  1. that's the leap vr needs. if only they can get that price down. I wonder how it performs. I suspect better than expected due to the foveated rendering. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  2. I wouldn't invest in the 10thgen chips. All your getting is a slight boost in Mhz which will yield no difference as far as your experience in DCS is concerned over a system - all things being equal - using a 9th gen chip. If you have to go Intel, and you need to upgrade your CPU, I'd get a 9th gen chip or wait for Ice lake.
  3. That's just it. I run dcs all settings maxed at 2k and I am over 100fps. Maybe performance in vr might be a little better, but I use the rift and with that I run high settings and get very good performance. If I was set in running things in 4k or greater res. Id think a Ti would be tempting, but as it is, and with my current rig, I wouldn't experience no difference between a ti or my super. Frames are evil.. I only will look at them if I experience stutters or slow downs. I checked my frames when I got the system up and running to gauge performance, but now I dont bother as I get no slowdowns. Again, its 2k or rifts. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  4. I guess CPUz only reports the core 1 and I think that core is "sleeping" those moments i checked it.
  5. Recently i've been noticing strange things going on with my cpu. Its sometimes running at pretty low frequencies-well below base on certain cores. For instance, checking it with cpuz showed it running at 1.8ghz then in Hw monitor it showed core 1 at 1.8 ghz. the other cores were what they should have been. A restart seems to solve the issue. I don't know why this suddenly started happening. Could it be the latest widows update or is it a hardware issue with the cpu itself? Thanks.
  6. I would always suggest you build it yourself, but that machine will run DCS very well. My only issue is timing. Intel will drop their 10th gen cpus and nvidia will drop their 3000 series cards, not to mention intel getting in on the discrete graphics card market with their offering sometime this summer. If I was you, I'd just wait a bit longer.
  7. Dont forget Intel's Xe discrete cards are set to drop this summer. This is real good if they can put out a competitive card.
  8. The cost is so prohibitive. As much as I would want a ti card, just cant justify the new normal super high price of the Ti. Maybe if they upped the VRAM on the card from 11Gb or something but still probably not.
  9. I use a Rift - S with my 2080 super and its performance is great. I use pretty high settings and my experience is pretty smooth across the board. Its pretty late in the cycle so if I were you I'd wait to see benchmarks on the 4000 series silicon and maybe wait till nvidia drops their next generation card before taking the plunge, just for comparison sake.
  10. This. Absolutely right. Who cares about a few numbers here or there well within margins of error. Both high and mid range chips offer the same experience. Just buy what gives you the best bang for your buck and enjoy your new toy, you will not be disappointed either way.
  11. What's in my sig now. Not quite equal to 4k but with the money difference, I'd probably throw a 2080Ti in instead of the Super.
  12. I dont think you can go wrong with either red or blue at the higher end. The experience in dcs - given similar hardware save for the cpu - will be indistinguishable from each other. If you like to stare at a fps counter you will see slight differences, but nothing drastically different. If your building now, I dont see an argument not to go with the ryzen 3000 series. If you want to go intel, I'd just wait for their 10th gen chips to drop which should be not too far off. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  13. I've never done it, but from what I've seen it doesn't seem too difficult. I think I saw it here: https://warthog-extensions-by-sahaj.com/ Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  14. I wouldn't say the tension is heavy. I'd say its sits about medium. I think its medium out of the box, but if you were to start using it with an extender one day, a heavier spring would be in order since it would be too light and could damage the gimbals - stick not designed for the added force of an extender without minor modifications.
  15. I don't think you can go wrong with offerings from either the warthog , virpil, or vkb. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  16. Yeah, the monopoly nvidia has on the market and supply issues in the vram production pipeline are probably the main cause of the high prices. I agree, the prices will continue upwards until a worthy competitor to nvidias ti cards hit the market. I think everybody is hoping for that to happen as well as intels offering into the desktop gpu market as well. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  17. I couldnt bring myself to buy a 2080ti at the prices especially when the experience would be no different with a ti in there - Im not dropping anywhere to levels where I might see hiccups. I play at 2k - dont have a 4k monitor - with everything maxed out and I pull over 100 frames constant in most situations and only dip to 80 -90 when down low in cities such as Las Vegas or some of the places on the hormuz map. I'm very pleased with my card and its performance. As far as 2k is concerned I think a 2080super is a sweet spot; at 4k a 2080ti might be a bit more justified, but still the prices are ludicrous. 18. I just have dcs and my os on my nvme and everything else on my 2.5ssd. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  19. I was close to getting the reverb over the rifts but since i went with a 2080super over the ti ( really couldn't justify the performance/cost gain of this card over the super), I decided against it. But, for 11gb of vram users the reverb makes sense. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  20. For VR I'd say the most important components to maximize res and frames - still well below expectations on account that the tech just isnt there yet for vr - is a high end CPU- i9 9900k/KS or Ryzen 3900x/3950x and a powerful vid card with the most vram you can afford : 2080ti (11gb). 21. Good choice, but you really want to get DCS on an SSD or Nvme and pair that with a a card with at least 8gb of VRAM. If you have the monitor for it, then you can put 1080p behind you and fly in 2k at the very least. Make sure you update the bios on that x470 board if you're going to throw a 3900x in there for compatibility reasons.
  22. Another thing to consider is how many years do you want to invest in this system. Are you the type of person to run out and grab the latest stuff hitting mainstream, or is the system you want to build intended to stand a modicum test of time. If you want to stare at a frame rate counter @ 1080 and look for a modestly larger number, and want the absolute top performing system in dcs now in its current state, then go blue; if you want a more future proof system that yields the same experience with the frame rate counter turned off but offers more cores for your dollar, is on a socket that's just hitting maturity and excels at higher resolution gaming beyond 1080, then I'd lean towards red team. Either way you go is going to yield a well performing system in dcs with all the above advice. Vulkan is comming - see today's update- and performance wise is antibodies guess, but one thing is certain, DCS will no longer be a single core pony so there's that. 23. DCS runs excellent with AMD. Counting hairs aside, you will experience the same fluid gameplay on AMD ad you would on an blue rig. E.g, on my system - see sig- with a non ti card I pretty much get 100+ frames at 2k with all the bells and whistles turned on. I cant speak to 4k as I dont have a 4k monitor. 24. If it makes you feel any better. I literally just updated to F11 on my board, 10 minutes ago - I was using F10b - and it was no thing. Use Q-Flash, don't use the Windows method, and make sure your USB is Fat32 and newly formatted with just the .F11 on it.
