Troops are close enough but not in danger of getting squashed, no other triggers used, other than the ME extract task, the ground is flat (apron of airfield as well as flat field tested). If you replace the Huey with an Mi-8 then it functions properly as the Mi-8 actually touches down which triggers the troops to board. Also works fine with the ai CH-47 and the UH-60D, Its just the Huey that never manages to go that extra metre and rest its skids on the ground.

I was playing around with some SP missions getting Hueys to pick up troops using the embark task option, then dropping them off at a target one, but the ai huey wont land any more, it stays hovering about a metre above the ground, so the troops never board.

Complete Transport and Logistics Deployment - CTLD
Sprool replied to Ciribob's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
I have an issue that is puzzling me, placing Hercs in as transport in the Kola map, its a small simple single player sandbox mission. I know the Herc is not supported any more, but it still works at many airfields - Using the herc-cargo-ctld code, all the correct naming procedures for logistics & pickzones works fine at some airports, I can use them to load troops into Hueys, and hercs, i can put troops and vehicles into hercs and they parachute out as ground units, but at other airports the game freezes on spawn-in to a particular herc if its cold or hot-start, and the mist, ctld and herc-cargo script just doesnt load. It's just with the Herc. Why would it all work fine at all airports with the Huey but only a few airports in Kola with the Herc? Are there other settings I may not know about, such as time spend loading the textures first? -
Yep I checked and set to 'English' but it was all still in Russian. The old mig-15 english pit & textures mod wont work as I think they changed all the texture file naming protocols.

How can I get the english cockpit working in the FC version?

Its really nice to see Polychop giving some custom skins back to the real pilots as a tribute, but these are only going to carry that heartfelt meaning to a very small number of people - those closely involved. This in my opinion is better in the realm of the talented skinning community to produce an individual skin over one of the basic unmarked skins. Great they organised the files & textures to cram so many in to such a small disk space but so many of them are virtually the same to the rookie pilot, just with a different name stuck to the side. I dont need so many lookalikes in my hangar, personally. They will never get used. Other folk will differ in their requirements. The beauty of DCS is that everyone can play it at their own level. Pity theres always a shouty passionate few who can get outraged that someone else takes something different from the game, sorry sim.

Esc key not working in multiplayer
Sprool replied to boyington2's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs - General
Further issues with esc key not working - I jump into instant action - caucasus free flight, esc works at first, when i change any control seetings or keybinds then esc key no longer works?? I have to ctrl+alt+del to exit -
Is there also a way of exiting the orbit left/right command to fly straight again?

Esc key not working in multiplayer
Sprool replied to boyington2's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs - General
Yes, I get the same issue in SP missions, tutorials, quick starts, works ok at first but whenever I try to set custom snap views the esc key then no longer works. Result is ctrl+alt+del to close down and I never get the chance to save the custom snap views. I'm sure I have had non-MP lockups before trying to change or set custom snap views, in fact I have not yet flown the Kiowa in a MP server. [edit]: Got same issue in VR without touching snap view settings, I think thats a red herring. -
Esc key not working in multiplayer

i've pinned it down to a strange issue; Seems to be specifically the Kiowa. If I enter an instant action mission the esc key works fine, but I'm trying to reset some custom snap views (using the numpad keys) and as soon as Ive stored one, the esc key no longer works. -
Esc key not working in multiplayer
Sprool replied to boyington2's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs - General
I also noticed this problem, since last update or installing the Polychop Kiowa, in the training missions theres no esc key so no way to exit at the end of the lesson, also in my own 'sandbox' missions flying the Kiowa the esc key is disabled but ther are no keymapping conflicts, I dont use SRS or Lotatc. The only way I can exit dcs is doing the old ctrl+alt+del. -
how to select a specific hellfire in a mixed loadout
Sprool replied to skypickle's topic in DCS: AH-64D
sorted, was switching tads/fcr on the display but not on the grip button. Remapped a couple of controls. -
thanks that was useful, you confirmed my suspicions about wiping memory when starting a new scan, at least i know its not me missing a trick.

how to select a specific hellfire in a mixed loadout
Sprool replied to skypickle's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Either seat, i can switch from SAL to RF but not RF to SAL, im trying to disengage fcr and get the tads display up again but cant select SAL. Im not engaging HMD in the front seat, just the centre screen/TADS -

Now the FCR is with us, I found I can change from SAL to RF but not back again, I'm assuming pilot error here...? -
I'm still waiting for the corsair

VR is a bit fickle but if MSFS can implement an easy switching system to and from VR->flat screen and do it consistently and predictably (which it does on my setup) then I would hope same can be implemented in DCS. It takes a lot of tweaking to get the balance of performance and quality but when it is there it is fantastically immersive. DCS runs at over twice the frame rate of msfs in VR, but it drives me mad every time I remove the headset the game freezes and crashes.
-
3) targets might have moved - it can already distinguish moving targets and changes symbology accordingly, and the FCR still marks them with an X once they've been fired on.
-
OK, but if it's clever enough to put an X on the screen where you already fired a missile why would it allow a second one to be fired there? Regarding the scan area slew, can you do it whilst scanning?
-
On the FCR it already marks an 'X' on targets you've launched missiles at, to have to mark it manually as well with a target point seems a bit of a pain - if it knows you already shot at it, it should not reset with a new scan should it? I'm suspecting this is not a feature but something that's not yet fully implemented, I hope. I dont like wasting Hellfires on targets already killed. The whole point of the FCR is to release a load of Hellfires on a group of enemy positions in a short as possible time with minimal effort.

fixed When in CPG FCr mode and select HMD game will crash
Sprool replied to KiwiOz's topic in Bugs and Problems
this bug has already been reported -
2 issues I'm finding with the Apache FCR; first the manual slew L & R for the scan area, only moves when you stop scanning. When you stop scanning it re-centres anyway so is there any point in having the scan slewable? Should I be able to slew it left and right when its actively scanning? Second, if I stop then re-start a scan it picks up a target I have previously hit and destroyed, and will send another hellfire to hit it again. Its like the scan restarting wipes any memory of previously targeted and destroyed units, and the scan is picking up destroyed ones as still live.

Not sure I can agre with this, I've not sat in an F-16 cockpit or F-18 irl but in game vr the F-16 feels really tiny compared tot he F-18, and the Huey feels huge with really big gauges in comparison, as does the Mi-8.
