  1. No personal experience flying with them but if you google "monocular NVG flying" there are instances. Like I said, the vast majority use binocular style. My RL experience is from driving armoured vehicles in Afghanistan when the fish bowl wasn't working. I found depth perception to be a non-issue with them. Using the old style double lense to single tube had shit depth perception.. I'm all for accuracy but like I said, I like the mono too :)
  2. I landed on one in a Gazelle north of Dubai, but proceeded to slide off the side, through all the hull addons and then into the water. Then through the (surprisingly) shallow water (ship was resting on the bottom), through the sea floor and into the black... I assume I was still sinking when I shut down the chopper and opened the door for a swim..

    What airfield?
  4. Actually, monocular NVD's are occasionally used, but yes, the majority of pilots use binocular type. Regardless, I prefer using a monocular as that is what I am used to and there is zero issue flying with one. Personal preference :)
  5. Yup.. And cranked the world and cockpit volume too :)
  6. HUD day/night is implemented I believe but the difference is very subtle. MPCD contrast, day/night etc isn't implemented as of 2.5.2 I believe. Not sure of the second question.
  7. I love having a true monocular sight, it's what I'm used to in RL. It would be nice to have the ability to swap sides for those that require it (as in RL too) but don't forget we should have the ability to adjust gain up and down in the AV8B too.
  8. I use a m.2 for my OS and a Mushkin Sata III for my games drive. No issues. DCS loads into the cockpit in less than 10-15 seconds, and when I play PubG, it loads about 20 - 30 seconds before the countdown timer starts, my son on his hybrid HDD takes about 40 seconds longer. I will never go back to regular HDD's again and am slowly upgrading all my computers to SSD's.
  9. lol.. It's the Middle East.. they don't exactly work the same way as Western nations do when it comes to ranges and closure areas..
  10. I'd love to see Bahrain added. Spent a year working out of Manama :)
  11. You will be able to fly all aircraft in the gulf AFAIK.
  12. Ha!! The bug has been planted! Thanks BD
  13. What we need is Baltic Dragon to make a AV-8B manual like he did for the Mirage.. Hopefully in time he gets the chance..
  14. Yeah, I was disappointed reading all the bugs that popped up. Razbam jets are by far my favourite aircraft to fly for fixed wing and just would, like everyone else, to be able to properly use it. It's coming, just have to wait a bit :)
  15. Ahh.. I was wondering why the AV-8B was removed from AO servers recently
  16. Hmmmm Seems that test versions etc make it into the release more often than not lately..
  17. Thanks! We'll move up to current version tonight. It's a shame DCS doesn't utilize these textures from the start..
  18. Haven't tested it but yup, my monocular I wore in Afghanistan was the exact same :)
  19. Ok, sounds good, but does the lack of all buttons (ENG, MENU, etc) supposed to happen? If so, then thumbs up!
  20. I found that if you try to select the map while the INS is NOT on NAV, the MPCD will go black with no buttons visible. You can still press the MENU button though and get the main screen back.
  21. Yes, it works perfectly when you replace them in the proper place.
  22. Sorry about that..I'm not at home right now or would post a screenie.. In the ME, when you place an asset, you have the symbol buttons that are for flight planning, load-out, waypoint action, radio freq's and failures (more or less depending on airframe). If you set the KC-130 up for "Tanker" and "Activate TACAN" via the 2nd button (waypoint options) and change from TACAN 1X to anything else, it does not actually change the TACAN frequency leaving it on 1X. Below this on the very bottom you have the tab button that is labeled "(Advanced) Waypoint Actions". When you drop a KC-130 on the map, the "Tanker" and "Activate TACAN" are automatically populated in this area, with the default 1X for TACAN. from what I see, and the issue that I was having was that I was adding and adjusting the options via the top symbol button, but it was getting over-ridden by the bottom "(Advanced) Waypoint Actions" tab, so when I set it to 16X above, it defaulted to 1X below, and only read that information. Hence, nothing ingame for 16X, but received signal for 1X. If I adjusted settings on the bottom section only, all changes were reflected in game and everything worked. Really hope this explains this better....
