  1. ED strikes again! Thanks for the investigative work @Devil 505; the VSN guys sound on it so hopefully we'll see normality* restored soon. Nolite te bastardes carborundorum! *Whatever that even means nowadays
  2. Bleddy glorious images! 'grats on the dissertation, and well done for giving things their proper priority. Glad hear you looking forward to some quality Lanc time, that's the best way to do it!
  3. Not at all - thank you for sharing the fruits of your labours with us all! I just hadn't come across them before, remembered the use of the static SH-3, and they're types I find very evocative for setting the time and place so just wanted to check everyone knew about them. I'm also away with work and can't download and check them out for myself, so was curious as to what they're like! Cheers for all, and the great comms - keep up the good work
  4. I've just been having a quick layman's read of https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/dcs/modding/jester/lua_api.html - Heatblur's opening up of Jester to the community. Not seen anything about it here, so thought I kick us off with a couple of queries: This opens up Jester-like AI crew for other aircraft, not just editing options for HB multicrew modules? This means we could have things like interactive checklists with a Jester co-pilot; or ground/hazard callouts from a Jester crew chief? This is all really exciting?! Thoughts?
  5. Has anyone had a go with any of @Hawkeye60's whirlybirds? Was just wondering about their usefullness as ITJ assets... Edit: Just seen there's an OV-1 and an A-37 too, for fixed wing vibes
  6. Heatblur releasing SDK for Jester AI (IIUC?) seems like it might be an even bigger deal than anything ED might realistically do...
  7. Just a very quick test in singleplayer...but OMFG. This. Is. Awesome! Looks soooo good, intuitive to use with controls bound to HOTAS, and a great help to spotting Charlie when set to AUTO. @tobi's a genius! Why had I never used this before?! Ditto! Trying to ween myself off the super-heavy Attack Loach approach now I've been doing my flying on the Spooky ITJ public server. I love how much the Loach's behaviour changes with weight
  8. Ah, yeah, sorry - I should've said all the above was based on a couple hours over the last three nights flying in Voodoo's server
  9. Just moving the convo here as a better home... ...before sticking my oar in All the above sounds awesome, it really does, and I'm amazed at how much effort you guys are all willing to put in to keep developing 'your baby' for public servers. Thank you, truly. Also, this is on the back of much less time 'in country' than most of y'all, so do take with a pinch of salt, and obvs just my personal opinion and I'm probs not representative of the target market. That all said, three thoughts I'm really hopeful that the adidtion of the Cobra will not so much reduce challenge, but support specialisation. At the moment we see a lot of eg Loaches pretending to be Little Birds; armed to the teeth and on the prowl*. This is great fun obviously, but not ideal in an MP environment. Likewise Bronco's shifting more to a scout/FAC role for fast-movers. More teamwork = more fun, and it takes longer! It'd be lovely to see the Loach drivers focusing on scouting, working with the Cobra guys to seek and destroy those cheeky smaller groups hiding in the trees. Whilst the fixed wing brigade can hit Bunker and Alpha hills, and those larger groups out in the open etc. This would take a bit of co-ordination/group buy-in, but again would server to slow things down a bit whilst increasing investment in the action. Anything which can be done to support this kind of role specialisation for the different aircraft seems to me a good thing. There are community module options for every role, so it's not like anyone would be locked out of a certain kind of gameplay, it's just a way to encourage what Shack Tactical would call Serious Fun! *But how good is it having the door gunners up and running in the sever?! Looks cool, sounds cool, feels cool - is cool! Add the port-side minigun and it's totally changed the way I approach the Loach and ITJ. Very very good fun. The extra events/scripts etc are gonna add loads to the play value overall, but a bit like the first point, might benefit from a bit of player buy-in. I fly ITJ in OH-6, OV-10 and A4 because I don't have any of the included paid modules, and initially thought 'well, bombers are awesome, but I haven't got an A2A option'...but of course the A4 has Sidewinders, and can be a potent little dogfighter! I just needed to remind myself, and might need a nudge of some kind about the importance of downing those bombers. The voice cues for events really add a lot. They must be a ton of work to record, clean up and implement, but radio calls for air defense etc might be a good way to get people to hop out of of the Bronco and into a Phantom! This and the other developments y'all are talking about sound super cool. Not sure when I'll be able to try them out, but I'm looking forward to it! Challenge/mission longevity can be ramped up in all sorts of ways - it's much harder to find targets in the dark, for example, or in thick foliage and steep valleys... Every time I've been around at sever start I've thought a) 'blow me this looks really cool!' and then b) 'Next time I must use the Loach to go spotlighting!' but I never do because within a few minutes it's starting to get light enough to see and the mission just rolls on. Maybe starting the mission c.30 mins earlier might give us a go with this experience* I'm already getting some of this in the morning fog - without someone low'n'slow to spot and mark targets, it's difficult to make effective use of weapons - and loving it *There are also some memorable sections - maybe in Chickenhawk rather than Low Level Hell, so Huey rather than Loach - about using this technique to interdict smugglers on the Delta waterways which would make for good inspiration. Which is all just to say - 'grats on everything so far team ITJ and sever-peeps, and remember to keep having fun with it all yourselves too. You're awesome! (NB the unarmed Loach...!) EDIT: Couldn't help myself: this will be the last chance I get for a little while, so was able to steal a couple hours' flying. Glorious as ever, and the misty weather worked a treat for slowing things down. Towards the end of my time was a period of hunting, marking and calling in a supporting A4 (good work Just Chuck!) on single trucks to finish off groups. Dunno about anyone else, but I had a great time and it was great to use each aircraft to its strengths. Third time using SRS, pretty happy that it's all up and running now. If anyone's wondering about trying it out...do it Slipper 1 out.
