I went with the 5800x and am quite pleased with results. I think I lucked out on the silicon lottery, but in DCS the cpu is boosting beyond the rated 4.7 it’s marketed as. I see it getting up to 4.8+ on the F32 bios. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks appreciate it. I’m leaning towards the 5800x so I may Pull the string and in that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I put my 3900x into my daughters build with the intention of replacing it with a 5900X. It’s impossible to find a a 5900X at its list price and it looks like it’s play the lottery or wait till July when stock might appear. Is it that much if a hit if I just went with a 5600X? I don’t do intensive productivity stuff or do I stream on my system anyway. I’m thinking no but just wanted to get done thoughts before committing. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Worth upgrading 2080 Super to a 2080ti or 3080?
DocSigma replied to CommandT's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was planning on it. I'll probably hand this cpu down to my daughter and pop a 5900X in my current setup. I'll still wait to see more benchmarks once Zen3 drops. -

CPU overclock - is it truely worth it for DCS?

I had my first gen. i7 920 oc'd to 4.0 for close to 10 yrs without one issue once i got it stable. -
Considering the cost of high end GPU's, I don't think its wise to dive in as soon as they are released. The 3000 series seems to have issues they claim is due to capacitor placement, etc.. CTD's and Black screens.

Ooooo - a new nvidia card without the price hike?
DocSigma replied to Boosterdog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
if the 3080 has 10gb of vram on it - great for VR users then I'm assuming they'll throw 16gb or so on the Ti variant. Impresssivr. I need to start looking into a larger PSU lol I'd still like to see how Navi compares with RDNA2 before pulling the string on one. -
I'll be eyeing the 3080 super but this.

6+ yr old Computer died need help replacing

With actual experience being indistinguishable between Blue vs Red, with all things being equal, why go intel. It looks like you arent one to buy the newest thing thats released and the better choice is a Ryzen based system. I'd wait for Zen3 Vermeer later this year. -
flight stick moving all over the place in the cockpit.
DocSigma replied to DocSigma's topic in Bugs and Problems
disregard. My stick had a co-mapping to a rudder axis my pedals are on and clearing those out resolved it. -
Just updated to beta from the alpha using the gui utility. All went pretty smoothly, except a notification telling me that i had files in the bin/_downloads fodler that were not supposed to be there and whether or not I wanted to keep or discard prior to continuing with the upgrade. I decided to keep. Update was fine. However, and i dont know if this is due to that or just a general bug due associated with the latest build, but when i jump into the cockpit of the 109 the flight stick is moving all over the place and im not even touching my fligh stick. Is this a known bug? thanks.

Thanks. Appreciate the feedback. I went ahead and updated the stable to beta. All good. However, I did received a notification that there were files within the bin/_downloads/ folder specific to the BF109 and and both 190 variants telling me they were not supposed to be there and whether or not i should keep them. I left well enough alone and just kept the files and continued on with the install.

This is going to be a dumb question, but I am only using one branch, the stable branch. I used to have a dual install of DCS, but now since my new build, Ive just been going with the stable branch. I want to use the updater utility to switch between these two branches. I just want to confirm that it's as simple as just using the update buttons in the gui within the advanced settings tab in the GUI, and will I run into issue with my control mappings if I'm switching back and forth? Thanks.

Hard Times and Expensive Hobby

I decided to go with the RiftS. I think its a solid choice and it will not break the bank - good enough resolution, painless to get up and running. Everything maxed out and still get the beset visuals it has to offer with an above average frame rate. My feelings were VR is no where near where it needs to be in its current state. I fly 70% monitor and 30% VR, for the immersion. When a headset is released that has things like foveated rendering, eye tracking, large fov, high resolution and refresh, I'll go all in on that headset, but the tech is nowhere near there yet, not to mention the DCS engine. Given the price of the RiftS I don't think you can go wrong. -
Tell me, doesn't this just smell like a scam?

Especially now, more than in recent memory, do not buy from reputable vendors. -

[MERGED] DirectX 11/12, OpenGL, VulkanAPI Discussion
DocSigma replied to Cskelly's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I for one am very excited to see performance improvements with Vulkan. I don't play many other games on my computer besides DCS, but one game i have played is DOOM Eternal. I mention this because it uses Vulkan and although its not a simulator, it is graphically intensive with lots of stuff going on at any one time. On my system playing that in 2k at full maxed settings - nightmare settings - I get anywhere from 250-300fps - performance is outstanding. Again, its not a fair comparison, but its just a very positive example of an excellently performing title using Vulkan. -
I'd hold off on the 2080ti as the 3000 series cards are releasing and will be significantly better. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

if you put the the tgp into VVSL mode, you can just aim the Velocity vector at the area you want to designate, designate, then you'll get a diamond on the ground and in the tgp you can slew around. Also, I believe in CCRP, you can do this by catching the ball with the velocity vector, then designating a ground point that way, in which case you'll get a steering cue and fall line. Not sure if that addresses your question. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

This is for the stable release version. I notice that when I select, for instance, a specific task, such as pinpoint strike in the ME, there are no loadout options. I'm always forced to create a new loadout and populate manually. Is this a bug or is it something on my end? For other tasks such as ground strike, loadouts are available but for some they are not. For some reason the tadpole doesn't move from the FPM on the HUD. I have way-points set. I can't seem to figure out what I'm missing.
