Is ED letting down their VR customers?? Yes I'm venting!
Burt replied to RackMonkey's topic in Virtual Reality
Having the G2 plugged into a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C with data transfer speeds of 10Gbps is also the ticket along with the new hardware. -
The power switch has to be pressed down for about 3 seconds to shutdown. I really like that power on/off button ! Also like having a backup cable just in case.

Auto update maybe ? Find those 2 in services and maybe shut it down/ disable then retest. Having a prebuilt system I had to disable several services.

Your Welcome

I run high settings in 2D and almost everything in VR with my 3090 no probs.

I’m going 2 years with the Warthog and I must of got lucky and got a good one / good QA because I actually love it for the Hornet and Tomcat. If you like the Viper you may want to put RealSimulator on your list it’s a force sensing stick with a very good program. The R3L base and the F16 stick I have setup as a side stick for the Viper kinda like the real deal. Just check it out he’s the link https://realsimulator.com/ other than that I have no experience with any other brand but I’m glad I got the TM warthog as my very first Hotas. It really is a good product. but honestly I have been looking at the Virpil design and I can see how everyone likes it. The cams and the springs look amazing. I’m sure it’s a great product too.

Have you tried opening up Task Manager while VR and DCS is running and see what maybe turning on when its not suppose to be...like maybe Auto updates/services of a program or 2. Also maybe it could be your internet connection bogging out somehow, maybe hard reboot if your on a router and possibly do a internet connection test. I'm not a pro at all this but its worth trying. Something may be interfering when playing in VR. My internet connection is in New Orleans, LA from Floirda and with the hurricane last weekend there in N O ... is was terrible the whole weekend, Yesterday was smooth Flying. I think people are missing that the internet connection quality play a big part too. For example last weekend I was getting like 450-520 Mbps Download and upload was terrible too. Yesterday I was getting 935ish Mbps Download and 23ish upload. -

My VR experience is as good as it gets right now. I don’t worry about fps and fpsvr monitoring. Way better than my last rig which was a -i7-9700K and a 2080Super its like night and day difference. -
Yeah you got a bad one. I know shutting it off you gotta hold down for 3 seconds. At least they’re sending another one. did you try another outlet ?

I have 3 MSFF2 red button sticks from my Novalogic days. I just asked that question to the other day too.
-
Cockpit limitations really makes no sense to me. Realistically are they gonna make a stopping point and a knock sound ? I’d say move on to bigger and better things. It’s good as is.
-
Same here Don, it takes a lot of movement but I do like popping the F18 hornet canopy off when dogfighting sometimes and the sounds when merging and the other jet sounds are really cool.

It’s true it’s about the hardware. I heard about all the great updates that was coming down the rail from E D about 10 months ago and I was on a i9-9700K @4.5ghz and a rtx2080 Super running mid setting with the G2. Looked like scotch tape on the lense could find the clarity. When I upgraded to an i9-10900K @4.9-5.0 ghz and a 3090 made a world of deference honestly. I’m now running high settings in both game and steamvr “ with speed of heats guide” the clarity has now settled in. Also vroptician lenses made a big change too. The clouds was the only disappointment. But I can live with it. If possible get a 3090 and let her rip.

My experience with force feedback in DCS
Burt replied to Braeden108's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Many years ago I use to play Novalogic games like the Mig29 Fulcrum and F16- F22 Lightning 3 and my favorite Comanche Gold, those were some fun days. I looked in one of my closets the other and forgot had 3 MSFF2 sticks. Those were the best sticks for these games back then. I was wanting to use one for maybe flying helicopters or maybe the Apache when it comes out. When I first started DCS April 2020 I used the msfs2 and was amazed the it worked with DCS. I have always loved that stick with the arcade flying games. Do these stick have any value to them these days! -
In the G2 box there is paperwork that came with the product there is a sheet with several support numbers. May have to call one of them to get to your region.

Oh great well that kinda good to know. Yes the pedals are centered thats what throws me off. I will do some test alittle later and maybe try a few different jets. I mean I can live with it and its all good in the air I just wanted to make sure the pedals are okay and/or recalibrate them. Thanks !
-
I just got some new rudder pedals, Thrustmaster TPR's and not quit sure if the TPR pedals are out of calibration. So I'm on the runway and rolling along and noticed the jet veers to the right and I'm having the left tap the brakes alittle to stay center. Is the normal for the Hornet or you think I may have to recalibrate the pedals. Now in the air the rudders are Left-0 Rt- 0. Its noticeable after landing.

I came straight to the last page on your post to give my honest opinion. I mainly BFM-Dogfight and I must say that the Tomcat is one of the best in DCS. I switch between the Hornet and the Tomcat frequently. Once you have put the time in with the Tomcat you will definitely enjoy it. But hard to say which one I like the best really... I love them both.
-
Way better than the Discovery Channel for sure !

I have no probs in 2d but it needs work for VR. It’s not unplayable in VR but would love to see and feel it run like The Caucus Map-Persian Gulf. It’s a beautiful Map tho!

Performance hit after last Wednesday's beta update?
Burt replied to Hartsblade's topic in Virtual Reality
Just a question are you running monitoring software in the background? I use to run msi-afterburner-fpsvr and steam while running the DCS. I noticed a big improvement with my rig when just starting DCS , everything’s loads automatic. steamvr beta-wmr and then dcs. I don’t know what changed or maybe I was doing all wrong but I have been starting DCS like for a couple of months now and it just runs so smooth. As I said I don’t have any monitoring software running in the background only when an update comes out I will run Steam and fpsvr to check the graph and numbers. -

Smooth sailing on my rig. Also running the new nvidia driver too. I do see a few graphic bugs here and there. But no spiking going on with fpsvr which I always run after updates but don’t really use it anymore being that my tweaking is finally done.