  10. A bit OT, but might be of interest here - not least as a potential promo route for when @Cam1McH gets to that stage...
  11. Just been playing the great Into the Jungle mission on @SPOOKY 1-1's public server (which I'm sure we've all come across, but is really worth checking out if not). Great fun as-is, but the AH-1G is going to be a game changer! Rolling in the OH-6A with a Huey gunship for support is cool, but looking forward to that extra firepower...
  12. Nice! If there was a download link, I'd use it...
  13. Curious - to what? Best I can see is to have no expectations on someone else's labour of love, gift wrapped and popped into our downloads folder at no charge, giving a near-endless supply of enjoyment...that way it's a nice surprise
  14. Well, what you've done to date worked for me! Loach and Bronco up on comms without a hitch once I sorted some volume levels between DCS and SRS. Looking forward to the update to improve my settings. Thoroughly enjoyable first time, thanks y'all for being gentle! PS. Finally got that Bronco sight dialed in by the end PPS. 'kin awesome seeing all those Loaches with gunners hanging out the side, planting freedom seeds left and right.
  15. Just waiting to hop back in the updated server - the service round here just keeps getting better! Will be giving SRS a go, if anyone hears a confused-sounding Brit, all advice/corrections etc welcome
  16. Nailed it first time: no. No object or sensor export; yes to player export. IIUC, enabling object export is just a tick-box for the server? Hopefully that's something which can be looked at - not only is the door gunner cool as anything to look at, he's also bloody useful! Thanks
  17. What's the score with the 'new' DCS integrated VOIP? Just done a quick bit of testing: low frames around Antonio unrelated to the mission - now running well both SP and MP OH-6A gunners working as expected in SP; no joy in MP
  18. Thanks @Mistermann! The frustration was because I know these things do work (radios and gunners!), I just couldn't get them to last night. No biggy, it'll be user error so I'll check out the vid again and make sure I'm not missing a trick... Forza ITJ!
  19. Well that was fun! Loaded up the new version - all seemed pretty groovy, but frames around Antonio were unflyably low. Might've been my comp having a freak out rather than a mission issue, will have another look tomorrow. Loaded into the server - very very cool. Frustrated a bit by lack of comms (a me problem; SRS set up but probs no good in the OH-6 (?), yet to join the Discord if that's what people are using for chat), non-functional gunners in the Loach (M60 and Minigun*) and rusty skills...but very fun to go charging about the place in company Watching Gunship Huey pairs roll in hot was something of an education - they're beasts! Marking for Broncos is great, as is the sound of the fast movers ripping it up overhead. Really cool. *They load in fine, but I couldn't persuade them to track or fire for love nor money. Needed the AI eagle eyes to track down the last remaining target on the map - did you find it in the end @SPOOKY 1-1?! Anyway, continued thanks to all, for all. Hopefully a bit more tomorrow
  20. Only just downloaded 2.011! Better get some flying in this eve...! Updates sound like good solid progress for the environment, nicely done, and the flak is frikk'n terrifying in the vids!
  21. "Two weeks, be sure." - Oleg Maddox. Spoiler alert: It wasn't two weeks, but it was worth the wait.
  22. Well that's an exciting collab! She looks 'kin awesome, and it's super cool seeing you guys working closely together as the mod hits the final furlong. Been tight on time recently (defs not impacted by KCD2...!) but really looking forward to getting back Into the Jungle. Keep it up
