It says that they were prepared to load 4 bombs into the bay, it doesn’t say that they succeeded. Mosquito armorers were highly motivated and tried to go above and beyond their duty…

You need to go through the door sideways.

IIRC, the fuselage tanks should be drained first (like AUX tanks in P51/47), then the outer tanks, then transfer fuel from drop tanks (if you have them) to outer tanks, save the inner tanks for last. Therefore, the filling priority should be: Inner tanks Outer tanks Center tanks.

At low altitudes a light mosquito will run circles around FW190A8 (human players). The only advantages of the Anton are roll rate, handling at high speeds, and the Mossie’s neg G issues. Defensively the Anton should go for scissors (flat or vertical, not rolling) to exploit its roll and the Mosquito carburetor issues. Alternatively, dive and take the fight to 400 mph, if you still can’t win, at least you will be able to run away.

If you get into a flat spin (most likely to the left) and the usual methods don’t work, cut power to the starboard engine and increase power to the port engine - this will slow the rotation and make the nose come down. Once that happens, push the throttles forwards and equalize the power on both engines to get some forwards speed.

+1 on the flaps, having to assign a precious stick button that latch is annoying. Flaps should have just "Flaps up" and "flaps down" buttons that move the lever one position in the corresponding direction and ignore the latch.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
Bozon replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
OHHHH SHE'S A BEAUTY! LOVE HER! Handles beautifully. You can do some really fun differential throttling shenanigans with hammerheads - if you are very very accurate, otherwise you can throw her into some really difficult spins. Took me 2 hours before rolling her off of the runway for the 1st time - just sat in the cockpit giggling like a 12 year old girl and flipping switches like an imbecile... So much equipment to learn (not yet implemented)! It has some acknowledged issues, such as the overdone carburator choking, odd 1 second delay when firing the Hispanos, lots of glitches, but we are in EA - these will be fixed and my sweetie will be perfect! My crew, doing a barbecue on the port engine and glitching through the wing: -
Carb flooding ( discussion, not bug report! )

Yes, the current behavior seems a bit exaggerated - engines cut out even when reversing a roll with an unloaded plane, or when coming over the top of a (quite moderate) hill. -

THIS FRIDAY?!

25 rounds is almost 25 seconds of continuous firing - that is a lot. From some accounts of anti-shipping sorties with the Banff strike wing, I don’t recall any that even managed to fire 20. I didn’t do a systematic study, but this seems to suggest that you can only get a few seconds of firing per run, and they were not keen on doing too many strafing runs. RPs proved to be much more efficient in anti-shipping. With rockets you front load all your firepower in a volley of 8 rockets, then get the **** out of the way, so more mosquitoes can salvo their rockets within the shortest possible time span. Not so with the long strafing runs of the BFG, which is why in mixed formations they were always timed to attack after the RP mosquitoes. The main advantage of the BFG was that unlike the RPs that spread, it was possible to accurately target specific locations in the ship. Despite their small numbers, the FB.XVIIIs saw a lot of action and were valued in Coastal Command.

I would love to have some of Marcel Bloch’s creations! I think that Mystere IVA saw action with the Israeli air force during the Suez Crisis “operation Kadesh”, along side the Ouragan. During the “6 days war” Israel had Super Mystere B.2 (aka “Sambad”) - which was an excellent aircraft and a good match to the Mig-19 - I would really like to have SMB2 in DCS. And of course the crown jewel - the Mirage IIIc!

Did the Crusader “the last gun fighter” get any actual gun kills? I know it had lots of issues with its guns jamming when fired under G loads. The irony…

Recent Friday news said this will be in the store, but I can’t see it yet. Is the release of the campaign delayed?
-
I agree about the “J”, it goes well with the coming F-8 and A-6. However, we must have an “E” - easily the most produced model, served in many air forces and conflicts around the world and had the largest number of aerial victories. I would love to have both, even if that means 2 modules.

Would you purchase WW2 ETO Night Fighting Modules for DCS?
Bozon replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Over Northern Europe during June/July it is not entirely dark anyway. I posted the story of a Mosquito pilots that shot down a FW-190A8 and damaged another over Normandy at 23:00 at night, after visually spotting and identifying 5 of them from 1.5 miles against what he described as “bright sunset” (at 23:00…). https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/260567-less-famous-mosquito-stories/?do=findComment&comment=4646069 -
I taxi the 47 with tail locked most of the time. I unlock it only for tight circles. In DCS of course.

No no no, it needs to be over-the-top, more like this: but with more big gold $ symbols and a giant boom box. -

Thanks for the screenshot- I can now read it clearly. What the heck is F5 on the list “Change cabin equipment”? Sounds like redecoration of the cabin - a new floor mattress and a Moose head above the fireplace maybe? Edit: After careful consideration, I kindly ask ED to allow fuzzy dice hanging from the ceiling, leopard skin cover for the seats, and a plastic Jesus on the dashboard next to the gunsight. -
Expected Mossie performance vs current plane set
Bozon replied to Drakeshoot's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Post war mosquitoes carried a torpedo. It was not required during the war. A higher bomb load does not give you much if you get shot down. JU88 night bombing of Britain was almost completely stopped because of Mosquito night fighters. No Ju88 was even close to a late war mosquito night fighter (the most numerous model was NF.30). The biggest problem that late NF mosquitoes faced was that they were too successful - the Luftwaffe could not sustain its bomber losses and stopped raiding Britain at night. For this reason Beaufighters NFs had more kills that Mosquito NFs even though the latter were considered as much better and completely replaced the Beaus in that role. When a plane is good it gets kills, when a plane is superior it gets none because no one will face it. -
If by P effect you mean what I think you mean (induced yaw by the “down” moving half of the prop disc producing more pull than the “up” going half) then you are wrong. This has near zero effect when the speed is as slow as taxi speed.

Well, I learned a new word today.
