Can see it now at home. Personal file transfer sites are blocked at work. Just a nice filter on our firewall. That is just about perfect. If you make more for CoD be sure to post them as well.

I would love cards like this for other A/C. Not that I can see it at work since I can not download from your site. Could you pop up a screen shot?

I do not have TIR yet, but I will try your settings when I get to that point. I would say that your photos posted in the early part of the thread showing the pilot looking over the hud is while on the tarmac. The plane is not in this attitude when in flight. It points down for easier take off and taxi view. In flight the wings are level not pointed down on the leading edge. So, I would say that eye level is just below the top of the hud in flight. I have always thought the view was too close in the beginning as well. And looking down should not be the top of the stick.

Yeah, only good part of an F18 is the carrier. Without that, its not very interesting If you want props wait for CoD. :D -
But doesn't all our air have moisture in it? So, compressing it is forcing the moisture into a denser state thus refracting the light differently. As you said, this would be the case at any speed in flight where the air is changing density. If I am wrong so be it, I like learning things but thought I had grasped this idea of shockwaves already in the past.

The moisture in the air is what is being condenssed. That is why you see the cloud during a sonic boom. Light travels differently through water than air.

I thought we would hear when A10 was released. If its officially released, we should hear what the next module is sometime soon. Hopefully before the end of the month when CoD comes out and my attention is taken away from the internet for a long long period of time. I would love a mig28 -
Could you name the dozen or so US combat air craft. F15, F16, F18, A10, F22, F35..... I would take a russian bird for sure.

Noctura is better than H70 and quieter. According to reviews. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5592441&CatId=798 I would grab the 2500k and put the extra money to other things. Not much will use HT unless you have a program you use all the time that utilizes it.

You can buy what you choose, I was just giving suggestions. The reference 6950 can be unlocked to 6970 specs and be OC in most instances. So for the steal price of ~$250 you get a 2gb 6970. 560 and 6950 are about the same price and performance. Both can overclock pretty well and improve performance significantly. No idea what your monitor setup is, but I doubt you will be using eyefinity. So, if you do not want ATI in your setup, grab the 560 when they get to your budget price. If you need to save a few bucks, you could drop down to a propus AMD CPU. This is the athlon 2 x4 which has no L3 Cache and a 3ghz clock. its not a BE so OC will be a little harder but I would still bet you can get to 970 speeds. Depends on cooling. That $40 you save can be put towards the GPU.
-
That is a good start. I would not pick up the 460 though. Watch the sales. 6950 2gb have been hitting $230. Hell yesterday NE had a 5870 2gb eyefinity 6 for $180. Both of those should destroy the 460. When you say your budget is $700 does that include an OS and monitor? What components do you need? $140 955 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808 $69 MSI 770 atx http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130290 $79 DDR3 1333mhz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231424 $250 6950 2gb No link, wait for a sale post on www.hardforum.com $79 Antec PSU 750w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371026 $39 500gb Seagate HDD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395 $20 Optical Total $675ish and will blow my computer away. If you have a few extra bucks you could even run an x6.

I want to see their test setup that is actually getting 10gb/s. Seems more like a theoretical number than a tested and proved number.

HD 5870 2g Video card for $179 if anyones interested!!
power5 replied to KaspeR32's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Was a great deal on an eye6 card. Unfortunately taxes had not come back for me yet so I got in on neither that deal or the 6950 2gb at $230. :( -
If someone besides the british and americans would take a bigger part in the war on terrorism they may get bigger parts in games.
-
What is the object of this game? The graphics are pretty poor. Are there some sort of challenges or just pick a vehicle and drive around?

Razorback: Is there a write up on your pit or more pictures? Looks amazing. I see glass windows and other control panels. That picture is too dark to make everything out though.

You really need to use the Shkval to zoom in and view the area you are intending to fly into. Shkval monitor resolution is not the best so identifying the things you see on it may be difficult. When you spot a target move in till you are just in range then take them out and scan the area again. Find another target and eliminate it. You can not fly over the target area in a Helo like you can in the A10. You will get hit in the BS if you do so. I do not know any personally, but I would assume the typical mission for a Attack chopper pilot is to fly to target area and hold at the perimeter. Then scan till targets are found or the area is determined as clear. Then slowly move forward scanning constantly. This is why the Chopper can trim and hold flight. It allows the pilot to scan the area with his eyes and the shkval. Should not be zipping in and taking out the enemy on a flyby. I learned the hard way that if you do not like picking off targets from far off, you do not want to be a helo pilot. I like doing it this way and consider myself to be drawn to the sniper style of combat vs the marines/infantry style fighting. After the most dangerous threats are taken out, I like to fly in and get close to the enemy and take them out with cannon and rockets. Its fun aiming at infantry as they try to take me out of the sky with their little AK-47s.

Hah, a euro fighter would be awesome but at less than 8 years in service I am really doubting a DCS level sim will be coming anytime soon. -
Kingpinda Do you have a write up on removing the spring in the pedals? That seems like an amazing fix for the trim issue in BS as well. Since pedals annoyingly do not hold the trim when released.

I like the pop up check lists. Great idea. Could use one for JTAC for sure.

Try to stay lower than the HIND. Easier to spot him from below. Still not sure how you keep losing him. How long are you out of sight before you start looking around for him?

Which would those be? F15 and F16 and F18 are anything but interesting. They are typical fighters that have been well simulated many times. -
The cockpit does look pretty amazing. I just hope it has the detail in the FM and damage modeling as well.
-
There is a crysis mod mechwarrior also. Only a MP mod, but is decent fun. More like just a FPS with mechsuits, but you are still clomping about in a mech.

DCS will not be doing an F86 I agree. But, they can do a AH-64D for the military and downgrade a few systems for a Civilian sim version. Do you think the Army is using the same A10 we are? Really doubt they are training on the lightning II pod since I am pretty sure they are not equipped any more.
