I have myself moved from desktop to laptop. I have an MSI GP66 with a 3070 Ti. Upgraded with 4 TB storage split over two SSDs (970 and 980 pro) and 64 Gb RAM. I also use a forced air cooling pad to help with temps. When at home I have it hooked up to a 28” curved MSI screen and utilized a powered USB hub for keyboard, HOTAS, rudders etc.. I have zero issues running DCS in VR (Quest 2) on it, especially now with multi-threading, with most, if not all options on high. As for price, my model was less than your budget ($3000 CAD) so you could go with better specs, but unlike most who would say it can’t or shouldn’t be done, I’ve had no issues and am very happy with it.

Lol.. I know, was being facetious.. just excited to get this in the sky!

Been more than two weeks, unless this was the usual “two weeks” joke…. Really excited for this to drop, always loved that bird!

Have it on mine too. 3070Ti GPU. Turn it off and zero issues. Everything else is near maxed out and running great with MT.

F/A-18C HORNET pit V1.8 & F/A-18C HORNET cleanpit
Spetz replied to Bummer's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks! For some reason I never saw this mod before. Will install once I’m back from work. Cheers! -
Just to confirm.. this is optional? I’m getting 40 fps with my Quest 2 right now using OTT and don’t want to mess with it..

Loving it once again. The original BS was my favourite for a long time, then I switched to the Hornet on release and barely flew BS2. With BS3 out, I’ve probably logged 15 hours in it since release and love it. Flying it again seems so natural and all the old skills came back pretty quick. I find it a very easily controlled airframe as long as you know the AP modes and trim well. Just need some dedicated BS3 campaigns to be produced and I’m set.

Thank you! And Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the guide! Fast question.. the helipad on page 212.. what map and location is this? Looks interesting..

Will old BS2 campaigns be converted to BS3?
Spetz replied to BalticDude's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I edited the Deployment campaign and all the single Ka50 msn’s.. takes about 1 minute per mission. Simply open msn, select all units button, then helo, find the Ka50 and make it Ka50 III. You do have to select a new load out as per the msn description as switching helo leaves them empty. And with the new clouds, it defaults all static wx to no clouds so I selected clouds based on the wx entered. Dynamic remains the same. Saved into my missions folder. Works fine. -
Apache is shelved for me for now. I get close to a solid 40 FPS in VR with all other aircraft, with my quest 2 at 80hz, 1.1 PD. Apache, for some reason starts about 25 FPS and progressively drops.

Quest 2 - Significant FPS increase with Oculus Debug Tool
Spetz replied to MilesD's topic in Virtual Reality
I managed to get my FPS back up to about 35-38 now without using OTT on 2.8, but will give this a shot with my Q2 set on 90hz and see what happens. Cheers! -
I have a Quest 2 and my recentre button (num 5) works fine from the 2.8 install. I would delete your Config folder and restart the game. Let DCS build a new one including all your input files.

I DL'd the profile inspector from the 1st post and changed the default profile after hitting the magnifying glass to open all options. I changed the below to what he showed in the video. Super easy. These are the 5 changes (stolen from another post) 1. RHWLessAtScreen choose xxxxxxxxxVRdirectx 2. StereoConvergence choose xxxxxxxxVRdirectx 3. StereoCutoff, highlight (select) entire line so it is blue, then hit HOME button to move far left and edit the number so it shows 0x0000000 4. StereoProfile choose Yes 5. StereoTextureEnable, highlight (select) entire line so it is blue, then hit HOME button to move far left and edit the number so it shows 0x0000000 Ensure you hit Apply Changes on top right after making the changes.

Thanks for this! Working just fine on Quest 2 with the modified Global profile. I only use VR in DCS and ED. Going to check to see if it makes a difference in ED right now.. Nice bump in depth for me. Most noticeable flying the Mirage, but only tried the F-16 and F-18 as well so far. Looking to the right past the refuel probe into the distance, really makes the new settings show.

I got the forced Quest 2 ver38 update, and now my link cable/airlink ability is completely gone.. I select the option to use link cable (or airlink, doesn't matter), I get the black screen and three white dots as it used to to while loading my PC's desktop, then it dumps me back into home. Nothing I've done has fixed this.. Reinstall Oculus home, multiple restarts, that crappy automated Oculus help chat, swapped cables.. Nothing.. So obviously no ability to get into and do any flying with DCS as I can't get to virtual desktop anymore. I'm not running anything through steam. Anyone else have this issue? Ran absolutely perfect the day before the update. pissing me off... *** edit. Fixed. reinstalled PC app again (three times), but then lost audio for the headset. Used the OculusCodec.exe or something like that in the diagnosis folder and sorted that out. Never had an issue with their updates before, weird..

It’s happens to me too. On Syria map, no mods, in VR, start in the Hornet with 45 FPS, switch slot to Viper, FPS down to 24ish, then switch to anything else, FPS tanks to about 8. Sometimes exiting that mission and loading up something in the Caucasus brings it back, but more often than not, have to fully exit the game and get back in.

Thanks, but as soon as I change any field, I get field errors. using it with MS Excel. Changed the temp to 25 in this instance..

OK, so finally figured out the combination to defeat the night issues since last OB update, this mod and Kegetys. Install went fine, can open using LSHFT+F7, cycle all the menus and save/close.. But I don't see any change in game .. Been trying out using the AV-8B and F18 specifically. The AV-8B NVG are now the single monocle, so I guess that is a change, but I can't adjust size, convergence or anything, and no other menu seems to affect anything in game.. No other effects are seen either when adjusting any of the menu's. All options in settings are as required per install instructions, and flying VR exclusively. Using Kegetys Clear water and your newest file. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Spetz replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I'm getting errors now too with the hotfix on the new build. Install was de-modded, cleaned, slow repaired and now I'm getting this. Loads just fine without VR Shaders installed via OvGME. Really too bad as this mod was what brought me back into flying after a couple year absence.. -
Heavy stutters in Syria after recent updates
Spetz replied to Spetz's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Sorry, should have mentioned. Yes, I have done that already. GPU drivers are 471.11, installed via DDU in safe mode. I’m going to remove the Hind from my products and see if it changes anything with Syria. EDIT** So brain farted.. I didn't rename/delete my saved games folder as one of the potential fixes. Did that and added my Input folder back in and everything is buttery smooth again. I reinstalled the Hind as well. Still a few instances of tearing with the Hind, but for the most part I would say 95% better. I'll chalk that up to a WIP module. Zero issues with any other aircraft. So what ever was the issue, seems to have been dealt with. Thanks for your initial investigations. -
Heavy stutters in Syria after recent updates
Spetz replied to Spetz's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Regardless of how the above is set up (had some issues swapping SSD's over to new computer), this had never affected DCS or any other games/programs before the Cyprus update or Hind release.
