 65 (at Sochi).
  9. Given that Jabber’s videos have been in the open alpha, I would guess that it’s a pretty good bet that it’s there, if not also in the open beta.
  10. Updated first post with overclocking and other games results.
  11. I should have added that my current 2.1.1 config is unoptimized, graphics-wise—e.g. deferred lighting is on whereas in its current iteration I’d likely disable it, etc. But the point of the tests was to be as stressful as possible and just show the percent difference the 1080 yields. I should also note that in general, I still do most of my flying in 1.5 exactly because 2.1 performance is so relatively low. In 1.5, even with the 980 I was generally getting 40-50 FPS consistently.
  12. Coffee Lake finally appears to be worth upgrading to, so I anticipate I’ll do that within the next few months. But both GPU and CPU are maxed out in DCS right now, so I expect a faster card would still show improvement.
  13. As I have not seen a simple comparison like this on this forum yet, I thought this might prove useful to anyone considering the same upgrade I just did. I’ve been running two 980 Ti’s for two years now, and obviously the second card is useless within DCS but does provide a significant boost in frame rate in Assetto Corsa and Project CARS, the only other two games I run on my PC. But I finally rationalized the jump to a 1080 Ti, and to what is currently the fastest card out there — the Corsair Hydro GFX GTX 1080 Ti — a water-cooled card that a recent review on HardOCP showed could hit a 20% overclock beyond stock 1080 Ti speeds. I run DCS at 4K, with most graphics options high, and also a SweetFX / ReShade profile on top of that to sharpen up the image. My quick comparison tests of two different scenarios in DCS 2.1.1 have showed an 85-100% improvement in frame rate with this 1080 Ti — and this is at the card’s default clocks! Somewhat disappointingly, at the max stable overclock that I’ve managed to reach so far, performance only goes up 5-10%; but this card does do an incredible job of keeping the temps under load very low. Scenario 1: F-5E3 flying low over Las Vegas strip with 7 other planes in the air next to it: 980 Ti: 15 FPS 1080 Ti: 30 FPS 1080 Ti OC: 33 Scenario 2: A-10C takeoff instant action mission: 980 Ti: 23 FPS 1080 Ti: 43 FPS 1080 Ti OC: 45 I also tested the Su-25T and M-2000C takeoff instant action missions, and got nearly identical results. Needless to say I’m pretty impressed with these results, and I’ll update this thread when I find some time to push the overlock. UPDATE: Some other games for comparison: Assetto Corsa, triple screen 980 Ti SLI: 65 1080 Ti: 80 1080 Ti OC: 85 Project CARS 2, triple screen 980 Ti SLI: 40 1080 Ti: 52 1080 Ti OC: 54 Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, 4K 980 Ti SLI: 45 1080 Ti: 51 1080 Ti OC: 53
  14. Oh WOW! I had taken a nearly two month break from DCS and just came back this week, but hadn't closely read the release notes before yesterday's update. Awesome! Thank you so much!
  15. Thank you so much for these continual updates! This app is now as critical to my DCS sessions as is my TM Warthog. Looking forward to a functional STEER panel hopefully eventually being added and thereby letting me finally achieve my years-long goal of having a fully functional CDU/STEER panel in my pit.
  16. boarder2, did you happen to see my post in the other thread from November, asking if there is any way to have a black background to the CDU text screen?
  17. Just wanted to thank you for all of your excellent work on this, it is very much appreciated.
  18. I thought NWS was in addition to the mic button, not replacing it. Are you tuned to the correct frequencies and certain that you're using the radio correctly? There could be a realism setting that is preventing you from using the '/' key.
  19. Awesome, can't wait to give this a try! I loved your Guardians of the Caucasus dynamic campaign, and very much appreciate all the time you've put into these.
  20. Could you tell me what font you used on the MFD cards? I've been trying to identify this font for a while now as I make overlays for my controllers, but have yet to figure it out.
  21. And it worked! Yes, as soon as I start taxiing, all is fine. Thanks for the assist. Now off to finish this excellent campaign.
  22. I just re-checked all my controllers' axes and confirmed I don't have any conflicting inputs. And I tried missions 11 and 14 again and had same problem, but then in 15 I didnt. HOWEVER -- I've likely never tried to taxi and see if it goes away! Will give that a try tonight; thanks for the suggestion, Redglyph.
  23. Sure; only two files get updated when I run the mission -- dcs.log and debrief.log. The latter just shows the positions of all objects in the mission, so I presume there's no useful info there. I've attached the former, although I don't see anything in there that appears to have to do with controls. dcs.txt
  24. I'm having a problem when using the Android app with Open Beta 1.5.5: Is there no way to have the CDU screen have a black background? With a clear background, anywhere I drag it on my main screen then obviously shows whatever is behind it in the CDU screen in the app.
