  1. I tried this once and don't see any performance gain at all, it seemed to be no better but with all the hassle of setting it up so I gave up. Perhaps I should have persevered, it will be interesting to see how you get on with it though.
  2. I don't have a problem with using the keyboard now, I use a HOTAS and thrustmaster MFDs for most things, I have small rubber grommets stuck on certain keys like F1&F5 for instance and one on the enter key and a few more. I can find my way around then, this seems to work well for me. I think if your using a HOTAS, Touch wouldn't help much, I also use a track ball instead of the mouse but only have to put my hand on that it stays in the same place all the time, I think that picking up the touch controller and putting it down then trying to find it again would be a bit of a pain but that's my opinion
  3. i 'm glad you have the computer spec to allow you to use your mirrors my FPS take a dive if I try to use mine
  4. Since the new update to DCS world 2 the sound in the cockpit are now different! I can now hear wind affects I don't hear before. Is this new or has something just changed on my setup that allows me to hear sounds I hadn't heard before. Also is there any way to disable it as I don't like it!!!
  5. If I’m understanding you right and you’re getting this in normal view I stand by my comment before it’s not normal, you need to have a go with another rift to check but I think yours is faulty
  6. If you’ve been checking out the forum for info you know that it’s not cut and dry where DCS is concerned, it all depends on the area you fly in, what map you’re using, what aircraft you fly, what settings etc, etc. In 1.5 for instance I fly from Beslan or mozdok and add targets and other friendly units wisely, I always fly on a clear day, build my own missions (I don’t fly pre-set missions) and keep away from areas built up around the black sea like Batumi and Kobulet for instance (these areas are the worst for me). This may seem boring but with some careful planning I get some jaw dropping experiences. With your spec you should get the same, if you’re expecting to fly from anywhere on the map with lots going on then that’s not going to happen in VR, not in my experience anyways. You could be having problems with drivers, for example I use 369.05 NVidia drivers they're the best for me at the moment, other up to date drivers give me lots of grief, windows updates also cause problems. I don’t worry about FPS just whether I get a smooth performance, I have most settings to high, I have flat shadows only and HDR off, pixel density 1.
  7. I can understand that you may get distortion when using zoom and moving your head around, your only meant to use zoom to check instruments or a quick look at an area outside to spot targets etc , not use it all the time!! I thought you were getting this problem when in normal view as your first post suggests, that's why i said it wasn't normal.
  8. Open file explorer, go to this pc, C: drive, user, your name, saved games, DCS whatever, config, open opsions.lua, with notepad ++, when open under vr you can change the pixel density to 1, and save. Or change the enable option to false and save, next time you run DCS it will start in monitor mode, then change the pixel density to a lower setting. Or you can just delete the opsions, lua file, next time you run DCS it will create a new file with default settings
  9. Sorry but I don’t understand this explanation you’ve received otherwise lots of others would be having the same problem, it sounds to me that your CV1 needs returning for a replacement or at least see if you can try someone else’s
  10. It’s slowly got a bit better for me! But I think I know what you mean, I struggled with DCS 2 and even uninstalled it at one point always going back to Caucasus, but I tried it again lately and found it not to bad now, and I don’t think it’s been updated in the last few weeks either, I do find that Nvidia drivers give me most problems that’s with 1.5 and 2 so you could start there, I am using 368.81 drivers at the moment, also windows updates cause problems two. It may be a pain but sometimes uninstalling DCS 2 completely and reinstall helps. But I have found it impossible to get a stable performance for long because they keep updating graphics, DCS World and windows, I just seem to get it where I’m happy and then it goes pair shaped.
  11. Is this in 1.5 or 2 your seeing this? I don't have problems spotting tracer from any direction TBO but I fly in an older version of 1.5, if I fly in 1.5 Beta I don't seem to get any flame from missile's but I haven't noticed the tracer so it could be related. I don't know if this is a bug though because I use the old version of 1.5 and have very old Nvidia drivers in order to get it to run smoothly so not having flames from missile's is probably my fault
  12. This is not normal, I don’t have any problems with tracking; it’s perfect for me when moving my head around. Do you have a problem with other software/games?
  13. It's interesting how people are getting different results with ASW enabled, I only get problems if my frames drop below 45fps when enabled, which would cause problems whether it was enabled or not. I do find it has got worse since I first started using it, I used to have high shadows and HDR enabled without issues but can only run shadows on flat and HDR off now. I do think drivers and updates cause most issues though, with Windows, oculus, and DCS continually being updated and nvidia drivers changing every week or so it's almost impossible to keep it stable for long.
  14. I agree, it's not perfect but I find it keeps thing smooth for me when left on, if you can maintain 90fps you don't need it but if you want it looking good with high settings I don't think meny can maintain 90fps. If I turn it off with my settings I get ghosting and judder when turning sharply over built up areas, don't get any of that with it on
  15. Hi as the title says how do you assign a HOTAS button as a mouse click?
  16. I had a similar experience last night don't know if it's related, I'd been using my Xbox controller before DCS and hadn't turned it off. I was coming into land in the M2000 when my drag shoot deployed for no reason, I then got the usb disconnection sound and a message saying the Xbox controller had disconnected, it had turned itself off as I wasn't using it. It seems strange that the Xbox controller turning off would cause the drag shoot to deploy! Maybe related to what your experiencing
  17. The preload is preloading scenery to your memory I think, as you have 16gig I would have thought you could have that at full but you have proved that's not the case, I have 32gig and have preload at full. Over clocking your CPU will always help so you've done the right thing there as long as you keep it cool. I wouldn't have the visual setting at ultra! I can't see any difference between medium and ultra visually but it will eat up FPS on ultra, I have mine set at medium. I use stairway mod and don't notice any difference in FPS, but if it has a small affect the difference in visuals is well worth it. You didn't say whether or not you had a SSD drive? This has a big affect on loading times, it makes a big difference in DCS
  18. Looking at your settings I would turn down your visibility to medium, and turn off HDR, this shouldn't cause the loading pause though. Are you using a SSD hard drive? If not that would help.
  19. I think it's different for most people, I find the Gazelle better optimised than the Ka50 on my setup!!
  20. I don't know of any module that gives a rear view from inside the cockpit! Although most have their own view. The Gazelle has a view from the front or the aircraft looking back, the M2000 has a view behind the right hand wing looking forward, the same with the F5, the A10 has a view from the back of the cockpit looking to the rear witch I think is the one your referring to along with the Ka50 and all the flying cliffs 3 aircraft

    Trees Shadows

That mod dose work i use it all the time, it gives you better FPS and a smother ride when flying over wooded areas https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2495081 extract all files to C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains\CaucasusBase\Structures\High\E DM Make a copy of this folder first just in case Edit:- Having said this it only turns off the shadows to the large wooded areas not all trees!!
  22. Glad to be of help, I also use the no tree shadow mod https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2495081&postcount=7 If you're using the Black Sea map this seems to work quite well at increasing FPS My rig is similar to yours and I run things a lot higher than you, although I do build my own missions and stay away from the heavily populated areas.
  23. Are you using the latest drivers for you GPU? I'm using version 368.69 at the moment, anything higher causes performance issues. Nvidia drivers, DCS and Oculus updates all have caused performance issues for me in the last few months.
  24. Stll have trees missing at Beslan airfield after the latest update, have cleared out all files from ED folder and from my saved games folder then reinstalled, if you don't fly from there much you probably won't notice. I would try and post screen shots if someone can tell me how to do that.
  25. If you're using the 1.5 Beta and trying to fly the Gazelle, it's not working at the moment so you will only get to watch the AI fly it for you. If not then razo+r has the answer
