Mission Editor save / auto save option bug / updated
AlpineGTA replied to RWC's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
I'm having the same issue when loading a multi-player server track file, enabling external views and then hitting save. I used to know when it had finished saving because the save menu would disappear after a while, after it had finished saving and I knew it was then safe to exit. But now the menu disappears straight away and when I click exit I see the same unsaved edits menu that you are seeing. When I check the track listings in windows file explorer the track file is still listed but the memory size is zero, so the track is lost. -
How about a less expensive, battery-less PCVR only version, that would make a great potential upgrade/replacement path for Reverb G2 owners? For me, with a battery headset, it's not about how long the battery charge lasts or whether you can keep it charged with a cable whilst you use it, but the hassle/inconvenience of keeping it charged and making sure you have enough charge before each use. I like to be able to just switch on my headset with my PC and not have to worry about that. As a G2 user, the only upgrade paths at the moment, that are most appealing, are either the Quest 3 or Crystal, both of which use batteries and since the Quest 3 is significantly less expensive, that, to me, seems the more obvious choice. However, a battery-less Crystal (perhaps an even simpler, less expensive version without DFR, with pancake lenses and 60Hz/72Hz modes) could sway that... That's just my personal view and suggestion.

Yes, agreed, that's what I like about VKB, how customisable they are, the build quality and how they are designed for self maintenance and customisation. I'd like to eventually get the Gunfighter IV base and the Modern Combat Ultimate grip. And eventually add the F-14 and WWII grips! I'm glad you're liking your setup with the SEM-V, I think it works really well for flaps and landing gear. The only reason I want to move the position of my STEM is because I have a slightly dicky left shoulder and reaching back a bit to operate the switches behind the throttle is a bit uncomfortable. I'd prefer to keep the SEM-V in front of the throttle if I could and have the STEM on a right MFH. Can I ask what changes you made to your flaps and gear lever. Did you remove the detents, or add extra ones?

Yes, I'll post new pictures once I have it set up. It might be a while though, they're about to enter the Chinese New Year, so I fear shipping my order might be delayed.

By default the VKB STECS throttle axis are mapping to the joystick axis instead of the throttle ones. And when they are mapped to the the throttles the axis are inverted.
-
I've actually just ordered an ATEM module to convert my STECS into a Max. My original plan was to keep the SEM-V and mount the STEM on the right side of my cockpit as a stand-a-alone control panel, but it seems there's no way of doing that without purchasing another SEM module to connect the STEM to. So, for now, I'm going to convert my STECS to a Max and instead move the STEM-V over to the other side and see how I get along with that setup.
-
Hi Gianky, I didn't change the detents on the flap and gear levers, I just left everything default and plugged the SEM-V into the STECS using the supplied Module-to-Module cable. I think then it was just a case of rebooting the STECS and check everything is working in the config software. Good luck.

That's interesting. I'm using MSAA x2 but I'm still seeing the sparkly texture. I wonder if there's some other setting you're using that those that are seeing it aren't?
-
Are you using any kind of upscaling? I've noticed it's much less obvious if you have upscaling enabled, but I don't use it myself, I don't like it.
-
I have a STECS Standard paired with a SEM-V, but I'm thinking of purchasing a STECS ATEM module and swapping that out for the STEM module on the throttle. I would then like to use the STEM mounted to a MFH on my right hand side, to act as a control panel to compliment the throttle. Would I have to purchase another SEM with a USB controller and connect the STEM to that? Would that work? An alternative idea; instead of purchasing another SEM, I have a Gladiator K joystick mounted on my right. Is it possible to connect the STEM to that using the SYS port?

The control bindings in the controls seem to be reversed. I've bound a button for up and one for down, but when I press the down button the seat goes up and when I press the up button the seat goes down.
-
I have buttons bound in the options for the seat height adjustment up and down and when I press them the switch is animated backwards and forwards in the cockpit, but the seat doesn't move.

First In, Last Out! F-4E Wild Weasel Trailer and Manual release!
AlpineGTA replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Will the pilot models really have blinking eyes, or was that added for cinematic effect? If so, that's a crazy level of detail! -
I forget exactly how I set mine up now but it looks like maybe it's something to do with the curve of your second detent (position of the red line). On my afterburner detent the red line is positioned in the middle of the detent and my throttle reads 100 at full afterburner. I can't remember exactly how I did it to describe how I set it up, but maybe these screenshots of mine might help.

Multiplayer Replay Crashes with recent DCS update
AlpineGTA replied to Moe_Viper's topic in Multiplayer
Yes, multiplayer tracks crashing to desktop is an issue a lot of people are having. I haven't seen a solution to it anywhere yet. There are a couple of threads about it in the Crash section here: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/482-game-crash/- 14 replies

The track file I have was too large to upload, but looking at this similar thread: I'm guessing a similar thing is happening, it's related to some script information missing from the server, since single player tracks work perfectly fine. So maybe the issue is on the server hosts side.

VKB MCG and STECs default axis bindings (and changing them)
AlpineGTA replied to Avimimus's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Yes, the STECs throttle makes some odd default bindings. I just have to go to each binding, cancel them and reassign them manually. It's a bit of a pain. I don't know if it's VKB issue, the throttle not sending the correct signals to DCS, or, with it being a relatively new throttle, if it's a DCS issue and them not assigning the default axis properly. -
I'm not sure, I fly on ECW server, if they run scripts? I'm guessing they do. But until recently, I used to be able to watch back my ECW tracks immediately after flying. I'm guessing since the last OB update but I can't say for certain. I know the issue has been affecting some youtube content creators as well. I'm not home at the moment but I can update my last track file and log later if it helps.

Hi BIGNEWY, I'm talking about new replays made immediately before.
-
Yes, I've noticed ships doing this on the South Atlantic map too, so it's not unique to the Syria map.
-
I've tried again with my latest multi-player track file from yesterday on ECW server. Still crashing to desktop. Log file attached. dcs.log
-
Yes, it's the same for me, since the last update DCS just crashes to desktop when attempting to replay a multiplayer track. I was told in the ECW server Discord that it was broken but I can't find any acknowledgement of it on the forum.

How to set up VR for HP Reverb on new install of DCS and windows
AlpineGTA replied to Flameout777's topic in Virtual Reality
This thread might help you. Go to the first page and the second post by mbucchia. It explains how to run OpenXR for various headsets, including the Reverb.
