No personal experience flying with them but if you google "monocular NVG flying" there are instances. Like I said, the vast majority use binocular style. My RL experience is from driving armoured vehicles in Afghanistan when the fish bowl wasn't working. I found depth perception to be a non-issue with them. Using the old style double lense to single tube had shit depth perception..
I'm all for accuracy but like I said, I like the mono too :)
I landed on one in a Gazelle north of Dubai, but proceeded to slide off the side, through all the hull addons and then into the water. Then through the (surprisingly) shallow water (ship was resting on the bottom), through the sea floor and into the black... I assume I was still sinking when I shut down the chopper and opened the door for a swim..
Actually, monocular NVD's are occasionally used, but yes, the majority of pilots use binocular type.
Regardless, I prefer using a monocular as that is what I am used to and there is zero issue flying with one. Personal preference :)
HUD day/night is implemented I believe but the difference is very subtle. MPCD contrast, day/night etc isn't implemented as of 2.5.2 I believe. Not sure of the second question.
I love having a true monocular sight, it's what I'm used to in RL. It would be nice to have the ability to swap sides for those that require it (as in RL too) but don't forget we should have the ability to adjust gain up and down in the AV8B too.
I use a m.2 for my OS and a Mushkin Sata III for my games drive. No issues. DCS loads into the cockpit in less than 10-15 seconds, and when I play PubG, it loads about 20 - 30 seconds before the countdown timer starts, my son on his hybrid HDD takes about 40 seconds longer.
I will never go back to regular HDD's again and am slowly upgrading all my computers to SSD's.
Yeah, I was disappointed reading all the bugs that popped up. Razbam jets are by far my favourite aircraft to fly for fixed wing and just would, like everyone else, to be able to properly use it. It's coming, just have to wait a bit :)
I found that if you try to select the map while the INS is NOT on NAV, the MPCD will go black with no buttons visible. You can still press the MENU button though and get the main screen back.
