  1. Love the Lightning as well. Would love to see it, but I believe it was primarily utilized in the Pacific /Chinese_Burma and North African theaters of operation and not so much in the Normandy area. Regardless, would still love to see it as an A.I. aircraft.
  2. Awesome stuff. Thanks for the vid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. This would be nice to get a look at, but I think a decent amount of the MFD functionality is still being hashed out and probably not ready just yet for public consumption. Don't quote me on that. I'm just basing that on a post I read yesterday. Oops. Sorry for the post-overlap with the person actually developing the system.
  4. When the guy flying said, " I'd play this game everyday," I thought to myself, DCS isn't a game! :)
  5. Thanks for posting those videos. Very much appreciated.
  6. Nothing. I think it may have been sunk.
  7. IIRC just after the A10C went up for pre-purchase there was a great looking external of an F16 floating around.
  8. The trains and other elements of the assets pack are still in development, but will surely be released in later builds of the Normandy map and asset pack.
  9. I like what I read there! Thanks for the image.
  10. Nothing screams "touch me" like being encased in glass... Lol
  11. Seriously! Somebody needs to get in there and put her through the motions, and not just banking left and right.
  12. The base looks exactly the same, but the writing on the base plate - it was a bit blurry from that vid feed, but I don't think it's the same as the writing on the WH's.
  13. The big question.
  14. Don't get discouraged. The WWII birds are a joy to fly - more of a feeling that your flying a plane and not a computer. However, all of them in their own way require some time to master engine management, respectively. Once you get that down, then you'll be able to fly the plane at the limits of it's engine output. A major variable that dictates how a dogfight will go, is energy. Once you maximize engine management you'll be able to maintain energy, which will give you a distinctive advantage over you're adversary. i think the spit feels more forgiving in a low altitude turn fight because that is it's strength: low altitude turning fights - has the smallest turn radius of the current flyable - plays into the spits advantage. Not so with the 51 or the 190 and the 109 for that matter. The latter are higher altitude energy fighters. Get above and try to dive on your adversary in the 190. As far as the 51 is concerned, just stay at medium to high altitudes and utilize good engine management to maintain energy relative to your opponents. Of course, there is a lot more to it than just energy, but from what i've read it's key to any maneuver - split-s, immelman, etc.. - that will aid you in an encounter. I hope that helped. These birds are great, they just demand some time to really master. You'll get there.

  16. Only the Third Reich units are exclusive to that era, since it's a WWII era coalition, but the WW2 assets for the US and the UK are mixed. I think in another post it was mentioned that they will put some sort of identifier on WW2 assets in order to make it easier to distinguish amongst the modern units.
  17. It's not an advanced waypoint option. Its a load out option on the load out screen from the B17. You will see a single bomb station marked "1". Right click that, and it should bring up a pulldown menu with a few selectable options, one of which is 12 AN? bombs. Click that option for each bomber. If when you right click you on't get a menu, just create a new load out profile, then it should work. You still have to select iron bombs and the release quantity for the waypoint in the advanced waypoint options, but you have to have physically loaded the ordinances form the weapons load out screen into the bomb bay of each bomber. Apologize if I failed to state that in my earlier post.
  18. Getting it to work is restricted to very narrow parameters, but it works Firstly, make your waypoints into the target area completely in line with each other. Also, make the bombing triangle that appears at the waypoint you set to "ww2 carpet bombing" forward of that waypoint and still in line with the flight path. I've noticed that if the flight paths are misaligned in any way, the bombers get a little wonky or they just circle around before actually bombing. Make sure that every bomber has a full complement of iron bombs. Make sure you set the type of bomb to drop to "iron bombs" and the release quantity "rel" to all bombs. I typically set for every waypoint a formation of ww2 bomber element(the closest formation) in advanced options, and for that bombing waypoint I set it to "ww2carpet bombing", set the triangle forward of that waypoint on the target, but still in line with the flight path, load all my bombers with their full complement of iron bombs. I build the larger formation from there, by just adding additional bomber elements. However, the larger the Wing becomes the more wonky things get, but they still - not so elegantly - release all their bombs on the target area. It sounds like you've gotten them set up right. If they are releasing one bomb then it sounds like you may not have the type of bomb or the release quantity set properly for that waypoint. I'd double check that for each bomber.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Very much appreciated.
  20. I apologize if this has been asked, but I was curious how those who have a lot of time in the 109 control the tendency for the plane to want to roll clockwise during flight with no rudder trim or aileron trim settings? At the moment, I've been just adding small rudder and roll inputs to keep her flying straight. I can trim out the 51, 190, and Spit to fly pretty stable, but in the 109 - without trim tabs on 2 of the 3 surfaces - not so much. Is this normal, or am I missing something? Thanks.
  21. Maybe the 20mm's on the spit could crack some lightly armored stuff, namely the early panzer's - still not lightly armored, but the current flyables weren't really "tank busters". A plane capable of carrying a 30mm> cannon is what's needed to crack heavy armor ( Typhoon - bofors 40mm - , Mosquito, IL-2,etc..) or a large bomb load and AP rockets (P47).
  22. This week update, has a WIP image of a C47 with it's side door open. Does this mean that we'll get a paratrooper jump option for this unit? Not sure if this was already asked and answered, but if so, then I'm doubly excited. Although, I'm not so sure my cpu is: a sky filled with a load of paratroopers, not to mention the burning C47's above them, plus the flak bursts, from 88 dmg is making my computer cringe at the thought.
  23. It's still in alpha with incredible potential. I'd check out the current weekend update. If you didn't know already, there is a lot of cool stuff to be excited about in the pipeline.
  24. I've suddenly started to experience this as well. Textures seem to be switched in certain places; furthermore, everything - at least in the cockpit - seems washed out. I can't seem to remedy this. It seems to be a 2.1 issue. I didn't change anything in game nor in my vid card settings. 2.1 did update the installer, but I don't think that would have anything to do with the normandy textures.
  25. The guns on the p51 pretty much bounce off German armor, and I've been quite inaccurate with rockets or bombs. The spit was also pretty ineffective against the German artillery unit - direct hits with the .303's did nothing. I believe the zerg mass production of the M4 Sherman and the tank busting ability of the P47 during the war enabled allied success during the war against German armor. German armor during WWII was tough and pretty much superior on all fronts until the Russian T34, so I'm not surprised how resilient the German units are. I've tested a few armor scenarios, and M4 Sherman gets torn to pieces by anything, save for the panzer1's. Tigers and Panther's one hit pretty much everything - makes sense. the M4 Firefly does well vs the German tanks, which is expected given the British fitted 17pound main gun. I put a single TigerII (King Tiger) up against 10x M4 Sherman's, and the Tiger II had them all in flames. Lol
