  1. This ^. The GPU power needed increases exponentially as lens res and fov increases in headsets. It's just not practical nor does it exist yet. The nex headsets imo, are not next gen. A true next gen headset is one with revolutionary tech to drive the visuals as well as the performance from a practical perspective. To me, that tech is foveated rendering and accurate eye tracking. Not sure when we'll see this, but that is what's needed, not the linear increase in lens res. and fov.
  2. Apologies. Yeah, the zen2 ryzen 3's.
  3. At this stage in the game, I'd wait a little longer for the Ryzen2's and see if any of those fit into your budget.
  4. The Reverb looks good, but VR is still stuck in the previous generation even with the new headsets set to release. The gpu power required to keep pace by just increasing lens resolution and fov just doesn't exist to make it practical. At this point, I'd just get a solid headset that gives a livable performance, until the gen 2 headsets hit the market hopefully with the vr tech that's desperately needed: foveated rendering and accurate eye tracking. I think the rift S with its moderately increased res. and reasonable price might be a good option. I say that if you have the cash to dump on a new headset, get something to hold you over until a real revolution in VR hits the market - I don't mean larger screen resolution either. I would vote against dumping the very large chunk of change on the pimax 5k unless you have literally the best system money can buy with 2080 RTX titan. Barring that, I think the pimax 5k will not meet your expectations and its questionable that the reverb will as well.
  5. I read something that pimax5k looks great on paper, but it takes a top end rig with a 2080rtx titan just to run It with any satisfactory performance at its large res and large fov. Just upping screen res and fov outpaces current tech that doensnt exist yet. VR needs foveated rendering and spot on eye tracking to make high res lenses and large fovs practical. 6. The Hornet is DCS's piece of resistance, and there are still many features to come. Without question, get the F18.
  7. It sounds like a box cart held together with some twine speeding down the steepest neighborhood hill. The airframe sound effects are really stellar.
  8. Welcome to the 70's world of analog. :joystick:
  9. Don't forget about Magnetic declination or variance. This will change based on what map your on. In addition to adjusting for runway heading - the -10 degrees from the ships heading - you;ll need to adjust for the mag. declination of the map area.
  10. The 7M should have a range of 30+ miles. How effective that is when you consider a moving target your trying to hold a radar lock onto is another matter completely. Th 7C is the one with the barely 10nM range.
  11. I think we may see a few by years end. Carrier Module. (confident) FW 190 A8 (confident) A new undisclosed Map (condident) Stuff im on the fence about getting released this year. F16 Jug Mi24
  12. Purchased the extension, and had no problems installing it and getting it to work. However, I completely lost the ability to access the jester menu. I would have liked the ability to continue to access the menu as I was learning the commands. In order to restore the menu, I had to remove the .dll extension and do a DCS repair. It would have been nice to know before purchasing that the menu would be disabled and that it wouldn't be a simple toggle to restore. Please add a toggle in the configuration window to enable/disable the jester menu for future releases.
  13. Wags said that it's near impossible to get the avionics and flight data to do anywhere near a modern red jet as a result of EDs location in Moscow. Were already getting a mig23 from razbam and maybe data on a mig25 is possible, but my vote goes to the Tornado. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  14. I'm having the same issue. LGBs do not track for me. 65E's work just fine. I havent tried since update bit I'll check when I get to my cpu. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  15. If you have capacity issues, then I'd highly suggest using Skatezillas dcs installer utility. You only need one Install to your preferred HD, then with the utility it allows you to switch between open beta and the stable version pretty seamlessly. I highly recommend this utility. 16. I haven't had a lot of time in the f14, but is the radio turned on? I think the dial is on the lower left-hand console. It'just forward of the TACAN panel.
  17. The 54 was designed for the F111 and then modified to be carried by F14's. The F14 was the only operational platform for the missile. It costs less than a 120C for instance, but with the F14 out of service there really is no need to continue to make Aim54's. The missile is also pretty heavy and can not be held within internal bays on airframes like the F22 or the F35. The Aim120D has a similar range and can be carried on 5th gen aircraft.
  18. I think the issue is the immortal and invisible Bradley. It's destroying the t72's. Try using an unarmed Humvee, or maybe try setting the ROE for that Bradley to only return fire if fired upon. Its that or maybe the Bradley doesn't have EPSLR in its advanced waypoint options. I know the unarmed Humvee does.
  19. The fact of the matter is, is that there is not a single confirmed, intent to down, hit with an AIM54 by the US Navy. The only things the 54 actually shot down were drones during targeting. The confirmed shoot downs with the F14 are with Aim7's or sidewinders. The Iranian claims are unsubstantiated so I'm not counting them. The 54 as is is way overcooked and way unreflective of the actual performance of the missile. All things being equal, as far as piloting skills go, the Hornet should make pretty quick work of the Tomcat, but that is not what we're seeing because of the overcooked performance of the 54.
  20. It was during the 90's by US 14's in both Iraqi conflicts. The few times it was fired they didn't strike their targets - I think a mig23 miss and a mig25 miss. The Iranian AF claimed 84 plus kills against various airframes during the Iraqi/Iranian conflict, but I'd take those numbers with a grain of salt. There is a good reason the missile isn't made anymore. The 120C and especially the D are both superior.
  21. I think the hit % of the current DCS Aim54 is a bit too good. The Aim54 wasn't a very good missile, not hitting the intended targets the few times they were fired from US F14's during their time in service. The Iranian AF boasted a pile of kills with the 54, but who's to say those numbers aren't inflated. The 54 has the range advantage, but the missile doesn't go pitbull till its about 10nm. The 120C is a superior ordinance. Just take away the 14's range advantage and get the fight to within 40nm and the advantage goes to the Hornet. Force the 14 to go defensive disrupting the INS cues the 54 is getting from the 14 while you close the gap. You should pick up the 54 on your rwr once it goes active with enough time to notch the missile.
  22. Don't forget the Mig25 and ... Mig28! :) :megalol:
  23. 10, 12, and 16's. I'll try it with a 65E and see if it tracks. Also, this is just singleplayer, not on a server.
