Oh yeah with a good AIO on that CPU you should easily be able to get the clock speed a good bit higher.

What happened to VR Performance in the Persian Gulf?
dburne replied to dburne's topic in Virtual Reality
Well luckily at least on my end even though lower fps and higher frame-time performance is still acceptable for me. -

What happened to VR Performance in the Persian Gulf?

Ok thanks for the info. -
Hey gang, So I was out of the game for several weeks after undergoing spinal surgery. Been back now for bit. Anyway something I have been meaning to ask, what happened to VR performance in the Persian Gulf? Flying the Hornet off the Super Carrier. Used to be I had lower framerates when on the carrier going through startup, then after the launch and airborne fps would increase. That is no longer the case for me, my fps stays about the same both on the Supercarrier and airborne flying over nothing but water. Now granted I am enjoying the more consistent framerates especially as they are still high enough to give me a decent experience , but just curious as to the why?

dburne replied to Wolf8312's topic in Virtual Reality
My VR History - Rift CV1 - Rift S - Quest - Reverb G2 - Index - Vive Pro 2 - Aero. Most comfortable by far - Reverb G2. Least comfortable - Index. Understand a lot of this is dependent on one's head-shape so like anything ymmv. -

Are you referring to running the new Beta of Motion Smoothing in 3.8? -
Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев
dburne replied to Supmua's topic in Virtual Reality
Once I disabled Motion Smoothing my performance came back to where it was, so no only when enabling Motion Smoothing does it suffer. So no real need to roll back to previous version. -

That kind of takes away the purpose of Motion Smoothing if it requires the latest GPU to even be able to run it. Motion Smoothing should help folks with lesser system be able to run the Aero. Thanks for the tip but I am not going to mod anything. -
Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев

Oh hell no, absolutely kills my performance. Previously I was running 45 fps + with a decent experience, now in the 20's and looks awful. Definitely beta not quite ready for prime time. Release notes mentioned the performance issue, just worse than I thought it might be. I could only try my flight for like 5 minutes after the take off, it was really bad imho. -

Sounds like I may prefer to keep running DCS as I do now, with no reprojection or vsync. Long as my fps are above 45 fps in Steam VR I can have a pleasurable fairly smooth experience with not much stuttering. Anyways will find out here shortly how I like it. -

Release notes: Varjo Base, release version 3.8 December 21, 2022 This Varjo Base release version only supports XR-3, VR-3, and Varjo Aero. Users of VR-1, VR-2, VR-2 Pro, and XR-1 Developer Edition should continue using Varjo Base release 3.7.2. This release includes improvements and bug fixes to existing features. Introduced a new setting named Motion smoothing that improves image quality by predicting and smoothing movement in applications. This setting is released as Beta and it replaces Motion Prediction in earlier releases. Read more about Motion smoothing. Fixed motion smoothing artefacts when occlusion mask was enabled. Fixed incorrect motion smoothing behavior when depth buffer was enabled in Microsoft Flight Simulator or in other applications where the depth buffer size did not match the color buffer size. Known issues when using Enabled (Beta) option: ----> Enabled setting does not have optimized performance yet, and it can drop the application fps significantly when turned on. To improve application performance, you can try adjusting application settings to lower the image quality requirements. ----> Occasional ghosting or micro stuttering when turning head. ----> Visual artefacts and distortions in static user interface contents, for example application menus, may appear, especially if the user interface includes transparent elements. 3 [7:32 AM] ---------- Added new options in Vertical synchronization setting in the Headset tab: Automatic, Enabled – Fixed 45 fps, and Enabled – Fixed 30 fps. Connected game pads are now displayed with a dedicated icon in the positional tracking status area in Varjo Base. Added a new mixed reality camera setting to enable adjusting the sharpness of the mixed reality camera video. (XR-3) Improved the way the Headset view video recordings are cropped to make them more cinematic. Added a possibility to include the Varjo logo and device name in screenshots and video recordings. Reduced memory consumption for marker tracking to help prevent crashes of Varjo Tracking process caused by lack of RAM. Fixed an issue that caused 3rd party tracking plugins not to load in Varjo Base. The issue only affected plugins built with the Tracking Plugin SDK with 3.7 release. (edited) 1 [7:34 AM] Varjo Reality Cloud: Added support for uploading and storing Autodesk VRED application files to Reality Cloud. Added support for starting a single-user session from a VRED file. Added support for creating a collaborative session using VRED files that have been uploaded to Reality Cloud. Added support for creating a Unity or Unreal Engine application session without storing any files to Reality Cloud. Added new functionality that allows user to select organization when creating a session if they belong to more than 1 organization. Improved the error message given when trying to use Reality Cloud with an unsupported version by providing more accurate information about the supported Varjo Base versions. Developer tools and APIs: Eye Tracking: Exporting eye tracking data in Analytics Window: Added new data item, relativeToUnixEpochTimestamp, that is recorded to the CSV file. The data item records gaze frame timestamps since the Unix Epoch (time-of-day) timestamps. Added API to convert from Varjo system timestamps to the time-of-day timestamps expressed as Unix Time. Open XR: Fixed a compatibility issue with Vive OpenXR API, which caused some of the Varjo OpenXR functionality not working correctly if Vive Console was installed on the same PC. Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев
dburne replied to Supmua's topic in Virtual Reality
Varjo Base 3.8 is now out on the release channel. Release notes not posted yet. Anxious to try out Motion Reprojection if it is indeed included. Sadly have some doc appts this morning so will be later on in the morning before I can try it out. -

This GPU situation is so ridiculous. Only ones that have them are scalpers and I would not buy anything from a scalper. They can burn all I care. EVGA set aside GPU's with a que system for 30xx cards, shame they dropped GPU's now. Only company that tried to look out for us enthusiasts. In fact that is how I got my 3090 FTW3 Ultra when I did, through the que system. Worked great for me. I sure do miss them.

USB powered Hubs with individual on/off switches per port are a wonderful thing.

Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев
dburne replied to Supmua's topic in Virtual Reality
Ok makes sense thanks. I run mine at pretty high resolution (3800x3200 app) which is the default high and long as I can maintain 45 fps plus I am ok as far as smoothness. However things off in distance looking pretty rough - like coming in for carrier trap at 5km the supercarrier looks all fuzzy. But man that cockpit clarity is incredible. -

Ok so question for ya - why set the default so high when you are lowering the resolution that far? -
VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle Mode Dial Function
dburne replied to Baldrick33's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Yeah I believe that is likely correct but I have not and likely will not dig that deeply into it. I just have no need for more buttons right now. -
VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle Mode Dial Function
dburne replied to Baldrick33's topic in VIRPIL Controls
By default it is limited to the 6 buttons you see there, assigns different button numbers per selection of the dial. However you can set it in the software to do much more. Me personally I like the KISS principle so just leave mine at default -- and I hardly use all 6 as it is and that is just at one dial setting. If you want to explore the possibilities suggest starting with a good read in the manual. ( make sure you have latest). -
Sorry hopefully someone else can help ya, I do not yet have a motherboard that supports that. Just what I have read recently here and on Discord. I would think there would be settings in bios for that but wait for confirmation please.
-
Make sure vsync is unchecked. Also please note there is a current issue with new 4090 cards on newer motherboards and Aero where the E cores need to be disabled otherwise can be stuttering. Hopefully Varjo will get a fix out for that at some point.

At least in my case space is not an issue. I am though going to hold out for an MSI card. No real reason other than just because I think it is the one I want. No big rush anyways, it is not like I am not enjoying DCS immensely every day.

Demand I suppose. Scalpers. You can find them all day long over 2k for sale by scalpers. Scum of the earth.
