Only IF; The bug your reporting can be found, whitout having to try out all 101 different search term combinations one could think of The bugs you finding whit the search function have an version number attached The bugs you find whit the search function have been confirmed, which usually doesn't happen. And when it does its burried somewhere in the thread, requring one to read the whole thread. All in all, very inefficient and time consuming. Could be improved though if every confirmed bug report is edited in the first post to reflect this. -

Correct, all helicopters i'm familiar whit that have an actual torque meter indicate the torque on the shaft going from the engine into the main gearbox.

Maybe make a prefix compulsory for Beta Bugs in the thread title? Like simply "beta .5.xxxx" where xxxx is exact version number. Or maybe use tags instead. Easier to search for whit the search engine. -

How are NON ED Beta testers going to assure the bug they found is in fact new? Work in Progress? Solved and re-appeared? If by means of just this forums, that's going to be pretty much impossible. Specially because most regular bug reports are made without mention of version number. So, any plans already on how this will be organized. Or still in the making? -
No, the swashplate does not transmit any torque, that's what the MRH drive shaft is for.

Mind you though, that "instructor" limits us to a max bank angle of 10 Degrees. Could you ask him to explain what happens at 30 degrees bank angle?:music_whistling: 10 degrees will take you about 36 hours to fly a 360 degree turn...... so not gonna do that unless its a small course correction

In TS 3 go to "Settings" "options" "Hotkeys" And in the lower right of the window is an dropsown menu. There you will find "DirectInput" -

Nope, no issues here. Then again, im only a client on a server. Not hosting a server myself In case your not doing this already try; Launching TS server as administrator Launching TS client as administrator Launching DCS as administrator Whenever i play DCS, everything i use that's related to it is launched as administrator. This was needed to prevent issues of all kinds. Hope this helps.

From the same site; Guess what happens when applying back pressure on the cyclic? That's right, you sacrifice airspeed. So in an co-ordinated turn, keeping the same altitude and airspeed you need to; push cyclic left/right and FORWARD pull collective to compensate for the extra power requirement use pedals to keep the ball centered. The above all at the same time by the way, not after each other. Also, i never said physics failed, only that physics are not at play in the 90 degrees controls input off-set. Hint, study some aerodynamics and follow the input rod (pitch link, whatever other names you wanna use) round the swashplate to see what it does and what happens to the rotor blade at the same time. If you do this you should be able to discover all on your own why there is an 90 degrees conrol input offset. And also why its an aerodynamic effect that has nothing to do whit physics.

Please not the gyroscopic precession again. I know its being thought in schools, and even official manuals. But its wrong. Though, when explained it does work out. But not because of physics. The effect is aerodynamic in nature. (and as such has nothing to do whit gyroscopic precession, which is an physical effect, not an aerodynamic one) And now its time to duck for cover as everyone will start saying i am wrong.

It's different in the fact that a co-ordinated turn, at least the way i understand it is; A turn at the same speed and altitude as you started and no side slipping. To achieve this in a helicopter you need to do the exact opposite then in a airplane. ie, pushing the cyclic forward instead of pulling it aft. And where you pull the helicopters collective to compensate for the extra power requirement you need to push the throttles in an airplane. So yes, from a straight and level flight pulling aft will result in similar behavior, what you have to do to keep flying in co-ordinated manner is quite different though. (not to mention the rudder pedals)

No it doesn't And as such you should not fly it as an fixed wing. Two totally different things. To turn in a helicopter; Move cyclic left/right to initiate the turn Use pedals to prevent side slipping Move cyclic forward to keep the speed you were flying Move collective up to compensate for the extra thrust required by the new attitude of the helicopter. Please note that in certain parts of the helicopters performance envelope it may not be possible to keep both speed and altitude while making a given turn.

Option number 2 is NO OPTION. DCS does not run without a dedicated video card. As for Nvidea or AMD, according to all the benchmarks there pretty equal when compared at the same price point. So that's up to you.

I believe you can replace it for V1.2.4 yes, Coff posted a file somewhere that you could run from inside the game server and it would return your installation to .4 Not sure where he posted it though, if your patient enough you could try going trough coff posts for the last week orso. EDIT not having any problems myself btw.

Don't agree, in the 159th we fly pretty much all aircraft. And the SU-25 is an great and very capable platform, if used well. This means you would need to co-op whit KA-50, A-10C or SU-25T to do the target spotting for you. But the SU-25 is very capable of taking out sams and even ships when loaded up whit a couple of KH-25ML's Most fun is laying down giant rocket barrages on the enemy though. As for the review, its a nice video, but doesn't really show a whole lot about the SU-25. Top tip of the day, try a landing speed of between 230 and 300 km/h depending on overall weight of the aircraft.

Does DCSW really need more than 4Gb of RAM?

8GB of ram installed over here. Typical RAM usage of the system when i play DCS is between 5 and 6.5 GB. Have seen it peak above 7 while i was hosting a DCS game and playing as well. So yes, more then 4 GB is useful, even if DCS itself won't use it all, the OS does. -

Very True, SSD "wear" is purely an theoretic issue. Don't you worry made, not matter how hard you try, your SSD will last longer then the time you would want to use it. How i know? One of those hardware testing and reviewing sites has done an torture test whit Samsung 840 SSD's, they ran it till they, literally, died. Followed ofcourse some theory and calculation but; If you write on average 30 GB of data per day, (and ofcourse also delete again to make room for new data) the life span is still about 24 years.
