Great to see they added Realsimulator to the list. I’m also tempting to get the F35 throttle.

Any Fix for Looseness/Play Between Grip Handle and Connector Shaft?

I was late on this as I already repaired mine by applying alittle bit of JB Weld epoxy which is working very well with my New Virpil CM2 base. I love the idea but some have said there is still alittle bit of play with this anti bracket. I still may order one though and go from there but my epoxy repair s solid after 20hrs + of use. -
Great question as I was gonna ask the same thing. Im using the TM Warthog Hotas but I just upgrade the stick base to a Virpil CM2 base and using the TM warthog /viper grip. I preordered the Apache the other day and was wondering the same, using the TM Throttle with it. I also have the Huey that I have not spent any time with so I’m glad to hear this setup will work. I don’t have the room for that fancy Virpil Collective although it’s a beauty and knowing now Virpil’s built quality is fantastic!!!!

No I didn’t open the grip I just tighten the 2 bolts at the base which didn’t help. This epoxy works very well. That anti bracket would of been nice too. Thanks for sharing that I may get one just in case.

I use the Realsimulator R3L base and Viper stick setup for the Viper. I just setup my CM2 base with the Thrustmaster Viper grip and first flew the Viper with the Standard cams and springs tighten down and it felt really nice. I would say with my limited experience with the CM2 and changing to the stiff springs would be really a great feel but it’s not gonna compare to the force sensing RS R3L base … but I would say it would be pretty damn close.

Last night I put some JB Weld epoxy were the grip and shaft meet and let it cure over night and it seems that it did the trick. It’s funny how that very little bit of movement at that spot made me think I got a bad CM2 base… but no it’s my 2 year old TM stick. I retested it and it’s gtg nice and smooth and clunk-clunk.

I may go that route alittle later. I,m looking at this one. VPC Constellation ALPHA-R

Well, I put alittle bit of JB Weld around the base of the handle were the shaft meet last night. That did the trick and the CM2 and TM viper grip are smooth and silent. TM Viper/Warthog stick is 2 years old and from what I gathered it’s the weak spot of the TM grips even the F/A-18 Hornet. Grip.

Yes it was the forward and sometimes the aft on the Weapon Select Switch. I thought maybe it’s just new and the switch needs to be used alittle but I just couldn’t live with it so I returned it. Maybe next time I will get one straight from Thrustmaster Eshop but again that’s no guarantee either… bad switches are bad switches.

Thanks Mark, I just got it mounted and feels pretty good with no extension.

Thanks BigNewy ! I’m kinda thinking now that its my TM warthog viper grip now as it has alittle play at the base even when tightening the 2 screws. I may have to either get a new one or come up with a repair option. Thanks !

Just mounted the CM2 to check tension and noticed a clunk sound aft at 7-6 o’clock is this normal for these bases?
-
Okay thanks for your reply. I kind of don't want to start a new thread but does this CM2 base suppose to have clunking noise when pull back alittle ?

Thanks Don !

Thank you! I just want what’s easy and trouble free ! I heard nightmares I don’t want to get into. thanks for replying as I didn’t think this was a dumb question to ask.

Yeah I’m alittle confused on what version to use. I bought the Virpil CM2 for it’s built quality the most and I will not be doing any fancy/advance programming with it and only fly jets, mostly BFM. I went to the Virpil forum and seems there was a few issues with the newest one or maybe in its beta form and it was for Advance users which I am not ! I just use basic DCS bindings. Version 20210102 Patch Rotor Plus is the newest one, is that one for helos and jets/advance version. or should I go for Version 20201118 Thanks

Good luck on the F/A-18 grip with the weapon control switch not returning to center. I just returned my second one to an Amazon dealer. But for that price that’s pretty good. Also beware that if you do return to Amazon for full refund we’ll you really don’t get the full refund because I had to eat the tax amount and it was t like 40ish bucks. Good Luck !

Good tips as I’m getting ready to change over TM to CM2 base w/TM viper grip. Is the standard springs kinda stuff and standard cams ? I’ll be setting it up this weekend and would be a step ahead to change the cams and springs out before I install to mount. I should of said I will mostly fly the Hornet and Tomcat with this base and a few others jet actually.

Thrustmaster gave me their eshop site. If I chose to try this again it will be straight from Thrustmaster, although yes it’s still not a guaranteed 100% working product but still. I got my Amazon refund back but still had to eat the taxes like $40ish bucks. https://eshop.thrustmaster.com/ The price is we’re it’s suppose to be.
