  1. Heyo - I only have 50GB left on my DCS SSD... does anyone have any tricks up their sleeve to install modules/terrain at alternate locations and point DCS to those drives? Or am I stuck having to buy a 1TB drive and move everything over to future proof? :helpsmilie:
  2. you should upload it to userfiles so more folks are exposed to it and it can then reside on the DCS library.
  3. backer rewards is saying "Invalid plane selection" any ideas? Hmm... maybe my 5 aircraft rewards are actually already used? 3 planes + assets pack + Normandy = 5 things ... is that how they are doing it? S!
  4. So i came back to DCS after a long hiatus and have been reacquainting myself with the F-18. As I have navigated back into Multiplayer online I have been finding myself incredibly frustrated flying against the F-14 and the long arm of the pitbull Aim-54. I am generally flying on Growling Sidewinders server and am using my SA page / AWACS to try and keep awareness up. I hate flying low but unfortunately I find flying at altitude does not really give me any options against the phoenix. I usually get the pitbull RWR alert and then - boom - dead.:joystick: What advice do folks have in trying to tactically fly in AO with the F14/aim 54? It feels insurmountable at the moment.:crash: Thanks for any/all advice.:helpsmilie: S!
  5. i made one called frog of war using WWII birds... download it from user files and swap the airframes for what ever you want.
  6. are you using a modifier along with your trigger? I have noticed that modifiers can me momentary or not.
  7. can you check in the editor to see if the same frequency is assigned to PVT 1 2 3 4? If i recall you can make them different and just ensure one of them matches your broadcast freq. K
  8. there are indeed some static buildings you can place but no real support for trees. That said, my gut is suggesting that if you placed the statics in any large density you might face some FPS degradation.
  9. just picked up a razer kraken... unfortunately the helmet sounds are fine from awacs / atc etc... However, my cockpit sounds/sensors rwr are all way quiet. I checked in options and everything is turned up ... any ideas what i might be missing? S
  10. i am actually hopeful that some of the supercarrier logic is transferable to the ramps of the farp/airfields to bring them alive.
  11. id love to see some wwii cruisers and frigates now that we have ju88 torpedoes and schnellboots
  12. Hey Willie! Don't bite too much off in your first go is my advice. SRS requires quite a bit of proficiency in terms of knowing your module radios and how to follow the briefing notes for the MP mission. I'd suggest two things before jumping into MP and SRS all at once. First - give Discord a try. Its a VOIP client thats free where many folks will congregate in MP missions... most of the big servers will have discord information in their server description or briefing. Second - Just try to get into a MP server first without even worrying about comms. Join in.. test out a few spawn ins and get used to how chat, f10 map and briefings look. I'd recommend just trying the Virtual acrobatics server first... theres no combat and they have all the airframes. Join in... read up what you can do in there and then fly around. Use the chat to talk to others. check out whats happening in F10 map etc. Then, check out any server that might have "through the inferno" running... its a good mission to learn how in game maps can be used for coordination and some of the servers are running discord for voice coordination.. some are running SRS.. Finally I'd suggest dipping the toe into multiplayer with SRS.. it will make sense at that point. Honestly though... I have been playing since 2007 and I still feel like Discord + a good MP mission is all a guy needs. Good luck and have fun!
  13. honestly - i just came back to DCS after a hiatus of over a year. I found the combo of the training missions along with some printed checklists the best way to get back into it. Only after you have done the training missions and annotated your checklists would I recommend jumping into the higher fidelity capabilities as seen in youtube channels like spudknocker, crash laobi or ravagetalon just approach the computers in bite size pieces... learn only the litening pod first... then the mavericks, then the HARM etc. Thats why i say stay away from the youtubers until you have the training fundamentals down. good luck and have fun! also .. i hope the quake didnt affect anything in bosnia/herz and that all is well.
  14. im interested - i might even have some old missions kicking about. pretty handy with editor so I could make things for some coop sorties if anyones interested. f5 too.
  15. great map idea but man - it would take forever to model that city and civic density...
  16. wow - what a fantastic idea... i think it would be a great map can the gunboats navigate rivers yet in dcs?
  17. have you updated the game recently?
  18. whats the diff of OLED/LED/QLED? UHD LED are about $2-300 cheaper?
  19. So i want a bigger screen. I am currently using an acer P243w monitor for DCS on my NVIDIA 1070 and really have no complaints. According to control panel it is running at 60Hz refresh. I am looking at a Samsung 43" Tizen 4K TV. It has a "motion rate" of 120 so I am assuming the refresh is also around 60Hz based on what i read. Has anyone bought a larger 4K TV and are there any downsides I am missing? I only play DCS so I'm not interested in spending crazy money on a large gaming monitor for a refresh I'll never notice. Thoughts? Help? THanks.
  20. Hey all, I have been gone for about a year now and logged in today to give DCS a run on my rig. I am running the same rig as before but my temps are now maxing out on my 2600K at 88degC and a fan speed of 2200rpm. i didnt keep playing for fear of damaging the CPU. did somethig change over the last year for CPU overhead in the game or is it just time for me to drop a new CPU fan into my HAF922 case? Thanks for suggestions
  21. Hey all, So i bought my son an Oculus Go for the holidays and had some opportunity to try it out. Now I recognize that the go differs greatly from HTC and even the rift S technical specs but i was looking forward to checking out what the experience might be like for flying. I was always interested in upgrading my system for DCS VR so this seemed like an easy test before jumping into the expense. That said, I downloaded a couple games for him - one being a low graphical fidelity arcade flight game called "ultrawings" - see below: man o man ... did i ever get sick. I have never had motion sickness beyong a bit of a yuck factor on spinning fair rides... this was FAR worse. Here is my questions: 1 - I presume the Frame rate on the Oculus Go is likely abysmally low compared to a dedicated VR rig... would this help the sickness? 2 - has anyone pushed through the sickness and adjusted to VR with no future issues? 3 - is the Go a fair test? I am not wanting to upgrade multiple K worth just to go green again. 4 - is there a different app you would recommend for the go that I should test to approximate dcs? are there any youtube videos you can point me to that would let me see dcs in VR on the GO? 5 - Does resolution matter for sickness? 6 - am I farked?
  22. what is your CPU clocked at?
  23. With the spring sale on i thought maybe i'd buy these for my mi8/l39 i do not see a buy button though... it appears to be gone?
