  1. MSFS 2020 supports Open XR natively. Other flight sims have to hack it in to use it. It would be nice if DCS added native support.
  2. Thanks much as mentioned I will not be using a tablet. I will not be taking notes on my kneeboard. All I want is to display in my VR headset so I can follow along the checklist as I learn things. Very simple yet seems so complex to achieve. I will try messing with it later on this afternoon when I return. Wow thanks so much for all that great information, I really appreciate you going to all that trouble for me!! That should be a big help - going to be out a while but will certainly give this a shot upon my return later this afternoon - will let ya know how I make out on it. Thanks again that was awesome of you!
  3. Lol I don't know if I am even going to be able to learn Open Kneeboard. Directions seem somewhat lacking, trying to join his Discord server is even convoluted, etc. Alls I want to be able to do is add a pdf document I have created, for instance Spit Cold Start, and have it display in the kneeboard so I can pull up in VR and go through start up checklist. This is my learning procedure for all aspects of new aircraft. For instance I have several pdf's for each section of the Hornet's weapons systems that I can insert any time into my kneeboard. This is really all I want.
  4. Thanks much for your feedback!! Unfortunately I have a fairly busy day today and won't get to dig into it till later on in the afternoon but I certainly will and let ya know how I make out with it.
  5. Thanks for all the great info. Again I only will be using in VR so my main usage would be in VR. I will have a good look at all this and try to digest it over the next couple of days. I do like the fact it is still supported.
  6. What is VRK? Needless to say google does not quite get it. I don't care a thing about jotting down notes or writing anything. All I want is a kneeboard I can use in VR that I can display individual pages showing certain things at a time, like cold starts. I want to be able to view that and page through it whilst doing the cold start procedure. At least until I have done it so much have it committed to memory. So far all this OpenKneeboard has done is confuse me even way more just trying to understand how to use it. Don't think it is going to be for me and I was hopeful there at first, shame really as it appears it is still supported and receiving updates. If there are any instructions with it to clear things up for me I sure can't find them which is too bad.
  7. Seems that would be a lot of individual pages to scan.
  8. Well I downloaded OpenKneeboard but going to have to dig into some documentation somewhere as I can not quite get it figured out. Hoping it gives me what I want. I just want the ablility to for example print off the cold start procedure and be able to view the cold start procedure in my kneeboard in VR headset.

    Slow game login

Yeah must be - just kind of unusual.

    Slow game login

Seems to be taking forever to get logged into the game and it launch today... wonder what is up with that.
  11. Nice thought but all my family (who is left) are from the deep south.
  12. Hey gang, Been using Kneeboard Builder for a number of years now and always like it, however it is no longer supported and now I can not get it to display my pages correctly - they are all garbled up. I need a good kneeboard program for VR. I like to create my own kneeboard with pages for individual pdf's that I have saved to cover each section of an aircraft I am learning, like cold start for instance I have a needboard showing all the steps for cold start (From Chuck's Guides). Working on learning the DCS Spit now and cold start is typically the first thing I learn. Something not too complex that is easy to learn and displays nicely in a VR Headset. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
  13. I tried Open XR with the Toolkit for about a week some time ago. Went back to Steam VR due to the simplicity. I did not care for that myriad of tweaking and adjustments one can get into with the Toolkit and honesty I saw a little gain in performance just not that much. Now I spend bulk of my time flying not tweaking. I think most folks really like using Open XR and Toolkit though so I am likely in the minority.
  14. 4080.
  15. Should not being doing that. I have the same setup and mine is always solid as can be. Contact VKB support they will get you sorted. Sometimes one just does not have a good connection simply needs reseat and retighten fastener. Sounds like your case is different which is why I suggest contacting support. I use this thing several hours on most days so I have put a lot of mileage on it , have had it couple of years or so now. Never had a glitch.
  16. Been checking Best Buy , Nvidia, and other stores off and on most of days. I also signed up for notifications at NowInStock however they have disabled cell phone notifications for now. Just get email.
  17. Some of you go way deeper into the weeds than I likely ever will. That is ok though I am still having a blast with DCS and my Aero several hours daily. Now just trying to get my hands on a 4090 at retail price. Scalpers can all burn far as I care.
  18. Might want to do what I have done since lead times are running around a year or so. I got another order put in , perhaps there will be a V3 by that time maybe. I know he has a fella working with him on getting it working with MSFS 2020. If that happens and it is easy to use with it I expect those lead times will get even longer. In the meantime so loving Point CTRL. It has made a huge difference in immersion in DCS for me. When my turn comes up I will take whatever he has as I want to have a spare for back up anyway.
  19. I got a Virpil Collective which I like pretty good, just need to get some more time with it also as have been mainly flying Hornet at this time. Still stuff to learn with the Apache. I personally did not care much for the difference in force required to raise versus lower collective however got a counter balance mod that works pretty well now they are about the same. I do like the collective though better than using my Virpil CM 3 throttle as a collective. Just need some more chopper time.
  20. Very carefully I have issues as well. Probably best would be to use the voice training in Vaicom pronouncing them best you can to try and get them to recognize how you would say them. Others with more experience with it may be able to help you more as well.
  21. I wrote my opinion to support yesterday evening, had an email this morning - describing how to take them out of the headset on the Aero lol. I guess I just reverse that procedure. I don't know I tried every way I could think of yesterday, may give it at least another shot later on in the morning today.
  22. No. Decided to just put my VR Optician Lenses back in ( very easily) before I kept screwing around with it and end up scratching a lens. Lesson learned for me. I did not even get to compare them. No lens insert should be that difficult to put in. I noticed they also did not seem to have the same type of tabs on them as the VR Optician Lenses. Perhaps tomorrow I will have cooled off and feel a little different and write their support showing my frustration with their mess. Will see not sure I want to waste any more time on it.
  23. Any new orders are going to show back order status. Suggest you read the way the new ordering process works on their forums... https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/1946-new-ordering-process-live-community-discussion/ It is a good system that has been working well for a while now. Basically it reserves the parts and puts you in line for yours to be assembled and shipped. Probably around 3-4 weeks is average but reading that thread will help give a good idea also. Holiday sales can get that lead time a little longer due to demand. I am currently waiting on a new CM3 base Alpha Prime Grip combo.
  24. Very nice upgrade I am envious!! I tried Open XR and got tired of all the adjustments I kept trying to make for just a small gain in performance. I much prefer the easier to use Steam VR and it's simplicity so I stay with it. I find Open XR Toolkit way too convoluted to use and confusing naming conventions for some them. Not worth it for me. Trying to get my hands on a 4090 now but won't be upgrading my 9900k for about another year.
  25. I thought I would give them a try just to compare how they were to my VR Optician Lens with my Aero. Waste of time and money for me, total crap. Never could get them mounted. VR Optician goes on so nice and easy, these VR Lens Lab inserts I received today - not even close. They have the appearance of being slightly larger than my VR Optician Lenses but who knows. Struggled with them a good part of the afternoon and never could get them on so said screw it ain't worth the frustration. I will be passing the word on to fellow Varjo users on Discord as well. VR Optician is the way to go with Aero. These were a total waste of money for me.
